In this game, resources and bosses are available to all players, but they’re limited. To unlock upgrades and new recipes, you need to kill these bosses. Once you do, they respawn after some time. You can't imagine the chaos when the server first launched.

For now, the server is limited to 60 players max. So at that moment, it was 60 players fighting non-stop. I joined a bit late and had to wait in queue for a while. As soon as I got in, after my temporary protection expired, I died over 20 times that day. The worst part is that when you die, you lose everything you farmed, except for your weapons and gear (though there are full loot servers where you lose everything upon death a nightmare).

On weekends, during specific hours, players are allowed to raid or steal from other players’ castles. It creates a tense environment: either you raid, wait to be raided… or both. Both happened this past Sunday. It was unexpected, everything went out of control, but it was really exciting. Before continuing, I should give you some context.

A few months ago, we played this little vampire game for a while. We beat all the bosses and did very little PvP. Our first raid was against what seemed like an empty base. It was kind of boring since there was no action, we just looted a few things and left. That apparently upset other players, who later wiped us out. The worst part is that I was the only one around to defend our home... Well, if you can even call what I did “defending”, they destroyed me in seconds.

My friends thought no one would mess with us and were busy ranking in Valorant. So by the time I told them we were under attack, it was too late. If they closed the game, they’d be penalized, so they couldn’t join in time.

After they stole almost everything, there was another raid that made it nearly impossible for us to recover. Even though they don’t steal your weapons or gear, dying makes them lose a lot of durability, and they can break. That makes it impossible to repair them without materials, leaving you out of the fight.

We were pretty discouraged, but we didn’t want to stop playing. So we went to practice PvP on training servers. Honestly, you learn a lot and improve quickly. Personally, I was really bad (and still am in 1v1 PvP), but now I move a little better and understand the abilities more.

My friends also improved a lot. Back then, my party or clan consisted of Miguel, @therealflaws and @brataka. It was a lot of fun fighting alongside them. We were so bad that we could lose a 3v1.

Now that I’ve given all this context, let’s go back to what happened on Sunday. This time, @dog3zz and @oldfool joined us in the update, with Miguel (Laperroncha) as the group leader. He’s been one of the ones who’s improved the most in PvP. I decided to take on a “support” role, healing in battles and giving some shields while using my pistols to deal a bit of damage. Dog3zz (Flamito) was forced to play crossbow with ice skills. Nothing to say about him: an insane beast.

On Saturday, we made a mini attack on our enemies, but we couldn’t do much damage. We barely managed something, but we didn’t exactly lose. To access another player’s base, you need to craft some stones that summon golems during raid hours. After channeling for several minutes, you can mount them and destroy enemy structures. The downside is that they’re kind of weak and not easy to craft. So if you run out of golems in the middle of the battle, you’ve got nothing left but to go home.

Another downside is that if a player mounts a golem, that’s one less person on the team, which can make teamfights a lot harder. I’ve read several player opinions on Reddit about this, and some say it doesn’t make sense to summon a golem to raid. I think they’re right. It’d be nice if they implemented other raiding methods, but for now, this is what we’ve got.

We returned home and planned to attack the next day (Sunday), but this time with many more golems. By nightfall, the time came and we launched the attack. We spent a long time fighting. It was really intense. It was almost impossible to fight during the day since the sun would burn us (it’s a vampire game and the sun kills you). We fought for quite a while until we managed to access just one area of the enemy castle and steal a unique necklace on the server, but we didn’t get any further than that. The enemy’s defense was flawless, and their base was incredibly well positioned.

_{After a while, Oldfool disconnected thinking nothing else would happen, but things got exciting. Obviously they wouldn’t just sit still after we tried to invade them twice, so they launched an attack taking advantage of our disadvantage. Honestly, I thought all was lost.}

They summoned the golems and the battle began. We started playing the retreat game: going in and out of the house to recover. It was a 3v4, then a 3v5, and then another joined, making it a 3v6. Teaming in this game is kind of annoying, but there’s nothing you can do about it. Of course we died several times, but as long as they didn’t reach the heart of our castle, everything was under control. I don’t know how long we held out, but it was a lot. I think more than an hour of fighting, repairing, healing, screaming… it was very exciting.

