I've always been a big fan of adventures that are responsible for telling us an elaborate story through something called a thriller, where the main resource they exploit to make us consumers hooked the pure suspense where we are always intrigued about what will happen later, in addition to the usual tension that is generated when we enter certain lonely scenarios.
Siempre he sido un gran fanático de las aventuras que se encargan de contarnos una historia elaborada a través de algo llamado thriller, donde el principal recurso que explotan para hacernos a los consumidores engancharnos el suspenso puro en dónde siempre estamos a la intriga de que cosa podrá suceder más adelante, además de la usual tensión que se genera cuando entramos a un escenario abandonado.
If we look closely, this is what hooks us in many books, novels, series, movies, etc. Video games too, at least in my case it is one of the genres that I enjoy the most and from which I usually get hooked a lot. Some time ago, I saw a game that exploited this resource quite a lot, through a story in forests where many will know that it is the perfect setting to build a story of such caliber and as you can see in the title, today we will play a special game, Firewatch.
Si vemos bien, esto es lo que nos engancha a muchos libros, novelas, series, películas, etc. En los videojuegos también, al menos en mi caso es uno de los géneros que más disfruto y de los cuales suelo engancharme mucho. Hace tiempo, vi un juego que explotaba este recurso bastante, a través de una historia en bosques donde muchos sabrán que es el perfecto escenario para armar una historia de tal calibre y así como lo ven en el título, hoy jugaremos a un especial juego, Firewatch.
Firewatch for those who don't know is an indie game, it bases its section on a very interesting story and pretty nice graphics, as you will see in the video I wanted to focus the video on how was my experience during my first hours of play and in this publication I will bring what my impressions were in that hour, what things I did not like, what things I did like and what I usually think as a final note of the game in general.
Firewatch para quienes no lo conozcan es un juego indie, basa su apartado en una historia muy interesante y gráficos bastantes bonitos, como verán en el vídeo quise centrar el video en como fue mi experiencia durante mis primeras horas de juego y en esta publicación traeré cuales fueron mis impresiones en esa hora, qué cosas no me gustaron, que cosas sí y que suelo opinar como nota final del juego en general.
As the main plot is something that we can see as we move forward in it, we are Henry, someone who by what we are shown in the dialogues and decisions of the beginning had a difficult life with his ex-wife. We accept a position as a ranger in a control tower, the thing emerges in that we are shown that no one has been able to do this job and through events, we discover why, as we are in a mysterious forest with many mysteries.
Firewatch como trama principal es algo que podemos ir viendo mientras avanzamos en ella, somos Henry, alguien que por lo que nos muestran en los diálogos y decisiones del principio tuvo una vida difícil con su exesposa. Aceptamos un puesto como guardabosques en una torre de control, la cosa emerge en que se nos va mostrando que nadie ha podido con este trabajo y mediante sucesos vamos descubriendo el por qué, ya que estamos metidos en un bosque misterioso y con muchos misterios.

Comienzan contandonos una historia en la cual podemos dar elección libre entre algunas decisiones en ciertas ocasiones, desconozco realmente si eso repercute en cosas que puedan suceder más adelante, pero si bien puede que así no sea, es algo que me indica en general que sí. De todas formas, esta historia primordial suele parecer de nuestro personaje, pero es algo que iremos viendo ya que vemos un contraste de algo que sucede mucho más adelante y algo que nos cuentan que sucedió hace mucho.
While, something that surprised me a lot was how well the game manages to look for the little that weighs 4 GB, after playing it I decided to see what engine was running and I saw that it was in Unity, which never ceases to amaze me. As you can see its visual section is focused on a nice aesthetic something like a cartoon tone in which we can see it accompanied by whistling birds, and winds, which always accompany very well the themes of the weather when we walk.
Si bien, algo que me sorprendió mucho era lo bien que el juego logra verse para lo poco que pesa que son 4 GB, luego de jugarlo decidí ver en que motor estaba corriéndose y vi que era en Unity, el cual nunca deja de sorprenderme. Como verán su apartado visual se centra en una linda estética algo acatar tonada casi como de caricatura en la cual podemos verla acompañada junto con silbidos de pájaros, vientos, que acompañan muy bien siempre las temáticas del clima cuando caminamos.

