This game sucks
I had been looking forward to the Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance game for a while now and a couple weeks ago when I saw it was coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one, I was pretty excited.
The preview for the game was pretty dope, but I should have known that since it was coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one, that it wouldn't be that good. The games that have been going to Game Pass on their launch date have been pretty disappointing.
The game looks pretty cool though. The graphics are pretty good and I really enjoy these types of games.
There are four classes in the game. The normal tank class, two melee dps and one ranged. I went with Wulfgar, who is a barbarian melee class that wields a large hammer.
The game is not open world at all and each of the missions are instanced. I have heard there is cross-play between gaming systems, but it has been pretty buggy lately, rendering it worthless at the moment. The levels are pretty large and look cool, but that is about it. They are pretty boring and slow.
One of the main reasons I am having a hard time getting into the game is the combat. It is pretty bad at this point. There are massive input delays when you press an attack button and when your character actually swings. I can't stand games like that because it just turns into a button mashing fest during combat and it doesn't feel like your inputs make any sense.
There is a lock on targeting system which is supposed to make things a bit easier to control the camera during combat, but that is horrible as well. Sometimes when you change targets, the whole lock on system just turns off, or it makes your character turn around and it can get disorienting.
Another major problem is the camera gets super close sometimes and it makes it impossible to see anything. Enemies are all over the place and the camera sucks at trying to see any of them when you are fighting. Hopefully they get this shit under control and fix this with a patch cause I was really looking forward to getting into this one, but at the state it is at right now, I won't be playing it.
I am glad that I didn't pay for this one. If you don't have Xbox Game Pass, I would recommend waiting on this before getting it and hope that they fix these issues because the game is pretty unplayable at this point, but it does have potential to be good.
