The thing is miHoYo hasn't really done its proper PR to be taking a stand against gambling. For the general public gacha games are gambling even though there's very clear difference. On top of that Genshin is technically a f2p open world adventure RPG game with a gacha system rather than any typical gacha game where all you do is spend energy to complete missions which typically require limited characters or at least incentivize you to get them to make completing the missions easier.
However the messaging isn't wrong so as long as we can just look at Genshin as it really is and not by its unfortunate reputation then we can appreciate what Kinich has to say. At the same time the mini-game for this event is basically doing proper work, putting in the time and effort to get this brand new festival thing set up. Also you get to see the fruits of the Traveler's good will across the nations he's visited. Friends from all corners stopped by and were convinced to help out and make the event even better.
The only thing that was missing was a mention of the ongoing story arc that the dev team had set up since v5.0 began Natlan's Archon Quest. It was meant to span the whole world and be a major issue to be resolved in the next version by Dainsleif and the upcoming Skirk reappearance. This update just happened to have all the parts necessary to include this story too. This game has 7 regions total. We'd already gone through 3 of them and we're set to end it next update so 1 more region leaving 3. This version just happened to have a major story in 1 region, this event in another region and this event also has characters that relate to that 3rd region. It wouldn't have been too difficult to combine the stories and relate the major plot back to this ongoing story arc.
Anyway next up for me is tomorrow's release of Hugo in Zenless Zone Zero. Anybody going for him?
