FALLOUT 3

Written thanks to my experience and the videogames industry.

It's strange when somebody says " Yeah,Retro-Gaming!" Many of you automatically
think about Snes,Nes,Atari and so far. Maybe because of those seductive pixels...ejem.

When you're a child every visual effect, explosion or sound is the best thing you'll experience.
Your innocence takes control of you and even smile like if you were seeing Santa Claus kissing your forehead.

Those sensations are stongly connected with your past. It's something that when you are older is unfrequent to happen again.

Fallout gave me something more.

I remember that I bought that game without even knowing well what it was about.
I heard it was a good third person shooter, but I was having a good time with Red Faction Guerrilla (if you know what I mean...yeah baby explosions!) But I wanted to try something new.

Don't you love that nonsense destruction?

At those times my favorite moment on videogames was me playing Baseball Stars on Nes for hours, oh god...something on my eye.

How many hours did I spent on this?

When I arrived home I tested it and the result was dissapointing. Those animations were like:
Really? is this a great game?. And that tutorial was weird; being a baby was not my idea of a 3rd person shooter. But something told me that I should continue or maybe it was Liam Neeson's voice who caught my attention.

And I did it. Few hours later( and few destroyed buildings too) I met a guy who threatened me on the vault. I wanted to broke something on him but he had some followers so there was no other option than retreat. Then my father left home, god knows why, and everybody hated me because of that.

That was a happy day.

And then (Karma again)the vault was invaded by something like big mom cockroach and family. I found a guard who tried to stop me; at that moment, I was pretty sad because of dad and drained my depression on that poor man leaving him "unconscious".

Till that moment I was like:"Hey, something crappy is happening and i gotta get out of...WTF, I can take everything from this guy!!!. And from everyone OMG!! Ok, calm down and breath, lets get of this madness!"

I found the boy who was bothering me and asked me for help and you know what...I didn' want to
get involved in problems so I left him screaming alone...I wonder how is his life now!

I hope he is not one of them.

So I runned away from that oppressive place and found an automatic iron gate and i dealt to open it. I walked some more through a cave, and I got to a door were the game asked me if I was sure to leave that safe place. F@#k yeah! Maybe outside I'll find a good girl or buy such a fine weapon...

But when I could open my eyes completely because of the sun, I saw the best image that I can remember:

America was a dessert now. Sand and rocks. Destroyed houses and garbage everywhere! A huge map to go wherever I wanted...that was a dream! Mad max returned!

I stopped playing for a while, almost dropping the controller (and some drops of saliva) I was only
watching the screen. Enjoying that paradise I asked myself: and I must survive on a place like this? with those mutants? Let's do it man!!!!

And I couldn't stop from playing, trying to find the most caps possible, stealing friends, and killing everything that could move a feet and breath...I.even saw a nuke!!

And that was an important moral event, when a crazy but wealthy man asked me to blow that bomb in the middle of the city. The first city I visited. Where I met friends and paid for love. Where I drunk radioactive beer and...boooooooooooooooooommmmm shakalakaaaaaaa!!!!!

And mom told me to stay away from psycho wealthy strangers.

I even felt some smoke getting out from the TV. The old man was excited and I received a good payment...but I trust karma: I killed his right hand and left the building crowded by mutants. Hehe.

How can I forget that time when I visited and cleaned(after several times) that market dominated by raiders? Or when I found the fire sword? Or the baby nuclear bomb?
The sniper rifle to dissapear any danger from that farm or that super huge mutant on the city?

My admission on the steel brotherhood or the final battle alongside the giant robot and my mutant bro. Saddly a member of the team had to die.

They take care of me better than home!

And to save the world, I took the decision to sacrifice myself. I though that he was sleeping on the floor. My mom said: don't you see? He is more dead than your grandfather!
I couldn't believe it, my travel has ended like that. The adventures ended forever.
And I knew deep inside of me that this memories wouldn't be easily forgotten.

And I cried.

If you haven't played it, take your money and buy it right now!!! Action, strategy, gore, a lot of missions,
Enemies everywhere, secrets, horror, humor and a soundtrack older than you but fits with the moment perfectly.
I promised me to stay strong writing these lines...but I'm gonna drop one more tear and that's it.
