I've talked about this here on Hive a wee bit. Over the past 2 years, I've been working on my own CCG, called The Condemned. It's been a long process, but I'm close to the point of having a finished product. Part of that process involves finding a good printer to publish your cards for you. Through happenstance, I was referred to a company called Shenzhen Lianxin Printing Company, who have some very, very competitive prices. Willing to give them a try, I ordered a test print of my game using placeholder artwork. I just uploaded my review of their product, which is available here:
Overall, it's not a bad product. There are issues, though. The cards fail the bend test pretty easily. It's a problem that plagues Yu-Gi-Oh, it makes the cards less resilient during play, and I worry that people will basically need to play with sleeves to keep the cards looking halfway decent. I'm saving the rest of these packs for a test booster draft that will be happening in a few weeks with some friends. We'll see how the cards hold up during that test. That's going to be the real litmus test.
I also don't like how short the top seal is. That might just be something with the image I sent them, that can be easily remedied with a little more space to work with.
Am I going to work with this printer in the future? I don't know. If I can get better card stock to work with, then yes. If not, then no. I really want consistent, high quality product across the board. There's a lot of promise here, but revisions need to be made.
