Hello, everyone. If you've seen my content about gaming, you'll know that most of it is emulation games. This is mainly because I don't have the means to afford a better option, but I also really (really) enjoy retro gaming.
In a YouTube video, I found out about an app called Daijisho, which is a front-end specialized in retro gaming for Android. It organizes roms, scrapes information from the internet, and looks great.
I downloaded it, but the emulators it connects to don't include Lemuroid, which is the one I use for old consoles before the PSX era. This was a disappointment. So, I decided to download individual emulators, and in the process, I found this emulator for Game Boy and Game Boy Color.
The most popular option for emulating these systems is Pizza Boy, which is great. But this emulator has all the features for free and looks good too. And it's available in windows, Macos and Linux.
GBCC emulator
The emulator is clean and minimalistic. When you start the app, you're greeted with a suggestion to run the tutorial ROM, which serves as a test and a guide on how to use the options it offers.

Then, you're left with an empty folder where the games will be displayed. To add them, you use the top ➕️ icon. This will open the internal file manager, and when you tap on a GBC or GB ROM, whether it's zipped or not, the app will recognize it and add it to the main view with an icon corresponding to the type, GB or GBC.

When you play a ROM, the display changes to one that mimics a Game Boy, (Color or DMG), with the small GB screen at the top. If you touch the virtual GB screen, you'll open the options, pausing the game.

It provides good shaders and options that try to emulate the appearance of a real Game Boy handheld. I like it because it looks simple, minimalistic, and clean. I didn't test the compatibility completely, but the few games I tested ran well.

It can restore your game state every time you come back. If you tap back the emulator automatically saves your state. Also, it has a turbo mode you can activate with a simple switch in the in-game UI.

In summary, GBCC is a good option for emulating Game Boy and Game Boy Color games on Android, with a simple UI and good shaders that reproduce the appearance of one of those iconic Nintendo handhelds.
