Some days ago I've been looking for new co-op games that I haven't had the opportunity to take a look at in the past, looking at the catalog of those available in the Xbox game pass I talked to @therealflaws to see which would be good to try and that could allow us to play several, at least 4, and in the conversation came out a very controversial one.
As you know, zombie games have always been one of our favorite categories, if we talk about this it is obvious that anyone will come to mind deliveries such as Left 4 Dead, which is a game that we put quite a few hours into Hive Gaming. Well, digging a little we saw that in the catalog was available the Back 4 Blood, for those who are aware this is a continuation of this saga that unlike previous installments was not very successful and was criticism at the time, but really why did this happen?.
The truth is that at first, you do not know, a triple a title that looked very good in everything, I did not understand why and I refused to say it until I tried it so after downloading it we set out to see how it was and give my appreciations of the game. In this post, I want to focus on the experience and sensations that it gave me concerning certain things that are said so that in this way I can say more honestly about many myths or criticisms that have been said, so let's get to it.
First of all, it is evident that due to the great difference in years, the graphical improvements will be noticeable, another newer engine is used, etc. The game graphically is quite nice, it gave me air to Dead Island mixed with things from Dying Light, plus its animations are super similar to those of any CoD I felt inside the zombie mode of Black Ops 2, as the aiming I saw it very necessary because the hip sight is not very reliable.
So, the first criticism at the time was.
Is it the same, but 'prettier'?
Well, there are some -very few- innovations, but in a way, you could say that it is something like that, although I can go off the branch with other points that I will touch on later, many things duplicate them like the theme of the different types of zombies that we could already see in l4d2 like the Boomer's, Jockey's, a kind of 'Charger' but I still missed the Witch, Tanks, etc. features. I guess things are still missing.
As opposed to this part, I've seen some others that are inspired by that Jockey that jumps on top of you suddenly, but he usually hides in some buildings or objects attached to the wall, so getting a scare is a super easy thing. Also, another thing was the bosses, yes, in these mappings we see bosses in the maps that are quite difficult which is something that I find cool since it's not just 'hold off waves' as it was before.
Also, -The AI- of the zombies, because it is something that gives a lot to talk about and it is surprising the downgrade, several videos usually compare it I can leave one that a friend passed me and it is true that in l4d2 used to be a little better modeled this aspect in a big sense. It is well known that zombies responded to bullets more naturally than they are supposed to do since in this case, it is indifferent where you shoot, the zombie just falls and that's it.
Personally, this was something that I did not like at all, but I will not say that it will ruin the experience completely since the essence of being a zombie video game is there and playing it with people in co-op as well. Although it leaves something to be desired since we are talking about one of the titles with more hypes in terms of this niche, and for the price, the reputation, the story, and so on that has what at least you want is to focus resources on the star section of the game.
Many times, it's something that happens to me with many games of this kind that I don't know if it's their intention, but on most occasions, they focus more on the fun of passing missions, how difficult it can be to contain hordes, etc. And the fear part is left aside, something very positive in B4B is that I feel that fear is something that you can feel very easily, there are several moments where the sound is very well done, where you can suddenly scare yourself, and this is something I liked about it.
But let's get to the point, is it worth it to be a third part of the legendary saga? Well, in my opinion, is that no, it is a game that is very good in several ways, to be honest, I think if you are a fan of this saga and already have something burned the L4D 1 or 2, it is a change that you will enjoy a lot without a doubt because there are several factors that, although they are not the big thing, innovate in something and make you feel that the essence was not lost as such.
In my playing time, I can say, this game is pretty good, it is entertaining and fulfills the essence of an L4D, which is what you are looking for, to tell the truth. Now, if we go to what, would I buy it? Well personally no, I think that for the high price of being a triple a hype I don't think it's worth it because if you are a fan of the saga you might be disappointed, even if it's a little or a lot. Hace días que he estado buscando nuevos juegos que fueran co-op y que en el pasado no haya tenido la oportunidad de darles un vistazo, viendo un poco el catálogo de los disponibles en el gamepass de Xbox hablé con @therealflaws para ver cual estaría bueno probar y que tuvieran capacidad de permitirnos jugar varios, al menos 4 y en la conversación salió uno muy controversial.
Como sabrán, los juegos de zombis siempre han sido una de las categorías predilectas por nosotros, si hablamos de esto es algo evidente que a cualquier se le vendrán a la cabeza entregas como Left 4 Dead, el cual es un juego que le echamos bastantes horas en Hive Gaming. Pues indagando un poco vimos que en el catálogo estaba disponible el Back 4 Blood, quienes sabrán esta es una continuación de esta saga la cual no tuvo mucho éxito, pero, ¿realmente por qué pasó esto?
