Just when I was starting to get bored with Destiny 2, they fling an event upon me that actually sounds interesting. And what a time to fling it, too! The whole family is stuck at home with Covid. My son brought it home from school and now we're in isolation for the week. The perfect time to get stuck into some game and smash out a lot of points in some sort of videogame Olympics.
The perfect time too, because I'm in that listless gamer mode at the moment too as I'm waiting in limbo for the next Path of Exile league to be released. Now I have something to actively enjoy whilst sitting around.
The Guardian Games!
Apparently this is a yearly event where all three classes try to score enough points and hope that their team wins. We get points by doing activities! And there is a very spiffy weapon up for grabs, for people to win, that would really help my build.
The Title, which is a void SMG that grants you class ability energy from killing blows.
At the moment my SMG of choice is the Huckleberry which automatically reloads when I get killing blows, which is so spiffy, never having to actually wait for the reload animation. But The Title sounds like it could be a cool replacement.
The Guardian Games event goes on for three weeks, coinciding with the end of the season. I won't be participating for that long but I really hope I'm able to win a GOOD version of this weapon before I ditch this game in favour of Path of Exile!
Unfortunately the weapon goes in my secondary slot where I have other main weapons I prefer to use. I like my SMG to go in the primary slot. That really annoys me how I can't just put weapons wherever the heck I like.
The event is basically doing bounties, doing the playlists given, collecting a currency as you kill things, getting enough stuff to get bronze/silver/gold/platinum medallions, and depositing the medallions into the podium for rewards.
One of the given playlists has a very common chance for getting exotics, which is pretty spiffy. I already have the exotics that I actually want to use, but it'd be nice to get a good archive of the things.
The currency that drops, drops in the colour of the class that kills the enemies. In my case, it's blue! My partner, who is a Warlock, drops yellow, and the Titan class releases red coloured currency.
So far it seems that there are far more Hunters and Warlocks around because I've only seen red currency once today.
Anyway, it seems like a pretty spiffy little event, and it's giving me something to do for the week. I'm planning on doing a whole lotttttt of the harder playlist and hoping I get a heap of new exotics to add to my collection.
And it would be cool to get a The Title with decent traits on it.
Maybe I'll be lucky and finally get some gear upgrades too. I've been level 1570 for what feels likes weeks now. 😫 My partner hit 1575 today, which is the minimum necessary to get into the hardest difficulty things, and I'm still unlucky and lagging behind.
