Night City… Night Fucking City. A year ago I thought it would be the last time I ever saw this place. Left it for greener pastures, or so I thought. Had the brilliant idea to move down to Atlanta, take some gigs down there and make a name for myself. But, well, things didn’t go exactly as planned, and afterall you know the saying, You can take the boy out of Night City, but you can’t take Night City out of the boy. And that’s how I found myself back in the place I was so desperate to get out of.
Being a street kid I never had a lot of options in front of me growing up, so naturally I headed towards the “unsavoury” life style. I became quick with a gun and my fists, afterall if you wanted to survive the streets for any longer than a second you needed to be willing to shoot first.
A month back in Night City, and things were not going my way, not in the least. Few gigs were getting tossed my way and even fewer eddies. So what do you do when you’re low on eddies and after you get a beatdown? You go to the bar and drink. That’s how I found myself in El Coyote Cojo, talking to Pepe, the bartender. After shooting the shit with him, he let me know that he was in trouble. He owed the local, wannabe tough guy, piece of shit loan shark money, and that money was passed due. With nothing better to do, and having a particular hatred towards Kirk, I agreed to talk to him for Pepe to see what could be done.
! [Spanish]Ciudad Nocturna... Ciudad Nocturna de Mierda. Hace un año pensé que sería la última vez que vería este lugar. Lo dejé por pastos más verdes, o eso pensé. After being sized up by his bodyguard, I sat down across from Kirk and laid it out for him. I wanted him to give Pepe more time. Kirk got this smirk across his face, a smirk one gets when they catch the mouse who's been shitting in their cereal. He would completely forgive Pepe’s debt, and in fact, line my own pockets with eddies if I stole a car. The only problem, it was a one-in-a-kind type of car, or more technically one of ten kinds. There was no way it could be started with a regular hotwire job, and I made it known to Kirk. He smirked again and passed me a key.

He assured me it would be a walk in the park. All I had to do was go to the garage where the corpo prick who owned it had parked it, talk to the guard, who was in Kirk’s pocket and would shut down the security cameras, and take the car out of there.
On my way to the location, I ran into a family face, Padre, who was watching his henchman stuff a man into the back of his truck. Padre was a good man, a man of the cloth, and he was a fixer. He asked me if I wanted a ride, which I accepted.

We talked about a few things, before being accosted by some Sixth Street Gang goons. They pulled us over, and one of them started talking shit to the Padre. And No one talks shit about my friends. I told the guy off, he seemed a bit shocked but did eventually back off. Padre thanked me, before dropping me off at the underground parking lot.

A walk in the park Kirk said, and it was. Right up until the point I hopped in the car, turned it on, and found a heater pointed at my head, by a monster of a man. My first instinct was to floor the car forward, the only problem, it didn’t work. The man tossed me from the car, and before he could do anything else, flashing lights. The cops were there. The leader of them Stints, used to be a Heywood boy, but decided the life of a pig was better. He talked about how all of us were vermin, before the corpo owner of the car came out, and told Stints more or less to kill the both of us.

But Stints, still had some bit of dignity left in him. Instead he just beat us half to death and dumped us in an alley. You might think that we both went for each other’s throats right away, but we didn’t. Instead we talked. The man’s name was Jackie, and he told me some information about Kirk, mostly that the rumor of him having cartel backing was complete BS and afterwards, we went out to get some food.

The next year was filled with a bunch of hijinks, jobs and good times. I quickly began to think of Jackie as a brother. We were partners. We either won together, or got the shit beat out of us together. Jackie had made his ambitions clear. He wanted to go all the way to the top, and that’s exactly what I wanted… Or what I thought I wanted at the time. We had hooked up with T-Bug an edgerunner who came in handy more than once.

If I was to say the moment our problems became, it would actually be before they began. We got a gig, this corpo chick had gone offline, and he last known whereabouts was in a blackmarket organ ring. We were to get in there, get her back online, if she was still alive, and leave the Corpo medics do the rest.
Do you know what one of these rings look like? I’ve seen a lot of fucked up shit in my life, but I would never forget the look of this place. Bodies on tables with all of their implants yanked out of them, empty eyeball sockets staring towards the roof. Me and Jackie thought the exact same thing and we made sure that everyone responsible for these sights paid with their life.

