Max Payne

I am sure that everybody heard about that game. If not about game, I am sure you heard about the movie. Movie wasn't that good as game for me. But we don't talk about movie.

MAX PAYNE

Max Payne is a revolutionary TPS action game created in collaboration with Remedy and 3D Realms. In the game we play the role of a secret agent, chased by all the secret services of the world after he was accused of killing his own boss.

In the game we play the title Max Payne, who works as a policeman. The cop lives a quiet life (if you consider chasing bad guys peaceful), he has a wife and daughter. One day he decides to stay a bit longer at work, talking to his friend. Upon returning home, he hears screams. It turns out that his wife and child were murdered by drug addicts intoxicated with a new, synthetic drug called Valkyria. The agent makes the recipient in a state of increased aggression and shows a tendency to aggression. Max kills the attackers, but the death of the family has a significant impact on his mind, draining his happiness and engulfing him with a desire for revenge. The action moves by 3 years. Meanwhile, Max gets a job with the DEA (anti-narcotics organization) and starts an investigation into Valkyria as a spy in one of the gangs.

The story is very complex and atmospheric (after all, a cop burned out with emotions uses boxes of painkillers instead of first aid kits).

The best for me is the climat of the game. IT is AMAZING!

Devoid of feelings and emotionally damaged clay, who is not afraid of death, is the protagonist and narrator of the story. A characteristic and deep voice, philosophically and with a hint of decadence, comments on the events that we observe on the screen. This makes the story take on a new background. Additionally, it becomes dark, sad, personal and full of a desire for revenge, but not aggressive, and almost indifferent or empty.

The story is served in several forms: in the form of Max's inner thoughts while exploring the world, in short cutscenes on the game engine (in which someone usually dies, gets shot or escapes), or through comic inserts.

Story Comics

The images are not drawn as in comics. Instead, only slightly comic-styled photos were used. And these photos are taken by casual actors, probably played by studio employees.

Music

For me music is at a very high level. Deep songs more than once emphasize the mood of a dirty city full of criminals. The main musical theme of the game is quickly remembered, and in action scenes the authors are able to increase the pace with fast electronics.
(It is similar like in Serious Sam)

Bullet Time

Like i said earlier about Matrix.
Bullet time - a mechanic, the activation of which (the hero skill) slows down time, and we can effectively (and above all, effectively) kill enemies by observing the missile paths and avoiding them with effective jumps.

Of course, the mechanics cannot be used indefinitely. We have a pool of "time energy" that we can use and that regenerates after killing enemies. We have at our disposal a basic arsenal of pistols, shotguns, rifles, snipers and grenades.

Max Payne is a production well thought out for its gameplay. The creators wanted to create a fast action game, so nothing could be missing. The player cannot spare himself - he has to infuse what he can and what he can. It is also related to the linearity of the game and location.

The way is always one and the right one. There will be no shortage of ammunition and first aid kits in the game. Of course, this does not mean that the title is simple, quite the opposite. Each fight is a peculiar puzzle in which we have to properly think out, in what order and with what tools we can kill our enemies. It's not hard to die, but thanks to qucik save it doesn't hurt that much.

I remember like i liked quick saves :D.
On hard level you can use quick saves like 5 times only.

Graphics and locations

For that times i think graphics was very good, and look at faces of people in the game. That are real faces.

Although we will visit really different places, such as ports, pubs, residences or offices, each of them in its own district does not stand out at all. The following rooms are very repetitive. The game does not develop space, usually taking place in narrow corridors or not very wide halls. On top of that, the levels are usually about going up or down all the time.

So... I think that was it.

Max Payne is a very atmospheric production, with a good plot, deep atmosphere, with a great model of shooting and killing that gives a lot of fun. These elements are complemented and conquered by great and memorable music.

I recommend. The game has good and bad things, but it's a classic.
