Rockstar for almost two decades has become one of the biggest video game companies that exist so far, we talk about companies like Ubisoft, Capcom, Square Enix, and all those, Rockstar Games is one that is included in that group, and is even more successful, we could say that because of the monumental and biblical success that have been all their games since they launched back then in the sixth generation the third game of the Grand Theft Auto saga. One of the things I thought about Rockstar is that they were just GTA, I pigeonholed them in that one game, also because I did not know much about Max Payne or Manhunt, but these were action games, at open world level they did not do anything else in my opinion, and the GTA saga for me has always had some mistakes that I have already commented on another occasion, but that's another topic, what I want to get is that after GTA IV I did not think they were going to get something else, that's when Red Dead Redemption appeared, a cowboy-themed game that was apparently a GTA with a different theme, but in reality it is different, I will comment, but this is to remember a little the first game, which is forgotten by the wonder that was the second.
Rockstar desde hace prácticamente dos décadas se ha convertido en una de las compañías más grandes de videojuegos que existen hasta ahora, hablamos de compañías como Ubisoft, Capcom, Square Enix, y todas esas, Rockstar Games es una que está incluida en ese grupo, y es hasta más exitosa incluso, podríamos decir eso por el éxito monumental y bíblico que han sido todos sus juegos desde que lanzaron por aquel entonces en la sexta generación el tercer juego de la saga Grand Theft Auto. Una de las cosas que pensé de Rockstar es que eran simplemente GTA, los encasillaba en ese solo juego, también porque no conocía mucho de Max Payne o Manhunt, pero estos eran juegos de acción, a nivel de mundo abierto no hacían otra cosa a mi parecer, y la saga GTA para mí siempre ha tenido unos errores que ya he comentado en otra ocasión, pero ese es otro tema, a lo que quiero llegar es que después de GTA IV no pensé que se fueran a sacar otra cosa, ahí es cuando apareció Red Dead Redemption, un juego con temática de vaqueros que era aparentemente un GTA con una temática distinta, pero en realidad es distinto, ya lo comentaré, pero esto es para recordar un poco el primer juego, que lo tienen olvidado por la maravilla que fue el segundo.
The Launch of the Game
This game if I'm not mistaken was released around 2010 or 2009, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think so, and in fact it came out shortly after GTA IV, and they use the same engine, so I guess it was released shortly after. When I met this game the first thing I really thought was, it's a GTA with cowboys, but when you play it feels very different, at least for me it was, because I'm used to that in the legendary Rockstar saga the joke is to get you in trouble, and here somehow it is, but it is different because it has a more interesting emphasis on the narrative, its protagonist is excellent and let's say it is of that batch of good Rockstar games along with GTA IV, San Andreas, Bully, and some others. In the second game they develop the story even more, but I didn't expect that a cowboy game would move you so much, that's the impression I got with Red Dead Redemption when I played it for the first time.
Este juego si no mal me equivoco fue lanzado por allá en 2010 o 2009, corríjanme si me equivoco, pero creo que es así, y de hecho salió poco tiempo después de GTA IV, y usan el mismo motor, por eso imagino que fue lanzado poco tiempo después. Cuando conocí este juego de verdad que lo primero que pensé fue, es un GTA con vaqueros, pero es que cuando lo juegas se siente muy diferente, por lo menos para mí lo fue, porque estoy acostumbrado a que en la mítica saga de Rockstar el chiste es meterte en problemas, y aquí de algún modo lo es, pero es diferente porque tiene una énfasis más interesante en la narrativa, su protagonista es excelente y digamos que es de esa tanda de juegos buenos de Rockstar junto a GTA IV, San Andreas, Bully, y algunos otros más. En el segundo juego desarrollan más la historia todavía, pero no me esperaba que un juego de vaqueros te fuera a emocionar tanto, esa es la impresión que me topé con Red Dead Redemption cuando lo jugué por primera vez.
Story
The story is about John Marston, an outlaw who belongs to a gang of criminals, and very early on in the story he is blackmailed by some of the federal agents in town and has to do what he can to get his family back, which they used to force him to meet and finish certain targets. The idea sounds super simple, but the truth is that the characters make this come to life, you will get attached to many and hate others, but this is very good and speaks well of the story because it conveys you know, it conveys you something regardless of whether it is bad or good, something like what happened to The Last of Us Part II, only this one was not criticized so much for doing something to its protagonist, the thing is that it is a very exciting story and it would be very sad to tell if you have not played the game, which I doubt, but there are people who have not gone through this first part of the franchise, which I highly recommend before jumping into the second game.