La verdad es que a primeras no se sabe, un título triple a que pintaba muy bien en todo, no entendía el por qué y me negaba a decirlo hasta probarlo así que luego de bajarlo nos dispusimos para ver que tal era y dar mis apreciaciones del juego. Este post quiero centrarlo en la experiencia y sensaciones que me dio con respecto a ciertas cosas que se dicen, para que de esta forma pueda decir de forma más sincera sobre muchos mitos o críticas que han dicho, así que vamos a ello.
Lo primero, es evidente que por la gran diferencia de años las mejoras gráficas serán notables, se usa otro motor más nuevo, etc. El juego gráficamente es bastante bonito, me dio un aire a Dead Island mezclado con cosas del Dying Light, además de sus animaciones super parecidas a las de cualquier CoD, de hecho me sentí dentro del modo zombis del Black Ops 2, ya que el apuntar lo vi muy necesario porque la mira de cadera no es muy fiable que digamos, ya que es imprecisa.
Entonces, la primera crítica que se hizo en su momento fue
¿Es lo mismo, pero más bonito?
Pues, hay algunas -muy pocas- innovaciones, pero en cierta forma podría decirse que realmente es algo así, aunque puedo ir de la rama con otros puntos que tocaré más adelante, pero muchas cosas las duplican como el tema de los diferentes tipos de zombis que ya podíamos ver en l4d2 como los Boomer’s, Jockey’s, una especie de ‘Charger’ pero aún me ha faltado a las características Witch, Tanks, etc. Supongo que me faltan cosas por ver aún, pero en la mayoría se ve que son las mismas.
Como contrario de esta parte, he visto algún otro que se inspira en ese Jockey que salta encima de ti de forma repentina, pero suele esconderse en algunas edificaciones u objetos pegados a la pared, por lo que llevarse un susto es una cosa super fácil. También otra cosa eran los bosses, sí, en estos mapeados vemos bosses en los mapas que son bastante difíciles lo cual es algo que me parece cool ya que no sólo es ‘aguantar oleadas’ como sucedía antes, esto es algo que me gustó también.
También, -La IA- de los zombis, pues es algo de lo cual da mucho que hablar y es sorprendente el downgrade, Hay varios vídeos que suelen compararla, de hecho, puedo dejar uno que me pasó un amigo y es cierto que en l4d2 solía estar un poco mejor modelado este aspecto en un gran sentido. Bien es sabido que los zombis respondían a las balas de una forma más natural a como se supone que deberían hacerlo ya que en este caso es indiferente donde dispares, el zombi sólo cae y ya.
Personalmente, en esto fue algo que no me gustó nada, pero que tampoco diré que te arruinará la experiencia por completo ya que en sí la esencia de ser un videojuego de zombis está ahí latente y el jugarlo con personas en co-op también. Aunque deja bastante que desear ya que hablamos de uno de los títulos con más hypes en cuanto a este nicho, y por el precio, el renombre, la historia y demás que tiene lo que por lo menos se desea es que centren recursos en el apartado estrella.
Muchas veces, es algo que me sucede con muchos juegos de esta índole que no sé si es su intención, pero en la mayoría de las ocasiones centran más en la diversión de pasar misiones, lo difícil que puede ser contener hordas, etc. Y la parte del miedo la dejan de lado, algo muy positivo en B4B es que siento que el miedo es algo que puedes sentir muy fácil, hay varios momentos donde el sonido está muy bien hecho, donde te pueden asustar repentinamente, y esto es algo que me gustó.
Pero vamos al grano, ¿Vale la pena como para ser una tercera entrega de la legendaria saga? Pues, en mi opinión es que no, es un juego que está muy bien en varios sentidos, a decir verdad, creo que, si eres fanático de esta saga y ya tienes algo quemado el L4D 1 o 2, pues es un cambio que disfrutarás muchísimo sin lugar a dudas ya que de hecho hay varios factores que, si bien no son la gran cosa, innova en algo y hacen sentirte que la esencia no se perdió como tal, algo muy bueno.
En mi tiempo de juego puedo decir, este juego está bastante bueno, es entretenido y cumple con la esencia de un L4D que es lo que busca, a decir verdad. Ahora, si vamos a qué ¿me lo compraría? Pues personalmente no, creo que para el elevado precio de ser un hype triple a no creo que valga tanto la pena porque puede a lo mejor si eres fanático de la saga decepcionarte, así sea un poco o bastante.
