Over the past week I've been playing Atomfall whenever I get the chance — which isn't quite as much as I would've played a few months ago. 😅
My spare time has become precious. Eeking out however much I can after work, before bed, and over the weekend. Lucky for me I have a rostered day off in Wednesdays!
With the power of Wednesdays and Weekends combined, I gift you fabulous imagery! 😁

Atomfall.
I first wrote about this game a few days ago and shared a few screenshots.

Atomfall just so happens to have beautiful graphics and an in-game photomode, so naturally I have no choice but to spend the majority of my time taking photos instead of solving the mysteries around me. 😅

Mysteries like, just why are there three skeletons wearing jolly hats using this bathtub as a toboggan? 😆

Pretty much every area I go into is picturesque and worthy of opening up the photo mode. Even the enemies are worthy of showcasing.

Actually, the enemy in the screenshot above scared the hell out of me at one point. But I thought it looked cool xD an evil thrall disguised as a scientist.
I thought there was just the one. I wasted all of my ammo shooting it to no avail, then wailed on it with a machete and kicking it away from me and hitting it some more, then finally it died... then five more converged upon me from around the corner. I may or may not have shrieked.

I'm not entirely sure what's happening in the game yet, though I feel I'm approaching the end of the story. All roads lead to 'Oberon' and that's basically my next destination once I exhaust any and all side quests.

So far from what I've gleaned — I'm playing blind — this game seems to have several different endings.
This is just what I've gathered so far: you can choose to help a suspicious voice that keeps calling you from a phone box, a suspicious military man, a suspicious scientist, a suspicious army lady, a different suspicious scientist, or a suspicious lady completely under the spell of whatever 'Oberon' is.

Yes. They're all suspicious. In this game, it is difficult to work out who you can trust or what will result from your actions.
Basically everyone wants you to destroy Oberon, one of the scientists wants you to poison it, and then there's the one lady who wants you to feed Oberon and make it more powerful.

I've kind of pottered around helping all of them, wanting to be a people-pleaser... but I'm going to have to choose soon enough.
And honestly, I think I'm going to help the crazy lady who wants to feed the thing. 🤣

I'm hoping to finish the game tomorrow night. Then I guess we'll see which direction I go and what hell I unleash upon the quarantine zone, muahaha!

And then I can spend all this upcoming weekend with the PoE2 update! 😁
Honestly though, I'm really enjoying Atomfall. A few people have complained about a couple of nitpicky things like enemies being too strong, or stealth not being overly effective, but I find it really immersive. It's combat based in realism, stealth based in realism, and I'm having a great time!

It's been a long time since I've really gotten into a character, felt trepidation at my surroundings, worried about my next move or if I have enough ammo, if the people ahead of me are friend or foe... if there's a monster hiding in that dark tunnel (yes, there is.)
It is a short game though. I'm nearing 25 hours, but that's because half my playtime is in the camera. If I was just playing the game, it'd probably be a 15 hour game, max.

If you want an immersive stealth-based game where you are a normal non-super-human person fighting to survive, I heartily recommend Atomfall.
Although, honestly, it is a little bit pricey for the hours played. If you have GamePass, it's definitely worth a play!! If not... I'm not quite sure I agree with the $80 AUD price-tag and would instead wait for it to hit $50ish maximum in a sale.
Until next time!! ☢️⚔️