In the end, they ran out of golems 5 minutes before raid time ended. So it was a complete GG. In global chat they threatened us saying that next weekend they’ll make us leave the server and blah blah blah. We’ll see how it goes this time.

I hope you enjoyed my little experience in V Rising. I know I don’t explain very well what the whole game is about, I can only say that this game has one of the most rewarding PvPs I’ve ever played. I don’t know if it’s balanced, but it’s definitely fair. All skills, including weapon skills, are skillshots, which makes you play on equal footing. As I said above: at the beginning we couldn’t even handle a 3v1. Playing well and using your skills at the right time really pays off in this game.

Feliz año nuevo (¿?)

Lo sé, llego bastante tarde y ya casi estamos a mitad de año.

A principios de año tenía pensado volver a subir contenido. Estaba algo emocionado, mis amigos también lo estaban. No sé si lo decían en broma o no, pero creí que volverían a escribir y subir contenido como antes.

Se repite la historia

El año pasado, más o menos por estas fechas, empecé a streamear en Vimm después de estar tanto tiempo sin crear ningún tipo de contenido. Estuve días haciendo streams seguidos sin parar y estaba motivado. Creo que el clima nublado y la lluvia de estos días me impulsan de alguna manera, por más tonto que suene. Eso sí, también es más probable que haya apagones, pero ese es el día a día, llueva o no.

Mi último post oficial fue hace casi 8 meses. Honestamente, creí que había pasado más tiempo. ¿Qué hice en ese tiempo, te preguntarás? No demasiado, pero está claro que escribir o hacer gameplays no fue una de ellas. Se siente raro escribir después de tanto tiempo, pero es como andar en bicicleta: nunca se olvida.

Algo que he hecho estos días es jugar V Rising con los muchachos. Ha estado muy bueno. Hace unos meses jugamos bastante y estábamos esperando la "supuesta" actualización que nunca llegaba... hasta que el 28 del mes pasado se lanzó. La update trajo un poco de contenido nuevo y varios cambios muy buenos. Ese mismo día empezó la locura. Ojalá haber documentado todo.

En este juego los recursos y los jefes están disponibles para todos los jugadores, pero son algo limitados. Para obtener mejoras y nuevas recetas, debes matar a estos jefes. Al hacerlo reaparecen después de un tiempo. No te imaginas el caos que hubo apenas el server inició.

De momento el servidor está limitado a un máximo de 60 jugadores. Así que en ese instante, fueron 60 jugadores peleando sin parar. Yo entré un poco tarde y tuve que esperar en cola un buen rato. Apenas entré, después de que mi protección temporal expiró, morí más de 20 veces ese día. Lo peor es que cuando mueres pierdes todo lo que hayas farmeado, exceptuando tus armas y equipamiento (aunque hay servidores full loot, donde lo pierdes todo al morir= una pesadilla).

Los fines de semana a ciertas horas se permite a los jugadores raidear o robar la fortaleza de otros. Eso pone el ambiente tenso, o raideas, o esperas a que te raideen… o ambas. Ambas sucedieron este domingo. Fue algo inesperado, todo se salió de control, pero fue muy emocionante. Antes de seguir debo ponerlos en contexto.

Hace unos meses jugamos un rato a este jueguito de vampiros. Vencimos a todos los jefes del juego e hicimos poco PvP. El primer raideo que hicimos fue a una base que parecía estar vacía. Fue algo aburrido, ya que no hubo acción, solo saqueamos un par de cosas y nos fuimos. Eso parece que molestó a otros jugadores, que luego nos dejarían sin nada. Lo peor es que solo yo estuve para defender nuestro hogar... Bueno, si es que lo que hice se puede llamar defensa, la realidad es que me destrozaron en segundos.

