"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" would make its appearance for the PlayStation 1 console on November 15, 2001. This old school title was released and developed by the renowned video game company "Electroic Arts".

It is important to mention that Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone had so much expectation at the time, that it surpassed in sales the well-known "Resident Evil 2" and "Metal Gear Solid". Its popularity was so great that made it one of the most sought after games at the time.
Es importante Mencionar que Harry Potter y la Piedra Filosofal tuvo tanta expectativa en su momento, que superaron en ventas a los reconocidos “Resident Evil 2” y “Metal Gear Solid”. Su popularidad fue tan grande que lo hizo uno de los juegos más buscados en aquel entonces.
The adventure of this good title starts with a brief story which tells us a little about Harry Potter's arrival at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
La aventura de este buen título empieza con un breve relato el cual nos cuenta un poco sobre la llegada de Harry Potter al colegio Hogwarts de Magia y Hechicería.
At the beginning we can easily notice that the game is an adventure mode but with several elements of the platform genre, that is, you will be able to solve puzzles, go through corridors and outside areas of Hogwarts school.
Al principio podemos notar con facilidad que el juego es un modo Aventura pero con varios elementos del género de plataforma, es decir, que se podrá resolver acertijos, recorrer pasillos y zonas exteriores del colegio de Hogwarts.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone has a fairly simple gameplay with easy to execute mechanics, although it is important to say that there is one aspect in which it fails, it is that the focus is more on platforming than action. This makes the jumping mode not so well polished, most of the time you can feel that the jumps are quite unstable and inaccurate.
Harry Potter y la Piedra Filosofal tiene una jugabilidad bastante sencilla con mecánicas fácil de ejecutar, aunque es importante decir que hay un aspecto en el cual falla, esté se trata que el enfoque se decanta más al plataformeo que a la acción. Esto hace que la modalidad de salto no esté tan bien pulida, la mayor parte del tiempo se puede sentir que los saltos son bastante inestables e imprecisos.
On the other hand, Harry's arsenal of spells is quite limited, each of these spells can be learned as you progress through the adventure. Although there will be several spells that Harry will use throughout the game, it will be the Flipendo spell that he will use most of the time, that is to say, this spell will be his natural weapon, so to speak. With respect to the other spells I can say that this is another of the great flaws that can be seen in the game, many of these spells will only appear on specific occasions of the adventure.
Por otra parte el arsenal de hechizos que posee Harry es bastante limitado, cada uno de estos hechizos los podrá ir aprendiendo a medida que se vaya avanzando en la aventura. A pesar de que serán varios hechizos los que utilizara Harry a lo largo del juego, será el hechizo Flipendo el que use la mayor parte del tiempo, es decir, que será este hechizo su arma natural por decirlo de algún modo. Con respecto a los demás hechizos puedo decir que es otra de las grandes fallas que se pueden ver en el juego, muchos de estos hechizos solo aparecerán en ocasiones específicas de la aventura.
Now talking a little about the visual and graphical aspect, I can say that it is one of the poorest sections of the game. The scenarios are very uninspired and lack creativity, for its part Harry Potter has a high absence of personality, it is practically mute in almost all the game, we can also notice that their interaction with other characters is completely null.
Ahora hablando un poco sobre el aspecto visual y gráfico, puedo decir que es uno de los apartados más pobres del juego. Los escenarios son muy poco inspirados y carecen de creatividad, por su parte Harry Potter tiene una alta ausencia de personalidad, esté es prácticamente mudo en casi todo el juego, también podemos notar que su interacción con los demás personajes es completamente nula.
The graphics are pretty bad for the time of its release, the textures of the game look quite rough and poor, parts of the forest and dungeons can be said to look somewhat decent but the model of the characters is quite deplorable. Personally I think a better job could have been done in this section.
Los gráficos son bastante malos para la época de su lanzamiento, las texturas del juego se ven bastante accidentadas y pobres, partes del bosque y las mazmorras se puede decir que se ven algo decente pero el modelo de los personajes es bastante deplorable. De manera personal pienso que se pudo haber hecho un mejor trabajo en este apartado.
As for the sound section, I can say that it is the most remarkable thing about this game, the sound effects are well defined, this can be easily perceived when Harry is moving through the corridors and when we activate the ability of some elements of the game, in this case, when we open a door, discover a passage or the sound of some of the enemies. The soundtrack has quite subtle melodies that can sometimes go unnoticed and this in turn helps to make the atmosphere quite fascinating in some cases.
En cuanto al apartado de sonido, puedo decir que es lo más rescatable de esté juego, los efectos de sonido están bien definidos, esto lo podemos percibir fácilmente cuando Harry se encuentra desplazándose por los pasillos y cuando accionamos la habilidad de algunos elementos del juego, en este caso, cuando abrimos una puerta, descubrimos un pasadizo o el sonido de alguno de los enemigos. La banda sonora posee melodías bastante sutiles que en ocasiones pueden pasar desapercibidas y esto a su vez ayuda a que la atmosfera sea bastante fascinante en algunos casos.
Now talking a little about its difficulty, it can be said that this was made for a fairly young audience as the game is quite easy, the riddles that can be obtained throughout the adventure are simple to decipher, we can also get many chocolate frogs in different areas, these frogs can be said to be a kind of life restorers. To save the progress of the game will not be a problem, we will also have many books throughout the adventure in which we can go saving the progress without any problem.
Ahora hablando un poco sobre su dificultad, se puede decir que esta fue hecha para un público bastante joven ya que el juego es bastante fácil, los acertijos que se pueden conseguir a lo largo de la aventura son sencillos de descifrar, también podremos conseguir muchas ranas de chocolates en las distintas zonas, estas ranas se puede decir que son una especie de restauradores de vida. Para guardar el progreso de la partida no será un problema, también dispondremos de muchos libros a lo largo de la aventura en los cuales podremos ir guardando el progreso sin ningún problema.
And to conclude... I can say that Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone does not end up being a good game for its time and with the passage of time has not aged well at all, in general it has many flaws which I have already mentioned in this analysis, but despite that you can not take away the merits of having been able to capture what is understood as the essence of Harry Potter.

Y para concluir… Puedo decir que Harry Potter y la Piedra Filosofal no termina siendo un buen juego para su época y con el pasar del tiempo tampoco ha envejecido para nada bien, en líneas generales presenta muchos fallos los cuales ya he mencionado en este análisis, pero a pesar de eso no se le puede quitar méritos de haber podido capturar en lo que se entiende como la esencia de Harry Potter.
