Previously in my post about violence and the controversy that has this in the world of video games I mentioned a very curious game, Manhunt, and I said in a paragraph, that I found it a very unpleasant game, so I wondered why not make a post, and it is a game that was also very surrounded by controversy, because unlike God of War, which has violence, but in a more fantasy way, Manhunt is a more realistic game and with more violent deaths than bloody, which is very different. I haven't completed either game, but overall I want to talk about these with my point of view, and why I find them practically disturbing games, as one of those who commented on the post said.
Anteriormente en mi post sobre la violencia y la polémica que tiene esta en el mundo de los videojuegos mencioné un juego muy curioso, Manhunt, y dije en un párrafo, que me parecía un juego muy desagradable, así que me pregunté por qué no hacerle un post, y pues es un juego que también estuvo muy rodeado de polémica, porque a diferencia de God of War, que tiene violencia, pero de una manera más fantasiosa, Manhunt es un juego más realista y con muertes más violentas que sangrientas, que es muy diferente. No he completado ninguno de los dos juegos, pero en general quiero hablar de estos con mi punto de vista, y por qué me parecen juegos prácticamente perturbadores, como lo dijo uno de los que comentó el post.

Rockstar Games was the developer that made Manhunt, developer that obviously don't need me to tell you who they are, they are too well known and well there is no need, the point is that it was one of those rare Rockstar projects that they were releasing from time to time, and I really miss this kind of risks from the company, because now they are simply focused on their main IP's, which makes me pity, but that's another topic. Manhunt is a game that we could classify as a shooter, or action if you could say, as it has a lot of those genres, but for aesthetics and some other mechanics it gets out of those stigmas and gives us a game very out of tune.
Rockstar Games fue la desarrolladora que hizo Manhunt, desarrolladora que obviamente no necesitan que les diga quienes son, son demasiado conocidos y pues no hace falta, el punto es que fue uno de esos proyectos raros de Rockstar que estaban sacando de vez en cuando, y de verdad que se echan un poco en falta este tipo de riesgos por parte de la compañía, porque ahora simplemente están centrados en sus IP’s principales, lo que me da lástima, pero ese es otro tema. Manhunt es un juego que podríamos clasificar como shooter, o de acción si podría decirse, ya que tiene mucho de esos géneros, pero por la estética y alguna que otra mecánica se sale de esos estigmas y nos dan un juego muy fuera de tono.

The guy is like being controlled by someone else, but without being directly imprisoned, the truth is that the story is not very good either, so I do not recommend paying attention to it. Surely if you play it you will see some recognizable figure, like Pigsy, which sounds kind of weird and all, but I got tired of seeing him in mods for San Andreas more than 10 years ago, it was very common to see him there too. The point with Manhunt's story is that it's almost like an excuse for you to go and commit the most brutal murders you'll ever see in a video game, or at least in my experience it's one of the craziest things I've ever seen.
La historia del juego trata sobre un criminal que supuestamente ha sido condenado a muerte y ejecutado, esto nos lo cuenta un periodista al inicio del juego, pero en realidad no es así, es alguien que sigue vivo y que solamente fue sedado. Obvio que se despierta luego y comienza a hacer de las suyas, porque hablamos de un asesino en serie prácticamente. El tipo está como siendo controlado por alguien más, pero sin estar preso directamente, la verdad la historia tampoco es muy buena así que no recomiendo prestarle atención. Seguro que si lo juegan verán alguna figura reconocible, como Pigsy, que suena medio raro y todo, pero yo me cansé de verlo en mods para San Andreas hace más de 10 años, era muy común verlo ahí también. El punto con la historia de Manhunt es que es casi que una excusa para que vayas y cometas los asesinatos más brutales que vas a ver en un videojuego, o por lo menos en mi experiencia es de las cosas más locas que he visto.

The Gameplay // La Jugabilidad
Speaking in general of the Manhunt saga, it has a gameplay of an average Playstation 2 shooter, with the particularity that it has that mechanics of the murders, and also some stealth, is how I would define it, but I'm not very clear with the genres of this game. The scariest thing about the game is the freedom it gives you when it comes to murder, just knowing that the protagonist is a murderer already tells you, he is a madman, he can kill with practically anything, and by anything I mean anything, even with syringes, bags or pencils, and of course you have a variety of weapons. I disliked the game at the time, especially because you can kill with practically anything, and also the crudeness of the murders, in fact the game has 3 types of murders, and they are very varied, this is why I think it is not a game for everyone, apart from being a bit boring too, the aesthetics goes well with what you want to look for, but the music of the game, the scenarios, what you can do, is almost a horror game in its own way, and that's why I do not recommend it to everyone, you have to know what you're getting into when you play this game.
Hablando en general de la saga Manhunt, tiene una jugabilidad de un shooter promedio de la Playstation 2, con la particularidad de que tiene esa mecánica de los asesinatos, y también algo de sigilo, es como lo definiría, pero no lo tengo muy claro con los géneros de este juego. Lo más aterrador del juego es la libertad que te da a la hora de asesinar, el solo hecho de saber que el protagonista es un asesino ya te lo dice, es un loco, puede matar con prácticamente cualquier cosa, y con cualquier cosa me refiero a cualquier cosa, incluso con jeringas, bolsas o lápices, y por supuesto tienes variedad de armas. A mí el juego en su momento me desagrado bastante, sobre todo por eso de que puedes matar con prácticamente todo, y también la crudeza de los asesinatos, de hecho el juego tiene 3 tipos de asesinatos, y son muy variados, por esto mismo es que me parece que no es un juego para todos, aparte de ser un poco aburrido también, la estética va bien con lo que quiere buscar, pero la música del juego, los escenarios, lo que puedes hacer, es casi que un juego de terror muy a su propia manera, y por eso no lo recomiendo a cualquiera, tienes que saber a qué le estás entrando al jugar este juego.

I heard in fact that there was like a murder of a guy who was kind of obsessed with this game, and I would not be too surprised, in fact if I agree with some comments in my previous post about violence in video games, some said that video games could be a trigger and also because of the interactivity they give you, and it is true, although I think that video games themselves do not make someone violent, but that happens with any entertainment media, it can be movies, books, TV series, it can be any of these and I don't think it is necessary to emphasize so much on video games, because I feel it is a little unfair with the barbarities that have been done in some movies for social purposes. In conclusion, Manhunt is not a bad game, but I don't think it's good either, and I wouldn't particularly recommend it.
Me entere de hecho que hubo como un asesinato de un tipo que era como medio obsesionado con este juego, y no me sorprendería demasiado, de hecho si estoy de acuerdo con algunos comentarios del anterior post mío sobre la violencia en los videojuegos, algunos decían que los videojuegos podían ser un detonante y también por esa interactividad que te daban, y es cierto, si bien yo pienso que los videojuegos en sí no hacen violento a alguien, según qué persona sí podría ser un detonante para ese tipo de actitudes, pero eso pasa con cualquier medio de entretenimiento, puede ser el cine, los libros, las series de televisión, puede ser cualquier cosa de estas y no creo que sea necesario enfatizar tanto en los videojuegos, porque siento que es un poco injusto con las barbaridades que se han hecho en algunas películas con fines sociales. En conclusión, Manhunt no es mal juego, pero tampoco me parece bueno, y no lo recomendaría particularmente.
