About a week ago I tried out Destiny 2 for the first time and, to my surprise, actually liked it!
The game is free to try but then to actually play properly you need to buy at least one expansion of the three currently active. The most current expansion is The Witch Queen, and is the whole reason my partner wanted to play in the first place, so after determining that I would indeed enjoy the game we both purchased the expansion and have been dabbling in that.

It's a very pretty game. I would love to take nicer screenshots of it! Unfortunately it takes great effort to remove the HUD and reactivate it, and even then I can't lower my weapon so it has to be in all of my shots.
So I gave up trying to take epic screenshots.

When you dismount, you leave your vehicle on the ground as you run off and can summon a new one whenever. Whoever left this lying on the ground has the best vehicle I've seen in-game yet!
It's a shiny cat on a broomstick and I want it.

I'm really finding the gameplay fun. I like that there are public events constantly for everyone in the open world to join in on, that there are treasure chests hidden everywhere, and I like the "strike" dungeon things. I have no idea what I'm doing in the dungeons and feel a bit noobish, but it's fun. Also the open world "lost sectors" are cool, which are basically open world dungeons that anyone can wander in to.
Apparently you can do them in solo-mode too which will reward you with special items due to difficulty.

There are also a lot of novelty and cosmetic items, which I really like. But a lot of the best ones are behind a paywall, which I don't like. π There are also quests and things that are only available if you buy the season pass -- now, I understand getting extra rewards per ranking of a season with a season pass; I don't understand quests and things being locked behind one.
There are also a few things I haven't quite gotten the grasp of yet, mostly being able to navigate quests and who to speak with to pick up bounties. I feel like I need some time playing this alone in order to grasp everything properly instead of just following along and rushing through the story.

Speaking of story -- I really have no idea what the hell is going on. My partner and I watched like an hour of story recap videos on youtube to get me up to speed, and I still have no clue.
So, honestly, I'm not really paying attention and am just shooting things and enjoying the gameplay instead. I do like that my character has a voice in cutscenes though! Even if I have no idea what she's going on about.

Because I'm set in my ways of finding a weapon that I like and just using those few weapons, I haven't been "learning" recipes for The Relic which is part of this expansion's content.
Now I find myself with a quest to create certain weapons, and I can't because I don't know their recipes, because when I got rewarded with the weapons to attune to them and learn them I decided to dismantle them instead because I have no interest in machine guns or rocket launchers or whatever. I like my hand cannon, rifle, and sword.
But now I have to find the silly things again and use them even though I don't want to, just to complete a few quests. Ugh. But it's worth it. Once I complete the first of this quest, I unlock the ability to craft an exotic for my Hunter. That'll be nice.

Last night we defeated the so-called Witch Queen, which was a surprise since I figured she would be a raid boss or something. But there is still more story to go through, so maybe there is another secret witch queen lurking in the shadows or something.
When we finish the story, we're going to go back through it in Legendary Mode which is apparently super duper hardmode and get special rewards. Woo! The game is pretty much a cakewalk though, so I'm left wondering how hard "hardmode" actually is. xD

Overall though, I'm enjoying the game.
I'm not sure if it's worth $60 for one expansion but I suppose that's a standard price these days for expansions. Pretty much every MMO expansion is $60 or so. It's the price of a full brand new game, a rip off, but it is what it is.
I've been enjoying several hours in it so far and probably several more to come, so technically $60 is a fair price. π I just really dislike spending money right now and I was hoping there would be a lot more 'free to play' content. Ugh.

Until next time! ππ«π
