A London judge has granted a two month pause for Microsoft, ABK and the CMA (The UK's equivalent to the FTC) to sort out their problems. This comes right after Microsoft won the case against the FTC in the USA.
This pause is supposed to last for 2 months, and while this is in a UK court and 40 other countries have already authorised the deal, it still means the acquisition itself will be halted internationally.
This is definitely a big blow to gamers who were expecting to get their Call of Duty fix on Gamepass anytime soon.
The CMA does not appear to be wanting to relent, instead seeming as if they wish for an entirely new proposal. Basically, they're annoying bums.
Microsoft's lawyer Daniel Beard said: "The UK is the only impediment to closing this deal and speed is of the essence."
The pause may end up being a good thing, but the way I see it it's just another impediment for Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard to get past on their inevitable 69 billion dollar merger.
I'm used to waiting already though. I first reported on the acquisition I think a year ago and have been patiently waiting for this day, I think I can handle another 2 months, we'll see.
