Since the pandemic started in the early 2020s, all of us are at home, just working and trying to be sane. I was looking for a game that I would like to play. Since my childhood, I am fond of MMORPG games. Spending overnight at Internet Cafes just to play. I don't necessarily like MOBA games though, so I'm not a Mobile Legends or DOTA kind of person. Going back to looking for a game, one thought popped into my mind. Last 2018, a mobile version of one of my favorite games on PC was released. RAGNAROK MOBILE: ETERNAL LOVE was released sometime in 2018, I was one of the early players but due to business at work back then, I quit.
Jumping to 2020, I installed again Ragnarok Mobile: Eternal Love on my lousy Android Phone. I tried to revisit my old character and viola! It was still alive. However, I thought, I think it would be better to create a new one for a fresh start.
So I created a new one! However, the class I liked is difficult to play with. I need to upgrade its equipment better which is kind of complicated for someone who just started. So, I created a new one and chose a beginner-friendly class. Before we get into the deep details, I think you are already lost. Class? Complicated equipment? Skills? What's that??
WHAT IS RAGNAROK MOBILE: ETERNAL LOVE?
This game is an MMORPG (Multi Massive Online Role Playing Game) which allows the player to create a character and set forth on an adventure in the Rune Midgard. This game is based on Norse Mythology, so characters like Jormungandr, or Fenrir are common. You will start as a Novice, which means you will undergo a tutorial. After reaching a certain level, it is time for you to select a Job. Just like in Isekai Animes like "The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime", your character will select a Job. Each Job has its characteristics that depend on your liked gameplay. Here are the First Job Classes in Ragnarok Mobile:
- Swordsman - Uses sword to fight, usually is a melee-type fighter. Later on, the game can be a Tank or a damager.
- Acolyte - Main Support class in the game. They can heal, and provide buffs. Later on in the game, they can be a full support Priest or a high burst damager as a Monk.
- Archer - Long-range fighters using bow and arrow. Later on in the game, they can tame Hawk or a Wolf that would help them fight, or they can become Dancers or Bards, because why not? haha
- Mage - who doesn't love magic? Mages are adept in magic. They can dish out huge damage output. The downside is their long casting time and their expensive equipment. haha!
- Merchant - this class is I would say one of the most beginner-friendly classes. They have easy-to-understand skills, they deal high damage output, and they can easily earn money. They have a special skill to upscale the price of items they sell to NPC (non-playing characters), and they can have a discount when buying items from NPC. What a job!
- Thief - a melee fighter that uses a dagger. They have the skill to hide from enemies. Later on in the game, they can be assassins or they can be rogues.
- Super Novice - this class is an advancement of the Novice class. They are blessed with a mixture of skills from the above classes. They can be a magic type or physical type depending on your gameplay.
- Ninja - Unlike Thief, they can dish out magical attacks. They're really great with PVP! (Player vs Player)
- Gunslinger - They use guns when attacking. They can attack from a very long range, longer than the Archers.
- Soul Linker - Magic-type users that use Ghost element primarily. They can deal single-burst damage, and can also be a great support to other classes.
- Taekwon - They are karate specialists and can deal with massive damage output.
- Doram - a special race of cats that can deal with physical and magical skills. Because why not? haha
These classes are just the beginning. After you changed to your First Job Class and meet a certain level, you will be changed to Second Job Class, Then to Third Job Class, then lastly to your Fourth Job Class. It seemed to be long but it would be an enjoyable journey.
WHY I LOVE PLAYING RAGNAROK MOBILE: ETERNAL LOVE
As I shared earlier, I love playing MMORPG games and the Ragnarok PC game was one of them. When the mobile version was released, it was not the same as the PC version but there are bits of it. Now, here are some of the reasons why I still play it for the last 3 years:
THERE IS SO MUCH CONTENT
You'll never get bored playing Ragnarok because you have a lot of things to do HAHA! Whenever I invite other players, they usually get overwhelmed because of the many things to do. But I would suggest they take one step at a time and just enjoy the game. There are multiple types of quests such as Story Quests (I love their stories), Daily Quests, Weekly Dungeons, Event Quests, and many more! There is also a special types of quests that would reward you with rare items.
Aside from the quests, you can meet friends, play with other players, and fight with other players. You may also hunt down monsters so you can save and build up equipment. There are others who just like do to PVP (Player vs Player), or PVE (Players vs Environment like monsters and bosses).
YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE YOUR CHARACTER
Unlike other MMORPGs, Ragnarok allows you to customize your character well. To the extent that you will be the one who will be setting the Stats manually. Stats are like Strength, Agility, Dexterity, Intelligence, Luck, and Vitality which are important to the character's abilities. It also allows you to set your equipment, skills, and costumes as well! Worry not as it may appear to be completed to set it, there are a lot of Youtube tutorials for each class you can check them out. Study study ba mura sag naay exam HAHAHA
FUN COMMUNITY
A game would not last long without a fun and friendly community. I'm not sure but most of the people I met on the game are the 20s-30s. These are the players who were die-hards on the original Ragnarok. These people are very fun to play with. They are very helpful to beginners and support them in some dungeons. Maybe it comes with Age? HAHAHA! Although my friends from my 2020 Guild already quit, my current guild/community, helped me stay on this game.
OFFLINE GRIND
Since it is an MMORPG, grinding is an essential part of playing. For non-players awareness, grinding is killing monsters to gain in-game money and items that will help your character grow. It is also a way for your character to level up. Grinding may take hours, 2-3 hours at least since the game also limits your play time per day so you don't have to play all throughout the day. Because it takes hours to finish grinding, your phone may be at stake. Imaging your phone just grinding while you are AFK for hours. HAHA! It may not last long. LOL. So Ragnarok Mobile: Eternal Love offers "Offline Grind" for a small price. When you have this, you can turn off your phone or use your phone for other functions while grinding. That's it! It's really helpful, especially for a busy people like me, who doesn't have a gadget that could last long playing. That's it! haha!
OVERALL
I think there are many more reasons why I still play Ragnarok Mobile: Eternal Love up until today. There are another spin-offs of the game's mobile version and I attempted to play it, but still, Eternal Love wins for me.
If you like this post, I can share more about it soon. But I think that's it for now today. Thank you so much!