La historia trata de John Marston, un forajido que pertenece a una banda de delincuentes, y que muy al principio de la historia es chantajeado por algunos de los agentes federales del pueblo y que tiene que hacer lo posible por recuperar a su familia, que utilizaron para obligarlo a cumplir y acabar con ciertos objetivos. La idea suena super simple, pero la verdad es que los personajes hacen que esto cobre vida, te encariñaras con muchos y odiaras a otros, pero esto es muy bueno y habla bien de la historia porque te transmite sabes, te transmite algo independientemente de si es malo o bueno, algo así como le pasó a The Last of Us Part II, solo que a este no lo criticaron tanto por hacerle algo a su protagonista, el caso es que es una historia muy emocionante y que sería muy triste de contar si es que no haz jugado el juego, que lo dudo, pero hay gente que no se ha pasado por esta primera parte de la franquicia, cosa que recomiendo gratamente antes de lanzarse hacia el segundo juego.
Gameplay
As for the gameplay, if you play it today you will find something very generic to tell the truth, a game where you can ride a horse and has a cover system that is not so good actually, it feels very artificial, I think the game is not so good in that sense, but it compensates with good physics as has the GTA IV engine that so praised we have it. In the game you can do crazy things like you do in the GTA saga, but it is not the most important thing I think, in fact this is where for the first time appeared the weapon wheel that Rockstar normally uses in their games, of course, that is not something original Rockstar, this is something that had already been seen, but here was the first time we saw it in a Rockstar game I think, but good. The aiming system is very normal, we are talking about a game that only came out on consoles, so it has to have an adapted aiming for PS3 and Xbox 360 controllers, and so it is, the aiming is automatic so it is not an uncomfortable game to play for the realistic physics it has, which I think is perfect that they do so.
En cuanto a la jugabilidad, si lo juegas hoy en día te encontraras con algo muy genérico a decir verdad, un juego donde puedes andar a caballo y tiene un sistema de cobertura que no es tan bueno en realidad, se siente muy artificial, creo que el juego no es tan bueno en ese sentido, pero lo compensa con unas buenas físicas como las tiene el motor de GTA IV que tan alabado lo tenemos. En el juego puedes hacer locuras tipo como las haces en la saga GTA, pero no es lo más importante creo yo, de hecho aquí es donde por primera vez apareció la rueda de armas que utiliza Rockstar normalmente en sus juegos, claro, que no es algo original de Rockstar, esto es algo que ya se había visto, pero aquí fue la primera vez que lo vimos en un juego de Rockstar me parece, pero bueno. El sistema de apuntado es muy normal, hablamos de un juego que solo salió en consolas, por lo tanto tiene que tener un apuntado adaptado para los mandos de PS3 y Xbox 360, y así es, el apuntado es automático para que no sea un juego incómodo de jugar por las físicas realistas que tiene, cosa que me parece perfecto que lo hagan así.

It is undoubtedly an excellent game and one of the best games Rockstar has made in the entire repertoire it has, which is no small thing to say given that these people have a wide catalog of games, especially in the genre of open worlds that we are so accustomed to see. I know that the second game somehow overshadowed the first, and they have half forgotten it, but I highly recommend going through the first game before going for the sequel. This post was also a little to remember the game, it's been a long time since I played it and the truth is not bad to do this kind of retro reviews to remember mythical games that you played in your childhood.
Es sin duda un juego excelente y uno de los mejores videojuegos que ha hecho Rockstar en todo el repertorio que tiene, que no es poco decir dado que esta gente tiene un catálogo amplio de juegos, sobre todo en el género de los mundos abiertos que tan acostumbrados nos tienen a ver. Sé que el segundo juego opaco de alguna forma al primero, y lo tienen medio olvidado, pero recomiendo ampliamente pasarse por el primero antes de ir a por la secuela. Este post era un poco también para recordar al juego, hace mucho tiempo que lo jugué y la verdad no está nada mal tampoco hacer este tipo de reviews retro para recordar juegos míticos que jugaste en tu infancia.