Mis amigos pensaron que nadie se metería con nosotros y estaban rankeando en Valorant. Así que, apenas les dije que nos estaban atacando, ya era tarde. Si cerraban el juego, los penalizarían, así que no pudieron llegar a tiempo.

Después de que ya se habían robado casi todo, hubo otro raideo que hizo que fuese casi imposible recuperarnos. A pesar de que no te roban las armas o el equipamiento, al morir pierden mucha durabilidad y pueden romperse. Eso hace imposible repararlas sin materiales, y quedas fuera de la batalla.

Nos desanimamos bastante, pero no queríamos dejar de jugar. Así que nos fuimos a practicar PvP en servidores de práctica. La verdad es que se aprende mucho y se mejora bastante. Yo, en lo personal, era bastante malo (y sigo siéndolo en el PvP 1v1), pero ahora me muevo un poco mejor y entiendo más las habilidades.

Mis amigos también mejoraron bastante. En aquel entonces, mi party o clan estaba conformado por Miguel, @therealflaws y @brataka. Fue bastante divertido pelear junto a ellos. Éramos tan malos que podíamos perder un 3v1.

Ya habiendo dado todo este contexto, volvamos con lo que pasó el domingo. Esta vez @dog3zz y @oldfool se unieron a nosotros en la update, siendo Miguel (Laperroncha) el líder del grupo. Él ha sido uno de los que más ha mejorado en el PvP. Yo decidí desempeñar un rol de "support", curando en las batallas y dando algunos escudos mientras usaba mis pistolas para hacer un poco de daño. Dog3zz (Flamito) fue obligado a jugar ballesta con habilidades de hielo. Nada que decir sobre él: una bestia insana.

El sábado hicimos un mini ataque a nuestros enemigos, pero no pudimos hacerles mucho daño. Apenas logramos algo, pero no perdimos como tal. Para poder acceder a la base de otro jugador necesitas crear unas piedras que invocan golems durante las horas de raideo. Luego de que canalizan durante varios minutos, puedes montarte y destruir estructuras enemigas. Lo malo es que son algo débiles y no son tan fáciles de craftear. Entonces si en medio de la batalla te quedas sin golems, simplemente ya no te queda más que volver a casa.

Otra cosa negativa es que si un jugador se sube al golem, es un jugador menos en el equipo, lo que puede dificultar mucho las teamfights. He leído varias opiniones de los jugadores en Reddit sobre esto, y algunos dicen que no tiene sentido invocar un golem para raidear. Yo creo que tienen razón. Sería bueno que implementaran otras maneras de raideo, pero de momento esto es lo que hay.

Regresamos a casa y planificamos atacar al siguiente día (domingo), pero esta vez con muchos más golems. Ya por la noche llegó la hora y lanzamos el ataque. Estuvimos mucho tiempo peleando. Fue muy reñido. Casi era imposible luchar de día ya que el sol nos quemaba (es un juego de vampiros y el sol te mata). Estuvimos un buen rato hasta que pudimos acceder solo a una zona del castillo enemigo y robar un collar único en el servidor, pero no pasamos más de ahí. La defensa del enemigo era impecable, además de que su base estaba increíblemente bien posicionada.

Al rato Oldfool se desconecta pensando que ya no pasaría nada, pero las cosas se pusieron emocionantes. Obviamente ellos no se quedarían de manos cruzadas después de que intentamos invadirlos dos veces, así que lanzaron un ataque aprovechando que estábamos en desventaja. Honestamente, vi todo perdido.

Invocaron los golems y empezó la batalla. Empezamos a jugar al backeo: salíamos y entrábamos a la casa para recuperarnos. Éramos 3v4, luego fue un 3v5, y después se sumó otro más, haciendo un total de 3v6. El teaming en este juego es algo molesto, pero no se puede hacer nada. Obviamente morimos varias veces, pero mientras no llegasen al corazón de nuestro castillo, todo estaba bajo control. No sé cuánto tiempo aguantamos, pero fue mucho. Creo que más de una hora peleando, reparando, curándonos, gritando… fue muy emocionante.
