Awesome game.... When you can play

The Outriders game is one that I have been waiting for since I heard about it. I really like the shooter looter style games. I was a big fan Destiny and The Division, so games like this are great for me because I can log in, shoot up a bunch of things, get some awesome loot and then log off. I really like the progression in these types of games.

The game starts with you and a team of people landing on an alien world called Enoch. Earth is dying and Enoch is humanities last chance at survival. Enoch was supposed to be a garden of Eden, but that quickly changed upon landing. The planet is plagued with storms that they call the anomaly.

These storms kill just about everyone that is caught out in the open, but your character becomes changed when exposed to the storms. Those that don't die from the anomaly become changed into super humans with different "gifts".

They are called Altereds and can become pretty powerful. So after landing on Enoch, the storms wipe out most people and your dude ends up in a cryogenic sleep for a while and when he is woken up, the new world is at war between the different factions.

Your character is one of the last Outriders, which was a special forces type of group that came to Enoch, and it is up to you and a small group of others to try and save humanity on this planet.

OK, with the background of the game out of the way, let's get into how the game is. First off, the graphics are pretty awesome. It is a really great looking game that really uses the power of the next gen consoles and pc hardware.

The voice acting is decent. It does take some getting used to because my character talks pretty slow, like he is from the country or something, but I think that is what the devs were going for. I may just be used to games where they have over the top voice acting and people just keep talking with no dead air.

Today is day 4 of the game going live and I have not tried to play it yet today, but since launch, the game has been horrible when it comes to the servers.
The game is completely online, which sucks because you can't play solo without being connected to their servers and the servers are extremely overloaded. The game is free for Xbox Game Pass members, so there are a ton of people trying to play it.
The server connection errors are my main gripe with the game right now. I have been kicked out of the game so many times and it can take up to 30 mins or so to get back in, just so you can redo the quest you were just on.

But when I am able to get in and play, I have a blast. I can't wait for the servers to get better so I can play online with others. The game can be really difficult solo and I have heard it really shines when playing with groups.

One of the cool features about Outriders is the crossplay functionality. Players on all the consoles and PCs will be able to group up and play together, which is really cool considering everyone has their different preferences on how to play games.

The game has 4 different classes to play with and each one has their own perks to them. It is a lot like in World of Warcraft and those types of games where each person in the group has a specific role. It will be really cool to fight the higher end bosses in the games and see how each class has to perform their roles to be able to win the fights.

I chose the Technomancer class, which is a long range dps class that heals by dealing damage. It took me a while to figure out the best way to play without dying, but I think I have gotten a lot better. One thing I recommend with the technomancer class is to get used to using your melee when you are overrun by enemies because it can freeze them in their tracks so you can mow them down or create distance.

I just beat a massive boss in a volcano. It was a pretty tough fight that took a few times to win because there are different phases and it gets crazy.

Just like in WoW, there are markings on the ground that give you an idea of shit to avoid. But sometimes the camera angles can get all stupid, especially when aiming down the sites and it is easy to stand in the bad.

During the last phase of the fight, the spider monster turns into a massive lava worm that spews shit all over the place. Once you figure out the pattern of where the lava is going, this phase is extremely easy because you just circle around the boss as you shoot it.
Overall, I am very happy with this game and I can't wait to keep playing it and to try out the different classes. Once the server situation gets optimized, it is going to be a super fun game to play.