También disponemos de muchas herramientas en nuestro tiempo de juego, nuestra principal por supuesto es un walkie-talkie con el cual nos podemos comunicar con Delilah que será nuestra guía en todo -casi- momento, y de la cual podremos elegir si informarle de cosas que encontramos o no de acuerdo a lo que creamos más conveniente en el momento.
As one of the things that I could say that I find bad is the sense of direction and how they put the missions, you will notice many times I wandered in search of knowing if I'm in the right direction or not. Also, I think I don't know if it's my intuition, some missions can become like 'go back to camp' but the path is closed, however, I give a benefit of the doubt because being a forest maybe that's what the game wants, to make you feel lost.
Como una de las cosas que podría decir que me parecen malas es el sentido de orientación y como ponen las misiones, si bien se darán cuenta muchas veces divagaba en busca de saber si estoy en la orientación correcta o no. Además, creo que no sé si es mi intuición, algunas misiones pueden llegar a ser como ‘vuelve al campamento’ pero el camino está cerrado, sin embargo, doy un beneficio de la duda porque al ser un bosque quizás es lo que el juego desea, hacerte sentir perdido.

Hay una especie de ‘cajas’ repartidas a lo largo del mapa, las cuales suelen ser resguardadas con un candado, por lo general todas tienen el mismo código que es 1-2-3-4 -código bastante inteligente he- y en ellas esconden contenido, como libros o cosas que podremos ir preguntando a Delilah. Además, en ello tenemos una especie de mapas con los cuales podremos tomar nota de ellos en el nuestro, para así saber que poder encontrar en una zona inexplorada.

El mapeado me parece genial, como sabrán entonces, es un bosque inmenso lleno de caminos por los cuales es demasiado fácil perderse, de hecho, en el gameplay verán que llego a una de las casas donde ocurrió un hecho desafortunado que fue el incendio forestal, se nota bastante. Also, hand in hand with the above, the setting is something that I found brutal, how well done the sounds are and how paranoid they can make us in different situations if you see the gameplay I mention that at one point where it began to thunder I did not know if it was really in the game or my home since we are in times of rain lol, plus when we entered the burned house and everything becomes total suspense.
También de la mano con lo anterior, la ambientación es algo que me pareció brutal, lo bien hecho que están los sonidos y lo paranoicos que pueden ponernos en distintas situaciones, de hecho, si ven el gameplay menciono que en un momento donde empezó a tronar no sabía si realmente era en el juego o en mi hogar ya que estamos en épocas de lluvia lol, además de cuando entramos a la casa quemada y todo se torna en un suspenso total.
In the end, the story continues with a lot of hype, we meet a guy when we are climbing Thunder Canyon, he shines a light on us in a mysterious way and then escapes so that when we return to the tower, guala, we were raided by a mysterious being. The only thing is, it gets weirder and weirder, and honestly, I'm realizing the mystery of why the previous rangers didn't end up staying on the job.
Al final la historia continua con muchísimo hype, nos encontramos a un sujeto cuando estamos escalando el Thunder Canyon, nos alumbra de una forma bastante misteriosa y luego escapa para que cuando volvamos a la torre, guala, fuimos allanados por un ser misterioso. Lo único es que, cada vez se torna muchísimo más raro y sinceramente me voy dando cuenta del misterio del por qué los anteriores guardabosques no se terminaron quedando en el puesto.
Anyway, so far my appreciation of this game, no doubt I think it has surprised me a lot and for the little that weighs is becoming a very interesting game for all the sections that I was explaining, has an interesting story, and is an indie that shows how well done it is. For my part, I think I will continue with the story to see how it goes, those who want to try it if you have the Xbox gamepass is available in the catalog, I think it is definitely worth giving it a try, but well, if you got this far thank you very much as always and see you in the next one!
En fin, hasta aquí mis apreciaciones de este juego, sin duda creo que me ha sorprendido muchísimo y para lo poco que pesa está convirtiéndose en un juego bastante interesante por todos los apartados que fui explicando, tiene una historia interesante y además es un indie que se nota lo bien hecho que está. Yo por mi parte, creo que iré continuando con la historia a ver que tal, quienes deseen probarlo si tienen el gamepass de Xbox está disponible en el catalogo, creo que vale rotundamente darle una probada, pero bueno, si llegaste hasta acá muchísimas gracias como siempre y nos vemos en la siguiente!