In the back of the apartment, in the bathroom, was two bodies one of them was Sandra, the woman we were looking for, and she was barely alive. We were able to restart her and bring her online, and then the Corpo medics came. We took her to the terrace where a Medic car landed and men jumped out pointing their guns at me and Jackie, they told us to place her body on a gurney. And once we did they were off.

It’s kind of fucked up the lengths these guys would go through to help a single person just because they wore a shiny suit, while some people in Heywood could barely afford a can to piss in. But hey, that’s life I suppose.
Wakako our fixer for the job, got a hold of us telling us that payment would be waiting but also gave us a heads up that Watson was going in full lockdown, our home. Jackie took the wheel, and after dealing with some Scavangers who were not happy with what we did with their buddies, we made it to Watson, but too late. Jackie though was able to sweet-talk to cop, and she let us through the road block.

Dex Shaw, a once upon a time big time Fixer wanted us for a job. We were to meet him. But before we did that, we went to Vic’s a ripperdoc, and my second closest friend next to Jackie.

Vic fixed me right up, he got rid of the virus in my system, and also gave me a top of the line cyber implant. I told him that there was no way I could pay him back but he assured me we would work something out, especially since it looked like I would be hitting the big times very soon.

With the new implant, I met with Dex he wanted to “feel me up” so to speak. Dex came off as a straight shooter, and someone who was at least once a powerful man. He told me that I needed to meet with a few people before the job could kick off.

Araska had developed a prototype chip, that was worth a fortune, and before leaving the Owner’s son, had swiped it. We were to steal the chip and sell it.

Before we could begin though, she brought me down to a sort of den to meet Judy Parker, a techie. She wasn’t happy that Evelynn used her real name as this job was dangerous. But let’s be real here, worrying about that type of thing is so amateur. Eveylnn being a “Doll” was able to capture a braindance of Yorniobu’s apartment while she was on a “call.”

We couldn’t dive right into that, we had to use another one first, and goddamn did it hurt. It was the first time I used a braindance. There was a robbery and I was there, and as I was coming out of the store I was shot in the head. I felt everything, I felt myself dying, before waking up. With my details all synced I dived in Evelynn’s Braindance.

I was able to find out where the Chip was kept. And with that done, it was time to continue with the set up. But before I left Evelynn made a proposition. We cut Dex out of the deal, stab him in the back and split the money from the chip 50/50. Maybe if I was some Corpo scum I’d take the deal, but where I come from your word is your reputation, and I turned her down.

Next up I had to acquire some military tech, a drone-like creature that could camouflage and hack into systems. Dex had already paid for it from a gang who had raided a militech convoy. The only problem is that the gang had a change in leadership. Now I could go in, tell them that the drone was already paid for, or I could take a separate route. You see a no-nonsense worker for Militech named Meridith Stout was looking to get some revenge for the raid. And I arranged a meeting with her.

It didn’t go good.. At first. I was pinned against a wall and had a gun to my face. I bluffed Meridith telling her that there was a sniper covering me, and she seemed a bit uneasy.After explaining why I was there things seemed to ease off a bit. She was willing to help me so long as I used her credit chip to pay for the drone again, that way she can track the gang. I agreed.

I met Jackie outside of their hideout, and they let us in easy enough. These things had replaced every body part they could with chrome. They looked more robot than human. As we were guided further in the factory we finally got to our meeting place. The meeting once again didn’t go as planned. No one fucks V around, and that’s exactly what these pieces of shit were trying to do. Sure, I wouldn’t have been paying for the bot again, it would be Meridith, but a man has principles. And when a man has a gun pointed at his head, those principles are pretty damn important.
! [Spanish]Me encontré con Jackie fuera de su escondite y nos dejaron entrar con bastante facilidad. Estas cosas habían reemplazado cada parte del cuerpo que pudieron con cromo. I gave a look at Jackie, and before the leader Royce could pull the trigger of the gun he had pointed at me, I pulled my own heater out and placed it under his chin. Jackie already had his weapon pulled out. With a pull of the trigger, Royce’s brain was splattered all over the floor.
We dived behind the couch, and a fire fight took place. We fought through a dozen of these things, before eventually coming across the old leader of the gang, who was booby trapped to a chair. If he moved the mines around him went boom. I was able to disarm the mines, and free him, reminding him that now he owed me.

