Hello friends, I send a very special greeting to this community that I am getting to know through challenge. My drawing to participate is about the protagonist of the Play Station game: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1. This game came out in the mid-2000s. It was a very important time in my life and that is why I have chosen this character to explain a little what it meant to me.
Hola amigos envío un saludo muy especial a esta comunidad que estoy conociendo a través de desafío. Mi dibujo para participar se trata del protagonista del juego de Play Station: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1. Este juego salió a mediados de la época del 2000. Fue una época muy importante en mi vida y por eso he eleigido este personaje para explicar un poco lo que significó para mi.
Process
In those years I was 16 years old. I was expelled from school for misbehavior and never went to class. Instead I was going to play street basketball or skateboard. I did not have money for a console so I had to pay to play, so I went to the clubs and played for hours until I became an expert in this game. I liked everything, the aesthetics, the music, the environment, I remember watching the X-games competitions without fail and I was always aware of what Tony Hawk was doing, considered the best of those times.
En aquellos años tenía yo 16 años de edad. Fui expulsado de la escuela por tener mala conducta y nunca entraba a clases. En lugar de ello me iba a jugar basket callejero o a practicar Skateboard. Yo no tenía dinero para una cónsola así que me tocaba pagar para jugar, así que iba a los clubes y jugaba por horas hasta que me convertí en un experto de este juego. ME gustaba todo, la estética, la música el ambiente, recuerdo que miraba las competencias X-games sin falta y siempre estaba pendiente de lo que hacía Tony Hawk, considerado el mejor de esos tiempos.
One day I had no money to gamble and many strange ideas occurred to me, I even thought about being a criminal, I was very close to robbing people. However, in the place where he played once they did a Tony Hawk tournament. I played the whole day, I bet the prize trusting in my abilities and I beat them all. I even beat the owner of the club who was said to play at night. I had the opportunity to play with all the characters in the game in each scenario and no one could beat me. I paid part of the prize for my participation and with the rest I looked for a job and finished saving enough to buy my own console. That kept me away from the streets and bad company.
Un día no tenía dinero para jugar y se me ocurrían muchas ideas extrañas, hasta pensé en ser delincuente, estuve muy cerca de robar a las personas. Sin embargo en el local donde jugaba una vez hicieron un torneo de Tony Hawk. Jugué el día entero, aposté el premio confiando en mis capacidades y los vencí a todos. Incluso vencí al dueño del club de quien se decía jugaba por las noches. Tuve la oportunidad de jugar con todos los personajes del juego en cada escenario y nadie pudo superarme. Pagué con parte del premio mi participación y con lo demás busqué un trabajo y termine de ahorrar lo suficiente para comprarme mi propia cónsola. Eso me alejo de las calles y de las malas compañias.
Never before has a game had so much meaning for me, as it showed me a different way of doing things. To strive for what I am good at when given the opportunity and thus obtain what is desired.
Nunca antes un juego había tenido tanto significado para mi, ya que me mostró una forma diferente de hacer las cosas. De esforzarme en lo que soy bueno cuando se me brinda la oportunidad y así obtener lo que se desea.
After that experience I played the following versions of Tony Hawk but then I lost track of him by becoming a bitter adult full of responsibilities. Sometimes I wish I could find a PS1 console and play this wonder of my adolescence again.
Luego de aquella experiencia jugue las siguientes versiones de Tony Hawk pero luego le perdí la pista al convertirme en un adulto amargado lleno de responsabilidades. A veces como quisiera poder encontrar una cónsola PS1 y volver a jugar esta maravilla de mi adolescencia.
The design of this drawing is cartoon style. I handle two styles of caricature: The satirical caricature where the drawings are with a large head and a small body, and the stylized caricatures where there is no satirical intention. The technique is with prismacolor premier color pencil and coarse-grained opaline cardboard. The drawing then went through a process of diffitalization to make it with a more street style in its colors, however I am not very good at handling digital tools, but I am still learning.
El diseño de este dibujo es estilo caricatura. Manejo dos estilos de caricatura: La caricatura satírica donde los dibujos son de cabeza grande y cuerpo pequeño y las caricaturas estilizadas donde no hay una intención satírica. La técnica es con lapiz de color prismacolor premier y cartulina opalina grano grueso. El dibujo luego lo pasé por un proceso de difitalización para hacerlo con un estilo mas callejero en sus colores, sin embargo no soy muy bueno manejando las herramientas digitales, pero aun estoy aprendiendo.
Final Work
This drawing has done me very well, I remembered a good time in my life and great experiences like the one I could tell. Another great thing about this game was the soundtrack. Each song was a gem in punk rock classics like the Dead Kennedys, one of my favorite bands. This game for me symbolizes better than any other the transition between two eras, between the late 90s and the beginning of the new millennium. What happened in the 90s on a cultural level for me was great, the best style to dress up, good movies, good alternative rock bands and the best, great games like this.
Este dibujo me ha hecho muy bien, recordé una buena época de mi vida y grandes vivencias como la que pude contar. Otra cosa genial que tenía este juego era el soundtrack.. Cada canción era una joya en clásicos del punk rock como los Dead Kennedys una de mis bandas favorita. Este juego para mi simboliza mejor que ningún otro la transición entre dos eras, entre los finales de los 90 y el inicio del nuevo milenio. Lo que sucedió en los 90 a nivel cultural para mi fue grandioso, el mejor estilo poara vestirse, buenas películas, buenas bandas de rock alternativo y lo mejor, grandes juegos como este.
I hope you liked my drawing, which is more of a tribute on my part to those good years that will never be repeated. However, today there are great games and great stories that transform us through them. So keep playing friends.
