The graphic art of games has become one of the most outstanding things in the last decade, and with the great output of graphics engines that can scale and model absurdly beautiful images is one of the sections that has come to be positioned organically in the predestined by consumers. At least in my case, I am a person who does not consider this a big factor, but I must recognize that it is one of the most attractive factors when it comes to anyone deciding whether to try a game or not.
Consequently, there have been a lot of visual styles which have been diversifying according to consumers, one of the most prevalent was the futuristic neo-noir style which if you follow my blog you will know that it is one of my favorites. A few weeks ago I saw a game of this style, it reminded me a lot of Ghostrunner -a game that I have brought a few months ago- and as you know I can never pass up the opportunity to try it and bring my impressions of it, so let's go to it!
It is Recompile, a platform adventure game that puts us in the life of a program or AI made up of bits, which seeks to survive in the face of the attempt to be eliminated. To do this, it will be in charge of making its way through the different portals or worlds through the skills it will acquire as it moves forward, these skills -which I will talk about in more detail later- can range from not so lethal to more lethal, becoming a direct attack.
As you will see in it we will embody what is a practically incredible setting with details and quite brutal blurred through what will be a world quite invaded by the cybernetic part itself. Personally, as I said, it is an adventure that aesthetically made me similar to that cybernetic style Ghostrunner roll and is something that I loved completely, I think you could say that in the face of the public is its biggest hook itself when it comes to seeing whether to try it because as you saw is simply beautiful.
On the way as you will see the real strategy will be to pass through the giant world that you pose, it is not an open-world adventure because in theory the maps and areas themselves are regulated, but if we are talking about somewhat large maps. As you progress you will be taught that on many occasions the main roads are not the way to access certain places and that we will have to look for alternate routes to reach our goal itself.
The game's visual mapping is one of the best things about it, but I think that when it comes to orienting yourself with it, it's one of the things that left me with a lot to be desired since most of the time you can feel lost. And even, I think that in the hours that I could play it the only resource similar to a minimap was one of the skills that were the hacking itself, but however the sense of orientation is quite scarce, so you can get to feel lost on many occasions and is that I found it quite bad.
In addition, as I said we will have along the way certain skills that are divided into two important, the lethal and non-lethal, at the beginning of the game our artificial intelligence -we- cannot jump, for example. This is unlocked through auras scattered around the map that help us to advance in it, and in the others, we would have the lethal ones like the ability to shoot that will help us to defend ourselves and break walls on the map to advance in some closed areas by some alternative ways.

Others serve more than anything to advance, such as the ability to hack that will allow us to advance by hacking platforms that do not let us advance in what will be the map itself that we want to explore. These skills can mutate as we advance in the game, getting to be able to hack at a higher range, to perform double jumps, and dashes that will be more useful and usable as we progress in what is the story itself the game however in many occasions we may be stuck if we not having this.
To be honest, I couldn't get to feel much with the story in general of the game since I feel that it doesn't tell you much or look for a general context of it, you can play for hours advancing and not find out what your real object is or at least the context behind it. I don't know if it's something that they will tell you in the long run but to be honest I think they should do it at the beginning as it's the main hook for any consumer trying it to get hooked on it in the first instances and enjoy it even more.
Also, the game itself contains things of a Metroidvania in that we will have to save points that will be quite important when it comes to dying, as our AI contains a life charged from 0 to 100 percent which as we take damage will go down. These are very important, especially when it comes to fall damage and when we face enemies that will constantly do damage to us since the aiming and movement of this game is not the best in themselves, but it works.
It could be said that it is a game a little bit different? Visually it is one of the most beautiful things without a doubt, I think the soundtrack itself and the way it accompanies each scene makes you feel comfortable in a way. However, I think that the gameplay / story section for my part left me halfway, it is an interesting game of course, but being honest it has several shortcomings in the narrative and gameplay in my opinion.
I don't know to what extent I can recommend this title, if you are looking for something different -in a way because it is not completely different- Recompile may be for you, it is something fresh and in a way good to get out of the usual, in my case it is a title that I found good, but it has certain shortcomings in what I mentioned. El arte gráfico de los juegos se ha convertido en una de las cosas más destacadas en la última década, y es que con la gran salida de motores gráficos que pueden escalar y modelar imágenes absurdamente hermosas es uno de los apartados que ha llegado a posicionarse de forma orgánica en las predestinadas por los consumidores. Al menos en mi caso soy una persona que no considero esto como un factor grande, pero si debo reconocer que es uno de los factores que más atraen.
