Hey #HiveGaming folks! We're back in full force, and this time with the mythological bombshell that is Hades II.
Today I'm not here to talk about my runs—I'll save that for later. I want to share some of the things that really stood out to me. From the moment you start the game, you can feel you're stepping into a world where every brushstroke, every particle of magical dust, every line of dialogue is there for a reason. If the first Hades was already a gem, this second installment is straight-up a treasure chest overflowing with power and beauty.

Hoy no vengo a contarles mis runs antes quiero hablar de cosas que me han gustado, desde que arrancás el juego, se puede sentir que estás entrando en un mundo donde cada pincelada, cada partícula de polvo mágico, cada línea de diálogo está ahí por una razón. Si el primer Hades ya era una joya, esta segunda entrega directamente se convierte en un tesoro cargado de poder y belleza.
The animations are a luxury—no exaggeration. The artistic work is a hypnotic blend of darkness and brilliance, with those signature strokes from the studio now even more refined. The character design has reached a new level of expressiveness. Every god, every creature, and every background feels alive—and don’t even get me started on the visual effects during combat. Spells, attacks, abilities… it’s like watching fireworks explode in the very heart of the Underworld.
Las animaciones son un lujo, no es exageración. El trabajo artístico es una mezcla hipnótica de oscuridad y brillo, con esos trazos tan característicos del estudio, pero aún más refinados. El diseño de personajes ha alcanzado un nuevo nivel de expresión. Cada dios, cada criatura y cada fondo se siente vivo y ni hablar de los efectos visuales durante el combate hechizos, ataques, habilidades, es como ver fuegos artificiales en el mismísimo Inframundo.
But let’s talk about the juiciest part—the new gods and mechanics.
We begin by playing as Melinoë, a warrior-witch who’s every bit as formidable as her half-brother Zagreus. Her story takes a darker turn, more focused on sorcery, which is beautifully reflected in the game’s new mechanics—like the Cauldron of Formulas, where you can brew spells, upgrades, and enchantments before jumping into battle. This system adds a huge tactical layer; it’s no longer just about running and slashing, but about preparing your path like a true battle sorceress.
Pero hablemos de lo más jugoso, los nuevos dioses y mecánicas.
Empezamos encarnando a Melinoë, una bruja-guerrera que no tiene nada que envidiarle a su medio hermano Zagreo. Su historia es distinta, más sombría y centrada en la hechicería, lo cual se refleja perfectamente en las nuevas mecánicas, como el Caldero de Fórmulas, que permite preparar hechizos, mejoras y encantamientos antes de lanzarte al combate. Esta mecánica le da un giro táctico tremendo, ya no solo se trata de correr y golpear, sino de preparar tu camino como buena hechicera de guerra.
And of course, we can’t talk about witches without mentioning Hecate, Melinoë’s mentor. Her presence is imposing, mysterious, and almost maternal. She embodies the crossroads of magic, night, and the passage between worlds. As a tutor, she guides us—but she also pushes us hard, and those first battles against her are a challenge worthy of deep respect.
Y claro, no podemos hablar de brujas sin mencionar a Hécate, la maestra de Melinoë. Su presencia es imponente, misteriosa y casi maternal. Representa el cruce entre la magia, la noche y la transición entre mundos. Como tutora, nos guía, pero también nos exige, y las primeras peleas con ella son un desafío digno de respeto.
We’ve also met some new (and familiar) divine faces. Artemis returns, yes—but with sharper, more refined abilities. Her focus on critical hits now synergizes better with spells and combo attacks. Aphrodite, though already present in the previous game, brings new blessings that are more strategic than purely seductive: area control and debuffs are now key to survival.
También conocimos a nuevas y viejas caras divinas. Artemisa vuelve, sí, pero con habilidades más pulidas y precisas, su especialización en ataques críticos ahora se puede combinar mejor con hechizos y combos. Afrodita, aunque ya aparecía en el juego anterior, trae nuevas bendiciones más estratégicas que puramente sensuales, el control de área y el debilitamiento ahora son clave para sobrevivir.
And watch out for Hestia, goddess of the hearth—a brilliant and powerful addition. Her fire isn’t just warm, it’s devastating if you know how to wield it. She brings a dual edge to the gameplay: protection and offense, a flame that shields and scorches at the same time.
Y ojo con Hestia, diosa del hogar, una adición brillante y poderosa. Su fuego no es solo cálido, es devastador si lo sabés manejar. Le da un toque dual a la jugabilidad protección + ataque, fuego que cuida y que calcina.
Personally, I have a soft spot for Demeter. Her abilities tied to cold and environmental control now have incredible depth. Plus, her design in this installment is darker—almost lethal. She’s no longer just the goddess of the harvest: she’s a grieving mother who lays waste to everything in her path.
Personalmente, tengo debilidad por Deméter. Sus habilidades relacionadas con el frío y el control del entorno ahora tienen una profundidad increíble, además, su diseño en esta entrega es más sombrío, casi letal. Ya no es solo la diosa de las cosechas es una madre dolida que arrasa con todo.
And what can we say about Odysseus? A pleasant surprise. Charismatic and enigmatic, he quickly becomes a character of interest within the base camp—which, by the way, is packed with secrets, endearing NPCs, and an atmosphere that makes you want to explore for hours. The base isn't just a hub; it’s a world of its own, and it promises to grow even more.
¿Y qué decir de Odiseo? Una grata sorpresa. Carismático, enigmático, se convierte rápidamente en un personaje de interés dentro del campamento base, el cual, por cierto, está lleno de secretos, NPCs entrañables, y una ambientación que dan ganas de explorar por horas. La base no es un simple hub, es un mundo en sí mismo, y promete expandirse aún más.
I already knew this game would hook me for hours, but it has truly captivated me. Every run leaves me with that craving to come back, explore, understand, fight, and, of course, die—haha—but die with style.
Ya sabia que este juego me engancharia por horas , pero me ha enamorado y cada run que hago me deja con esa necesidad de volver, descubrir, entender, pelear y morir claro jj pero morir con estilo.
