In my last Skyrim post, Iselia had just found the secret alcoholic stash of a woman's drunken husband and was heading back into town to deliver the goods to the angry wife... when a door caught her eye.
It looked like the door to a tomb, and everyone knew that tombs were full of treasures and goods!
She was going to go into the tomb and see what she could find; it shouldn't take too long.
She had never been inside a tomb before. It was surprisingly well-lit with torches and fire-pits dotted around the place. It was also eerily silent. But, she supposed, that was to be expected in the bedrooms of the dead.
There were urns and pots all over the place, each one filled to the brim with gold and jewels and jewelry!
Yes, she had definitely made the right decision in ducking through that doorway before going back to the angry wife. She shoved the lot into her pockets. All of it. Some of the rings and necklaces were enchanted, too! She equipped a couple that seemed like they'd be useful.
Happily hopping from one urn to the next, looting all of their contents and stuffing them into her pockets, she was shocked when suddenly a door slammed shut behind her, locked.
Then, a chill swept across her neck as the dead groaned and coffin doors slammed opened.
Perhaps she had been a little too greedy.
She fought threw the hordes! Running away as needed to heal up with her magic. Of course she hadn't enough potions to help out. She really needed to improve her alchemy.
Slowly she kited the dead one by one into a corridor and killed them. One of them had a bow, all of them had arrows, and she swiftly learnt how to use the thing so she could perform distant sneak attacks and fight things a little easier and safer.
By some miracle she managed to get through the entire tomb-full of undead in one piece, and for her efforts she was rewarded with a pretty spiffy sword! It absorbed health from her enemies! That would definitely be a useful weapon to wield.
She was exhausted though. Oh so tired. And she no longer had her tent-pack!!! She must've left it out in the wilds somewhere. She would need to buy another one.
For now though, she dragged herself out of the tomb, into the wilds, and back into the village of Dragon Bridge. The tavern was a most welcoming sight.
The next day, well-rested and well-fed, Iselia visited the local merchant to see how much gold she could get for all the stuff she had found.
Turned out it was lots! And the merchant didn't have enough gold to buy it all from her. Whilst she got rid of a fair chunk of it and earned herself a cool 12,000 gold... she would have to sell the rest at other merchants on her travels.
With that out of the way, Iselia gave the angry wife her husband's booze and was rewarded with 400 gold to add to her growing purse, then set off towards the Secret Hideout further to the west.
On the way she bested wolves, sabrecats, more wolves, and yet more wolves! The beasts were everywhere.
There was also a den of wolves with unfortunate bodies mauled to shreds all about. One of the bodies had a very valuable diamond sitting next to it!
Yet another amazing jewel to add to her trusty satchel for vendoring and earning gold.
This trek really was paying out!
She was getting nearer and nearer to her destination - The Secret Hideout where yet another group of bandits had taken refuge. The bounty on their heads was minuscule compared to all the loot she was finding, but that didn't matter. She had taken the bounty and she was going to claim it!
A frost troll stood in her way.
It didn't stand for much longer. Taking the beast down, she took a nap in a conveniently placed tent and prepared herself for the bandits to come.
After taking down cultists who were much more powerful than she... after taking down droves of undead!!! and living to tell the tale... these bandits were nothing.
Iselia blasted them with her fire magic, bonked them on the head with her mace, switched out to her health-draining sword and stole the last of their life-force for her own.
For the first time since washing up in Skryim's ice-cold oceans, she had succeeded at her quest with no issues, no fatigue, and still had a bunch of food and potions in her satchel.
Maybe she truly was becoming a survivor of these frigid wastes!
