Hi there. In this Pokemon TCG Pocket post, I cover the announcement of the upcoming Eevee set. This set is called Eevee Grove.

Here is the trailer. This set is to release on Thursday June 26, 2025.
In Game Accessories
With every new set in the Pocket game you have in-game accessories. There is a Eevee themed display board and binder.

Card Profiles
Eevee and its evolutions are featured in this mini-set. There are a few other cards. Let's take a look.
Pictures from here.
Leafeon

This new Leafeon is the single prize version. Leaf Blast requires one Colourless Energy to deal 10 damage. This attack does 20 more damage for each Grass Energy attached to it.
If this Leafeon has 1 Grass Energy then Leaf Blast does 30 damage. With two Grass Energy, this Leaf Blast attack does 50 damage.
I see synergy with this Leafeon and Leafeon ex and maybe Serperior.

Flareon ex

Before I talk about the card and its playability, I want to say that this may be my favourite regular Pokemon ex art. The fire coming out of Flareon's mouth to the left is just beautiful.
Flareon ex is a Stage 1 Pokemon ex attacker. This has 150 HP, 2 retreat cost and Water weakness.
The Fire Spin attack requires 2 Fire Energy and 1 Colourless Energy to deal 130 damage. There is a drawback of discarding 2 Fire Energy from Flareon ex. Dealing 130 damage can result in one hit knockout on some Pokemon ex attackers. This deals 150 damage to Buzzwole ex.
The Combust ability on Flareon ex is pretty good. Once during your turn, you may attach 1 Fire Energy from your discard pile to this. The drawback is that Flareon ex takes 20 damage. This is similar to Magma Basin from the physical Pokemon TCG from a year ago.

Vaporeon

Vaporeon is a Stage 1 120 HP Pokemon. This has 2 retreat cost and Lightning weakness.
The Hyper Whirlpool attack is kind of costly. It requires one Water Energy and two Colourless Energy to deal 70 damage. You also flip a coin until you get Tails. For each Heads flipped, discard a random Energy from your opponent's Active Pokemon.
This new Vaporeon combos with Misty and the other Vaporeon. I can this new Vaporeon see some play and cause some disruption.
Glaceon

Glaceon is okay here. For 2 Water Energy, the Ice Blade attack deals 50 damage to 1 of your opponent's Pokemon.
Jolteon

Jolteon is the Lightning evolution of Eevee. This has 90HP, one retreat cost and Fighting weakness. The Beginning Bolt attack requires one Lightning Energy to do 40 base damage. If Jolteon evolved this turn then the attack does 20 more damage (60 damage).
This is an okay attacker. It would be good against Pokemon with Lightning weakness but lacks firepower against larger HP Pokemon.
Espeon

Espeon is very interesting. This Stage 1 Psychic Pokemon has 100 HP, 1 retreat cost and Dark weakness.
Its only attack is Energy Crush. This attack is a punish style attack that does 20 damage for each Energy attached to all of your opponent's Pokemon. If the opponent has something crazy like 5 Energy attached to all of their Pokemon then Energy Crush does 100 damage.
Espeon serves as a good counter to decks with energy acceleration such as Magneton, Giratina ex, Serperior based Grass decks and Flareon ex decks.

Umbreon

This new Umbreon is very interesting. It has 100HP, two retreat cost and Grass weakness. For one Dark Energy the Dark Binding attack deals 40 damage. It also prevents the opponent's Defending Basic Pokemon from attacking during the opponent's next turn.
I can see Umbreon causing annoyances to opponent's that have Big Basic Pokemon ex attackers.
Swirlix + Milcery
![]() | ![]() |
I guess gimmick attackers have entered the Pokemon TCG Pocket game. Both Swirlix and Milcery have the same attack which is Sweets Relay. For one Colourless Energy this Sweets Relay does 10 base damage. If 1 of your Pokemon used the Sweets Relay attack during your last turn then this does 30 damage instead.
Both are these do not seem good until you look at...
Alcremie

Alcremie is the Stage 1 evolution of Milcery. It has 80HP, one retreat cost and Metal weakness.
The Sweets Overload requires one Colourless Energy. This attack does 40 damage for each time your Pokemon have used Sweets Relay during this game. An attack that does more damage based on how often a different attack is used is very interesting. Alcremie can be a dangerous attacker against slower setup decks. You would attack spam Sweets Relay for 3 to 5 times and then bring out Alcremie.
Sweets Relay Usage | Damage Output |
---|---|
1 | 40 |
2 | 80 |
3 | 120 |
4 | 160 |
5 | 200 |
A Sweets Relay deck could be okay. It could be either a meme deck, an upset deck or a legitimate competitive archetype.
Eevee ex

Here is Eevee ex. I think this is the weakest Basic Pokemon ex thus far. This colourless Basic Pokemon has 90HP, 1 retreat cost and Fighting weakness.
Its only attack of Bite is good. One Colourless Energy to do 30 damage.
The Veevee'volve ability lets you evolve Eevee ex into any of its evolution (outside of the first turn it is in play.) This Eevee ex ability is pretty much the same as Eevee ex from the physical Pokemon TCG.

