Hi Hive friends, it's really been about three months, I think. I haven't been feeling too lively lately and college doesn't help much, but hey, here I am making another attempt to get back to writing about my gaming experiences. Today I'll talk about Return of the Obra Dinn.
The game starts with a black screen that shows two papers where it mentions that a ship with 51 people disappeared and never came back. Then, it shows us another paper indicating that the ship has returned and we must make an inspection. Afterwards, the screen goes black again and shows us a conversation between two people, who talk about taking the character we will handle to the ship called The Obra Dinn.

At this point, we are already shown one of the characters in the conversation, who takes us to the ship. Then, we go up the stairs of the ship to board it and we tell him to help us with our luggage, which would be a suitcase. Here we must wait for the other character to talk to us to start the game where he tells us that he can not climb the suitcase and that we better climb it ourselves. In this object that we climb there are certain important artifacts that we will use during the game as a watch with a skull and a diary. With these artifacts in hand, we explore the ship further and see how the said watch appears every time we approach a body lying on the ship.

Pressing a key when the clock appears, transports us to the past, showing us a black screen with a conversation of an event that has occurred. At the end of this, it shows us the person and how they died, without any cinematics, but rather as if all the people were paralyzed just at that moment. Then, we find a door that we use to return to the present. In most cases, we not only see the person in the body that made the clock appear, but we will also find other bodies in the past, which will then appear in the present so we can see how they died.

When we get to the present, we have a diary that is divided into several chapters. A feature of this game is that the events are not shown in order, but rather we gradually advance and find out the order of the various events that have transpired on this mysterious ship. We write down how each character we find died, the weapon or who killed him to discover little by little the 51 crew members. We will also have to find out whose body it is, since they do not tell us, but we will do it by discarding or by simple logic. In the diary we find photos of the crew members without the names placed, in addition to knowing the name, we will also have to recognize each one by this photo and mark it.

Something I really liked about this game, despite its particular design, is the soundtrack, as it gives a mysterious touch to the game. I should mention that I also found it a bit repetitive, since everything is based on finding a body, going back in time, noting how it died and then going out the door. Most of the time another body is found and we have to repeat the process. Although it feels tiring to repeat it several times, when you manage to decipher some of the characters you feel a great satisfaction. The game goes slowly without many action parts, but if you like mystery games and see how the puzzle of this adventure is put together, I recommend it.

Hola amigos de Hive, realmente han pasado unos tres meses, creo. No me he sentido muy animado últimamente y la universidad no ayuda mucho, pero bueno, aquí estoy haciendo otro intento por volver a escribir sobre mis experiencias con los juegos. Hoy hablaré sobre Return of the Obra Dinn.
El juego comienza con una pantalla en negro que muestra dos papeles donde se menciona que un barco con 51 personas desapareció y nunca regresó. Luego, nos muestra otro papel que indica que el barco ha regresado y debemos hacer una inspección. Después, la pantalla vuelve a ponerse en negro y nos muestra una conversación entre dos personas, que hablan sobre llevar al personaje que manejaremos al barco llamado The Obra Dinn.

En este punto, ya nos muestra a uno de los personajes de la conversación, quien nos lleva al barco. Luego, subimos las escaleras del barco para abordarlo ademas de decirle que nos ayude con nuestro equipaje el cual seria una maleta. Aquí debemos esperar a que el otro personaje nos hable para comenzar el juego donde nos dice que no puede subir la maleta y que mejor la subamos nosotros. En dicho objeto que subimos hay ciertos artefactos importantes que usaremos durante el juego como un reloj con una calavera y un diario. Con estos artefactos en mano, exploramos más el barco y vemos cómo dicho reloj aparece cada vez que nos acercamos a un cuerpo que yace tirado en el barco.

Al presionar una tecla al aparecer el reloj, nos transporta al pasado, mostrándonos una pantalla negra con una conversación de un evento que ha ocurrido. Al terminar esta, nos muestra a la persona y cómo murió, sin ninguna cinemática, sino más bien como si todas las personas estuvieran paralizadas justo en ese momento. Luego, encontramos una puerta que usamos para volver al presente. En la mayoría de los casos, no solo vemos a la persona del cuerpo que hizo aparecer el reloj, sino que también encontraremos otros cuerpos en el pasado, los cuales luego aparecerán en el presente para poder ver cómo murieron.

Al llegar al presente, tenemos un diario que se divide en varios capítulos. Una característica de este juego es que no se muestran los acontecimientos en orden, sino que poco a poco vamos avanzando y averiguando el orden de los distintos eventos que han transcurrido en este misterioso barco. Anotamos cómo murió cada personaje que encontramos, el arma o quién lo mató para descubrir poco a poco a los 51 tripulantes. También deberemos averiguar de quién es el cuerpo, ya que no nos lo dicen, sino que lo haremos por descarte o por simple lógica. En el diario encontramos fotos de los tripulantes sin los nombres colocados, además de saber el nombre, también deberemos reconocer a cada uno por esta foto y marcarla.

Algo que me gustó mucho de este juego, a pesar de su diseño particular, es el soundtrack, ya que le da un toque misterioso al juego. Debo mencionar que también me pareció algo repetitivo, ya que todo se basa en encontrar un cuerpo, ir al pasado, anotar cómo murió y luego salir por la puerta. La mayoría de las veces se encuentra otro cuerpo y debemos repetir el proceso. Aunque se siente cansado al repetirlo varias veces, cuando logras descifrar algunos de los personajes se siente una gran satisfacción. El juego va poco a poco sin muchas partes de acción, pero si te gustan los juegos de misterio y ver cómo se va armando el rompecabezas de esta aventura, lo recomiendo.
