Spoilers Ahead

I normally don't play single player games for too long, but I have put over 100 hours into Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. This game has such a cool story and the DLC content has just added so much more to the game.

The first part of the Fate of Atlantis DLC has you in Elysium, which is a paradise, but once you are able to escape that place, you are thrust down into the Underworld. The first thing you do upon entering the Underworld is to face Cerberus, which is a three headed dog that guards the gates of the Underworld.
I ended up killing Cerberus pretty easily, but when you kill him, Hades gets pretty pissed off and you are stuck in the Underworld finding new champions to guard the 4 gates of the Underworld.

While you are searching for the different champions to fight, there are a lot of side missions to complete while you are there. Like this one where you have to help out a plague victim that had died and needs some healing water.

Or exploring a graveyard of the dead that point you along to where you need to go.

The dead lead you to this tree where a woman is hanging and she tells you to go find her love and bring it back to her. While you are searching for her love, you find out that it is the ashes of her child that died in a fire, and the guilt of her losing her child caused her to kill herself, damning her to the Underworld.

The thing I loved about this expansion is the art work. The artists did such an amazing job creating this world. There is so much creepy artwork throughout the Underworld and I spent a lot of time just wandering around looking at the intricate details.

The whole atmosphere of the Underworld is perfection. It gives you such a feeling of despair and sadness as you explore it. It is a stark contrast between the previous DLC in Elysium where everything was flowery and bright colors.

The Underworld in Odyssey is a perfect representation of how this world could look.

As you go through the story and defeat the different champions and guardians, you get new armor pieces that allow you to go through the veil to the other areas of the Underworld.

Even the armor and weapons that you get here are super awesome looking. You need to collect the different armor pieces because a lot of the enemies are not able to be defeated without entering a rift to the plane they are on, but without the armor, your total life is lowered when you enter the rifts. When you defeat all the enemies in that rift, it is sealed and you need to find the other rifts to defeat those enemies as well.

Another cool thing about the different DLCs is that you are able to make your abilities stronger by collecting the different Keeper's Insights that are in the different zones. As you collect them, it increases the knowledge that you have of how your staff works.

The different champions that you have to find and defeat are pretty strong, and you can't fight them until you have all of the armor pieces to pass through the veil.

The different champions that you have to fight are some of the Cult Members that you killed during the main story quest and when you defeated them, they were sent down to the Underworld.

After you defeat them, you send them off to the different gates that they are required to guard for the rest of eternity.

After completing all the different tasks that Hades had for you and getting new guardians for him, you expect him to keep his word and teach you about the staff and what your purpose is as a keeper of the staff.

Well surprise surprise, Hades is a dick and lied to you from the beginning. Instead of explaining anything about the staff, he tells you that there is a fifth gate and that you will be stuck there forever guarding it.

Of course that doesn't fly, and you have to beat the shit out of Hades. The fight was actually pretty tough because he had a few different health bars and his attacks drained your adrenaline when he hit you, which made it harder to do your special attacks.

After you defeat Hades, Poseidon shows up and explains that he will take you to Atlantis where you will learn everything you need to know about being a keeper of the staff.

So now I am in Atlantis with Poseidon and beginning the third episode of the Fate of Atlantis DLC. I wonder what errands I am going to have to run here and what hoops I need to jump through to learn more about the staff. I am sure that Poseidon will end up betraying me because that seems like the cool thing to do.
Overall, the game is amazing. I think that Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is one of the greatest games I have ever played. The story, graphics, sound, controls and pretty much everything about this game is damn near perfect. I have been having a blast playing this and I wish that Assassin's Creed: Valhalla would have been able to keep my attention like this one. It helps that I really enjoy Greek Mythology though. I think that is one reason why some people enjoy this Assassin's Creed more than others.
