Unleash the Fury!
Hi guys and girls, how are you doing today?
This afternoon, I was playing some good old Splinterlands and I was having myself a blast. For anyone that is on Hive Blockchain but lives in Mars (and don't know what Splinterlands is) I'll tell you it's a game some people love, and others hate not so much 😂. Seeing all the controversy that's around the community, I suddenly found myself wandering, what features are necessary for a game for it to be considered good? Then, I had the idea to ask that to Gemini (maybe I should have asked GPT because he seems wiser 😅).
Here's the answer I got.
It needs:
Engaging Gameplay: Immerse yourself in captivating challenges and exciting adventures.
Endless Possibilities: Explore a vast world filled with surprises and endless replayability.
Stunning Visuals: Experience breathtaking graphics and immersive sound effects.
Active Community: Connect with friends and players worldwide, team up, and compete.
Constant Updates: Enjoy regular content updates and new features to keep the fun going.
Optimal Performance: Enjoy smooth gameplay and seamless transitions.
Well, that's quite a good answer isn't it? At the same time, I guess it's not totally accurate since it does not take in consideration the full human side of gaming experience.
As a boy, I always played traditional card games with my dad and I loved that. Still do to be honest since today we both played two nice matches of Scopa di Quindici (he is 76 years old and is starting in the process of Dementia but he's surprisingly still very good at that game, wich is very simple, yet a solid entertainment.
And if you think about it, those simple games can still be perfectly transformed into entertaining video games, meaning that they don't need all the aspects described above to be good or fun.
(of course, that's my opinion, If you lived in the 90s and played games like Elifoot, you know exactly what I mean 😉).
Anyway, Splinterlands may lack Stunning Visuals or Endless Possibilities (although it has quite a few by now). But for my taste, the game now excels in Engaging Gameplay have a good flow of updates. The community is also very active, even with a downsized player base.
Therefore, I'd really love to know what do you think about that matter, and in your own opinion, what are the main features that a game must have for it to be considered good.
So, here i say farewell to you all.
Have a fantastic blessed day!