Consecuente a ello han llovido un montón de estilos visuales los cuales se han ido diversificando de acuerdo a los consumidores, uno de los más preponderante era el estilo neo-noir futurista el cual si siguen mi blog sabrán que es uno de mis favoritos. Hace unas semanas vi un juego de este estilo, me recordó muchísimo a Ghostrunner -juego que he traído hace unos meses- y como sabrán nunca puedo pasar la ocasión de ir probándolo y traer mis impresiones de él, así que vamos a ello!
Se trata de Recompile, una aventura gráfica de plataforma que se encarga de ponernos en la vida de un programa o IA formada por bits la cual busca sobrevivir ante el intento de ser eliminada por completo. Para esto se encargará de ir abriéndose camino en los distintos portales o mundos mediante las habilidades que adquirirá al avanzado de su paso, estas habilidades -de las cuales hablaré luego- pueden ir en no tan letales a más letales, llegando a ser directas de ataque.
Como verán en él encarnaremos lo que es una ambientación prácticamente increíble con detalles y difuminados bastante brutales a través de lo que será un mundo bastante invadido por la parte cibernética en sí. Personalmente, como dije, es una aventura que estéticamente se me hizo parecido a ese estilo cibernético rollo Ghostrunner y es algo que me encantó completamente, creo que se podría decir que de cara al público es su mayor gancho en sí a la hora de ver si probarlo o no.
En el camino como verán la real estrategia será poder pasar a través del mundo tan gigante que te plantea, no se trata de una aventura de mundo abierto ya que en teoría los mapas y zonas en sí están reguladas, pero si estamos hablando acerca de mapas algo grandes. Mientras avances te enseñarán que en muchas ocasiones los caminos principales no son las vías para acceder a ciertos lugares y que deberemos de buscar de vías alternas para poder llegar a nuestro objetivo en sí.
Siendo honesto, creo que su mapeado en el apartado visual es una de las mejores cosas, pero creo que a la hora de orientarnos en sí con él es una de las cosas que me dejó mucho que desear ya que en la mayoría de las veces puedes llegar a sentirte perdido. E incluso, creo que en las horas que pude jugarlo en sí el único recurso parecido a un minimapa fue una de las habilidades que era el hackeo, pero sin embargo el sentido de orientarte es bastante escaso, por lo cual me perdí mucho.
Además, como conté tendremos en el camino ciertas habilidades que se dividen en básicamente dos importantes, las letales y las no letales, al principio del juego nuestra inteligencia artificial -nosotros- no disponemos de la capacidad de saltar, por ejemplo. Esto se desbloque a través de auras repartidas por el mapa que nos ayudan a avanzar en él, y en las otras tendríamos las letales como la capacidad del disparo que nos ayudará para defendernos y romper muros en el mapa.

También están otras que sirven más que nada para avanzar, como la capacidad de hackeo que nos permitirá poder avanzar hackeando plataformas que no nos dejen avanzar en lo que será el mapa en sí que queramos explorar. Estas habilidades pueden ir mutando a medida que avancemos en el juego, llegando a poder hackear a un rango mayor, poder realizar doble saltos, dashes que nos serán más útiles y usables a paso de que vayamos progresando en lo que es la historia en sí del juego.
Siendo sincero, no pude llegar a sentir gran cosa con la historia en general del juego ya que en sí siento que no se encarga mucho de contártela o de buscar un contexto en general de él, puedes llegar a jugar por horas avanzando en sí y no enterarte realmente cual es tu real objeto o al menos el contexto que hay detrás de él. De igual forma no sé realmente si es algo que a la larga irán encargándose de contar pero siendo sinceros pienso que deberían hacerlo en un principio.
Además, el juego en sí contiene cosas de un metroidvania en el que tendremos puntos de guardado que serán bastante importantes a la hora de morir, ya que nuestra IA contiene una vida cargada del 0 al 100 por ciento la cual a medida que recibamos daño se irá bajando. Estas son muy importantes, sobre todo a la hora del daño por caída y cuando enfrentamos enemigos que constantemente irán haciéndonos daños ya que el apuntado y movido de este juego no es el mejor en sí, pero funciona.
Podría decirse que es un juego un poco ¿Diferente? Visualmente es una de las cosas más hermosas sin duda alguna, creo que su soundtrack en sí y la manera con la que acompaña cada escena hace que en cierta forma te sientas confortable. Sin embargo, creo que en el apartado de la jugabilidad/historia por mi parte me dejó a medias, es un juego interesante claro está, pero siendo sinceros tiene varias carencias en la parte narrativa y de jugabilidad en mi opinión.
No sé hasta que punto pueda llegar a recomendar este título, si realmente estás buscando algo diferente -en cierta forma, ya que no lo es del todo- puede que Recompile llegue a ser para ti, es algo fresco y en cierta forma bueno para salir de lo habitual, en mi caso es un título que me pareció bueno, pero que tiene ciertas carencias en lo que mencioné.
