I have been replaying Diablo 2 Resurrected these past few weeks and let me tell you about Duriel.
For me, Duriel, the Lord of Pain is the hardest act boss in Diablo 2.
I hate him, correction ...hated him.
there was a time where Duriel would 2-shot low defense and low hitpoint characters. when you enter the arena, Duriel will cast 'Charge' and then slap you with 'Smite', both abilities can cause stun. He hits hard and fast and has a 'Holy Freeze Aura' that makes his enemies close to him take 'chill' debuff, attack speed and movement speed slow. He also tap-deletes summoned units.
It was very hard to manfight Duriel at his prime, to the point that you have to fight, portal out, replenish potions, portal in and repeat.
But now, I think he got nerfed/fixed in recent patches and because of the new 'synergies' and buffs among the skills he is now easier to deal with.
It's pretty sad that Duriel is weaker now but a welcomed change, I have lost countless HC characters because of Duriel's Perma stun.
Using a Necromancer, I used a high level Clay Golem that now slows any attackers that hit it including Act Bosses, Frost Arrow from Act1 Merc and a Skeleton Magi(Ice) to slow Duriel down.
While he still kills my minions in one to two shots, it is managable now as I resummon the Clay Golem Duriel just destroyed right in his face to keep aggro off me.
I think the only things left that I fear right now are the Minions of Destruction, I hate those things.
I really love the graphics upgrade of this Diablo 2 Remaster...
Cheers.
