The pufferfish are evil, explodey little things that refuse to let me gather their explosive goo from their corpses. They'd rather explode in a shower of green and poison me than to allow me the use of their precious materials.
I have travelled from island to island, gathering all the materials I can along the way. My storage boxes are overflowing! Which is great, for I now have a recycling machine to use up all those excessive items. But the explosive goo. I just can't obtain it. I anchor my raft at one island, go swimming, see the pufferfish, attempt to kill them, only to have them commit suicide in a rain of poison, so I travel onwards to another island and try again. It's impossible.
But at least I have my brand new recycling machine. This thing gobbles up my excess resources and delivers unto me trash cubes!
With these trash cubes I can at last use the trading posts that are on the large islands!
Hooray!
Now I can start buying the fishing bait, which enables me to catch a special type of fish that I can sell for a different currency and for reputation in order to advance the shopping tiers offered.
And so, I bought a bunch of bait and prepared to go fishing.
I'm going to need a lot more bait in order to get my reputation up to Tier 2, but, of course, the trading post "sold out" of it so I was going to have to find another large island if I wanted to continue my rep-grind.
I did sell enough for a good amount of currency though. Enough currency that I was able to buy all four of the Tier 1 blue recipes and 2 special ingredients.
And with my new acquisitions I made this delicious salmon feast!
Eating this will allow my lungs to enlargen apparently, haha. So I'll save that for the next large island I go to in search of the elusive pufferfish.
Just why do I need this explosive goo?
Well, in order to create nets that shoot out of a net-gun, I need to craft Explosive Powder. I can't get Explosive Powder until I smelt the Explosive Goo.
And just why do I need these shooty nets?
Well, I need to capture some fine beasts to settle upon my raft and give me wool and eggs! In order to capture these fine beasts, I need a shooty net.
So once more, I finally arrived at yet another large island. Only this time, instead of a spear, I had a bow. Because apparently I can shoot arrows underwater... ... ... anyway! So I dove into the depths with my bow and arrow, and tried, yet again, to capture some fine explosive goo from these evil little creatures.
This time, I succeeded.
Note to anyone struggling to kill these little bastards: use your bow and arrows!
Swimming around and 'round the island, utilising my fancy salmon feast, I killed three of the venomous blighters and scored five goo from them! Now it was time to smelt it all and make some nets to capture some beasties.
And it's a good thing I crafted several shooty nets, because it took them all to capture my first animal.
I got myself a goat! Woo! Unfortunately I want a llama more than a goat, but beggars can't be choosers. I got my first very beastie and I named him, "Bob".
I scoured the island and only found another goat, so I guessed I would have to go visit yet another large island and hope that what I wanted spawned. And, of course, utilise my new skill in killing pufferfish!
Well, I didn't find a llama on the next island, but I did find a chicken. And carrying the chicken is officially the funniest thing I've seen in a while. xD It amused me so much I had to make a gif out of it. I had no choice. Bask in the glory of the chicken. Her name is Betty.
I travelled from island to island, in search of the elusive llamas. And didn't find a one. Which I thought was just typical considering I was finding llamas all over the place previously. Now that I actually had the ability to catch them, they didn't want to be found. Naturally.
Soon, my radar picked up the next story quest island and I paddled my boat onwards. The llamas would have to wait.
