This post is to participate in the great theme of Ready Player Hive. The previous topics have been awesome, but I admit I haven’t been able to come up with something interesting. My ideas tend to be a bit crazy, and sometimes thinking of something too specific can result in CHAOS, which I prefer to avoid.
Today’s topic is: “What’s your favorite and most hated role in an RPG?”
It’s hard to just say: “My favorite role is…” since roles often vary a lot depending on the game. For example, in Albion Online I prefer to be a Healer or Support. I feel like my team survives much better thanks to my healing, and honestly, I think I do it better than most healers. However, I also love playing as damage (DPS). Sometimes when I’m healing, I notice the team’s damage isn’t enough and I think I could contribute more in that role.
Then there are games like WoW, where I prefer to completely ignore the support or healer role and focus on DPS. I was never that good at WoW, but focusing on dealing damage feels much more fun than healing. I tried the classic priest, and also in the Dragonflight expansion with the Evoker, that dragon race with Preservation. I liked it, since I could heal and deal damage at the same time, but it never really grew on me.
So in conclusion, I love being DPS. I also really enjoy being Support, at least when I have a premade group and I know they’ll deal good damage. In League of Legends I also prefer supporting with damage, though I don’t mind being support at all (even if LoL doesn’t count as an MMORPG, I had to mention it).
Honestly, I wouldn’t say I hate any role in RPGs, but there are situations that make me hate any role. For example: if I go as healer and the DPS doesn’t deal enough damage, it slows down everything, whether it’s PvE or PvP. Same thing if I go as DPS and our healer isn’t good enough to keep us alive… those are situations I would totally hate. They bother me a bit, they shouldn’t, but I’m a little competitive with those things and I always prefer not to die.
Going as a tank or buffer wouldn’t bother me at all if I’m truly helping the team. Just feeling like I’m contributing is enough for me, of course, as long as the rest of the team is also doing their job properly.
I think I would also hate having the “leader” role. When I play I prefer to stay quiet and focus on my task. Calls aren’t really my thing. I can take on that role temporarily, but there comes a point where it gets tiring and unnatural, until I stop saying anything and my team starts getting lost in fights.
Beyond all that, I’m really happy to enjoy every role in MMORPGs. As long as I’m participating, I know I’ll feel good and truly have fun. That’s the nice thing about being Support sometimes: everyone needs a Healer, but a Healer also needs good damage by their side. Nothing more to say, see you in the next one, my boomers.

Este post es para participar en la gran temática del Ready Player Hive. Los temas anteriores han estado geniales, pero admito que no he podido pensar en algo interesante. Mis ideas suelen ser algo locas y a veces pensar en algo muy específico puede resultar en CAOS, cosa que prefiero evitar.
Hoy el tema es: “¿Cuál es tu rol favorito y tu rol más odiado en un RPG?”
Es complicado decir: “Mi rol favorito es…”, ya que muchas veces los roles varían bastante dependiendo del juego. Por ejemplo, en Albion Online prefiero ser Healer o Support. Siento que mi equipo aguanta mucho más gracias a mis curas y honestamente creo que lo hago mejor que la mayoría de los healers. Sin embargo, también me encanta jugar como daño (DPS). A veces cuando estoy de healer, noto que el daño del equipo no es suficiente y pienso que yo podría aportar más en ese rol.
Luego hay juegos como WoW, en los que prefiero ignorar completamente el rol de support o healer y dedicarme al DPS. Nunca fui demasiado bueno en WoW, pero enfocarme en hacer daño me parece mucho más divertido que curar. Lo intenté con el típico sacerdote, y también en la expansión Dragonflight con el Evoker, esa raza dragón con Preservation. Me gustó, ya que podía curar y hacer daño al mismo tiempo, pero nunca terminó de encantarme.
Así que en conclusión, ser DPS me encanta. Ser Support también me gusta bastante, al menos cuando tengo un grupo premade y sé que harán un buen daño. En League of Legends también prefiero apoyar siendo daño, aunque no me molesta para nada ser support (aunque LoL no cuenta como MMORPG tenía que meterlo).
Honestamente no podría decir que odio un rol en los RPG, pero sí hay situaciones que me hacen odiar cualquier rol. Por ejemplo: si voy de healer y el DPS no aporta daño suficiente, ralentiza todo el progreso, ya sea en PvE o PvP. Igual que si voy de DPS y nuestro healer no es lo suficientemente bueno para mantenernos con vida… esas son situaciones que sí odiaría totalmente. Son situaciones que me molestan un poco, no deberían molestarme tanto, pero soy un poquito competitivo con esas cosas y siempre prefiero no morir.
Ir como tanque o buffer no me molestaría en absoluto si realmente estoy aportando al equipo. El simple hecho de sentir que ayudo ya es suficiente para mí, claro, siempre y cuando el resto del equipo también haga bien su trabajo.
Creo que también odiaría tener el rol de “líder”. Cuando juego prefiero estar callado y concentrado en mi tarea. Las "calls" no son lo mío. Puedo tomar ese rol de forma temporal, pero llega un punto en que se me hace cansado y poco natural, hasta que termino sin decir nada y mi equipo empieza a perderse en las peleas.
Más allá de todo realmente me alegra poder disfrutar de cada rol en los mmorpg. Siempre y cuando esté participando, sé que me sentiré bien y de verdad me voy a divertir. Eso es lo bonito de ser Support a veces, todos necesitan un Healer, pero un Healer también necesita buenos daños a su lado. Sin más que decir, nos vemos en la siguiente, mis boomers.
