I really enjoy the Assassin's Creed games

In 2007, I played the original Assassin's Creed game. It was a pretty cool game at the time, but over the next decade and a half, the series evolved quite a bit. I didn't play the next three AC games after the original due to being sent off to war, but I got back into them with Odyssey and a few of the other newer ones and I really enjoyed them.

Mirage is the newest Assassin's Creed game, and the devs said that they are trying to go back to the roots of the series and make it less of an open world experience. I was pretty excited for that because when I played Valhalla, that game took me almost two months and over 100 hours of play to finish. I like to pace myself with video games and not play too long everyday, so a shorter experience is better for me.

The story of Mirage takes place in Baghdad, which I thought was really cool since I spent a few years of my life there. It was really cool to get a glimpse of what Baghdad may have looked like over 1000 years ago.

There were a lot of cool and interesting places to explore and they had a lot of information about the city and everything that was going on back then. It was cool to learn so much about how Baghdad was a trading empire and had so much innovation for the world. I can't even imagine how life was thousands of years ago. Times sure have changed.

I played on PS5 and the game ran really nicely. It did have the occasional glitch, like this dude that flew up into the air without arms. The graphics were really cool. I love exploring these types of games and just looking around at the world that they created.

I liked exploring the market areas and just thinking about how cool it would be to have been there during that time and checking out the different items from all over the world. Its crazy how far we have come to be able to move items all over the globe.

The story of Mirage follows Basim, whom you met in AC Valhalla. It shows how Basim started as a thief in the slums of Baghdad and then was introduced to the Hidden Ones and learned how to become an assassin.

Then you take your new skills and try and take down the Order that is ruling Baghdad. I really enjoyed this game. The combat did take some getting used to and could be a bit wonky at times. This game didn't get great reviews and people complained about how short it was. I think I put almost 30 hours into the game before I beat it. I also took my time and did a lot of exploring and collecting the hidden items.

One thing I really liked about this one versus Valhalla was that they focused more on stealth, which brought the game back to its roots. In Valhalla, you didn't have to do much stealth fighting and you just run into camps and kill everyone. I really wanted to focus on stealth and by the time I got to the end of the game, I was an assassination machine. I would put up from the shadows and take out 4-5 people before anyone even saw me and then I would disappear back into the shadows.

Overall, I am really glad with my purchase of the game. I got it on sale for about $30 and had a lot of fun playing it. I don't think I will ever go back and play it though. There just wasn't anything that caught my attention for any replay value, but it was fun. If you are a fan of the Assassin's Creed games, you will most likely enjoy this one. It is a great story that doesn't really waste your time with a lot of the filler nonsense that most large open world games have.