As we exited the factory, covered in blood and smelling of gun powder, we were greeted by a militech Convoy. Meredith was at the head of it. She wasn’t happy that we didn’t use her chip. But the job was done.

We called Dex to let him know we got his toy and than headed to Afterife. The drinks here were named after legends who went out in a blaze of glory and Jackie was determined that he would have a drink named after him.

We met Dex in a soundproof room along with T-Bug. Everything was set to go. We would infiltrate a hotel, posing as Arms dealers. Use the bot to disable the security systems in the hotel, and then walk right up to the penthouse and steal the chip without a problem.

After changing to look the part, Dex had top-of-the-line transportation arraganged for us, a delamine car with the very top package. Me and Jackie talked about how after this job we would be in the big times, and what we could do with the money before we arrived at the hotel.

We played the part well and got to our room with almost no problem. There we set up the bot and began to get to work. Thanks to Vic’s upgrade I was able to control the bot, I maneuvered him through different rooms. I spotted the mayor having an interesting conversation with another man.

I ended up encountering a dweller, a person who constantly monitors the security system from within the system themselves, and with the dweller I fried them, and the rest should have been easy as 1,2,3.

We got to the penthouse, and I nabbed a snazzy gun I spotted in Evelynn’s braindance before getting the chip. As we were leaving, a helicopter landed. Jackie and I dipped into a fake wall behind a TV. And what we saw, was something else. Yorinobu and his father walked into the penthouse with their bodyguards Adam Smasher, and another man. They dismissed their guards to make the conversation private.
! [Spanish]Llegamos al ático y agarré una elegante pistola que vi en el cerebro de Evelynn antes de conseguir el chip. Cuando nos íbamos aterrizó un helicóptero. Jackie y yo nos sumergimos en una pared falsa detrás de un televisor. Y lo que vimos, fue otra cosa. Yorinobu y su padre entraron al ático con sus guardaespaldas Adam Smasher y otro hombre. Yornibu was a wannabe tough guy. Using his money to buy his own gang instead of actually having what it takes to create one. Him and his father argued, and that argument ended with Yornibu strangling him. Yorinobu seemed upset at first, before telling the hotel to go into lockdown as an assassin had just killed his father.

The guards rushed back in. His father’s guard questioned what happened but Yornibu put him in his place reminding him his job was the protect the owner of Arasaka, and that was now him. When he left, me and Jackie delta out of there.
We made our way across the roof, shimmying along a ledge in the pouring rain with the chip, and then a gunship spotted us, leaving the penthouse were an assassination attempt took place. They opened fire. Me and Jackie slid down the roof, before crashing through some glass and landing back inside the hotel. The only problem, the case where the chip was kept was broken.

We hopped in it, and it initiated combat mode, taking on Adam Smasher, and getting us away.

I met with Dex at No Tell Motel and things were not good. The robbery was all over the news and Dex was not happy. Before we met his henchman took my weapons. Dex was mad, blaming the thing on me and Jackie, and I lost my temper. It was his fault, his fucking fault my brother was dead. His intel was fucked, no where did he say that Yornibu’s father would be there! And I let him know, I let him know that Jackie Welles, the closest friend I had was dead because of his fuck up.

The rage built up in em again and I smashed the mirror imagining it to be Dex’s face.

Luego me dijo que fuera a lavarme en el baño. Me miré en el espejo del baño, con la cara cubierta de sangre… la sangre de Jackie. La rabia volvió a acumularse en ellos y rompí el espejo imaginando que era la cara de Dex.
Once I calmed down I exited the bathroom only for Dex henchman to grab me and slam me against the ground. Dex took a gun from the goon, and walked towards me. I knew what was going to happen, I was going to be seeing Jackie very soon. I promised Dex that I would fucking kill him, and I meant it. The last thing I heard was a gunshot and everything went black.
! [Spanish]Una vez que me calmé, salí del baño solo para que el secuaz de Dex me agarrara y me golpeara contra el suelo. Dex le quitó el arma al matón y caminó hacia mí. Sabía lo que iba a pasar, iba a ver a Jackie muy pronto. Le prometí a Dex que lo mataría, y lo dije en serio. Lo último que oí fue un disparo y todo se volvió negro.