One could ask why is this Eevee ex is so weak? Yes it is weak at 90HP. That is the major downside. In terms of deckbuilding you can have 2 regular Eevee and 2 Eevee ex in your deck. In total you would have 4 Eevee Basic Pokemon in your deck. This is great for setup and consistency.
If you play this Eevee ex, you have to watch out for this Sudowoodo. I am not sure how many people will play this counter card.

Eevee Bag Item

This Eevee Bag Item is pretty powerful. You have Supporter stength effects in this Item card. You can choose 1 of 2 options from this card.
Option 1 lets your Eevee evolutions do 10 more damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon.
Option 2 heals 20 damage from each of your Eevee evolutions in play.
Both are these effects are pretty good. Either boost damage or heal damage from your Eevee evolutions.
Healing damage goes well with Flareon ex.
Penny

In this Scarlet & Violet video games, Penny is a Eevee user. It makes sense to have Penny in this set.
The Penny supporter card is very interesting. It is a copycat type of effect. You look at a random Supporter card that is not Penny from your opponent's deck. Shuffle that card back into the opponent's deck. Then you use that Supporter card effect as the effect of this Penny card.
Penny is a gamble card though. You could get a Professor's Research, Cyrus, Sabrina, Red, Giovanni, Mars or something useless for your deck like Erika or Misty.

Sylveon ex

The regular Sylveon ex image from Pokebeach is not great. I put the full art version instead.
Fairy Wind requires 1 Psychic and 1 Colourless Energy to deal 70 damage. It is an okay attack.
The Happy Ribbon ability is very good. Once during your turn, when you play this Pokemon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Eevee or Eevee ex, you have the option of drawing 2 cards. In the Pokemon TCG Pocket game, drawing 2 cards is pretty big. The Physical Pokemon TCG allows for 60 card decks while this one allows for 20 card decks. Drawing 2 cards is at least 10% of your deck.
Use a second Sylveon ex to increase draw power. Two Professor Research and 2 Sylveon ex makes you go through your deck really fast.
Leafeon Art Card

This is one of known art cards from the first reveal. It looks nice. The other art cards are not known until the Thursday June 26, 2025 release.
Possible Decks
I can see possible decks emerging from this set. Here are some ideas that I came up with. Not sure if they are good or not. Testing is needed.
Magnezone + Sylveon ex
One idea I had in mind was using Sylveon ex as a turbo draw engine. Sylveon ex could be used as an attacker but the main focus is getting Magnezone out as fast as possible.

Sylveon ex + Flareon ex Possible Deck
Sylveon ex and Flareon ex kind of makes sense. Flareon ex is the main big attacker while Sylveon ex would be a draw engine and a backup attacker. You would have to run Fire and Psychic energy which could hurt consistency.
You max out 4 Eevees here. Two Eevee and two Eevee ex. Sylveon ex is weak to Metal but Flareon ex hits Metal for weakness.

Sylveon ex + Espeon Possible Deck
Since both Sylveon ex and Espeon are Psychic types, it makes sense to put them both together. The obvious downside is the lack of firepower if the opponent does not have many energy on them. Espeon does low damage if there is very little energy from the opponent's Pokemon.

Closing Notes
I do think the sets do release kind of fast. Sets in TCG Pocket release faster than the physical Pokemon TCG for sure. It can be a bit hard to keep up with the new cards, and the metagame.
As a free to play player in this game, I can kind of keep up with the new cards, metagame and I do an okay job with almost finishing card collections. Those who don't log in everyday to this game could be overwhelmed.
For the set, this Eevee set is like the mobile game version of Prismatic Evolutions from the physical TCG. One could ask why is Eevee and its evolutions being pushed so hard? In early January 2025, it has been announced that 2025 is The Year Of Eevee. I think Eevee is number 2 in popularity after Pikachu. If Eevee is not number 2, it is very popular with kids and fans.

From the first set of reveals, I think Eevee decks will be good. Sylveon ex, Eevee ex and Flareon ex stand out the most. It is unknown which Eevee deck would be the most popular. Testing would be needed.
