Exploring the Wilds of Vurhonga Savanna in theHunter: Call of the W...

I have been playing theHunter: Call of the Wild for some time now. I enjoy doing missions and exploring wildlife and taking in the views from different parts of the world.

I logged into the Vurhonga Savannah reserve, it is one of the most beautiful reserves in the game. It provides plenty of hunting opportunities with some stunning views ranging from wide open plains to dense forests. Hunting here is both fun and sometimes challenging. There are some difficult predators that roam here including lions and jackals.

I had an ongoing mission on this map called, "Praise the Ancestors", my next objective was to hunt a springbok and pass the harvest checks while holding some relics. This was an ancient custom in this part of the world.

Anyways, I went in the search of a Springbok. I got lucky and found a couple of grazing, I snuck closer and shot one of them only to find out that my weapon was not appropriate for this kill and I will not get the harvest check.

You can see from the harvest details that I failed to meet two checks in this kill. I was using a 7MM EMPRESS MAGNUM which only covers class 4-9 animals. But Springboks are only class 3 so, I need to get my ranger .243 to kill them ethically.

This meant I had to get back to my outpost and change my loadout. On my way, I saw a Lesser Kudu, it was resting so that was an easy shot for me. I took the shot from a long distance. Sadly it was just a small female and gave me no trophy.

I saw a Cape Buffalo, what a beast they are, I took a shot but even with my 7MM, it escaped and didn't die. I try to follow the blood trails but the blood loss was minimum and I decided to call off the search easier.

Luckily while I was following the blood tracks with little to no hope, I heard a warning call from another Lesser Kudu, it was coming from close so, I made my dog sit and slowly approached the direction of the sound. But it got spooked and came running towards me, it even injured me as well. I quickly switched over to my rifle and took a shot on this running Kudu.

I took the shot but it was hard to get a vital shot, any shot on this small animal will mean a deadly shot from my 7MM. I had to track it down for a few hundred meters.

Right after harvesting this Kudu I noticed another one, it was a much bigger one with long horns. I took my time with this one. This one gave me a gold trophy. My first gold Lesser Kudu ever. Look at those horns.

Okay, enough distraction for the day, it was time to focus on my current objective. By now I was way away from my starting outpost, so I decided to go to the next one. I got there and now I have another fast travel location. It will come in handy in upcoming missions.

At this outpost, I bought some bullets for my ranger .243 and went looking for Springbok. But it was now getting dark so I decided to take a rest and wake up early in the morning, I don't like to hunt at night. It becomes a mess and very difficult to see.

So, the next morning, I was fully prepared to hunt some Springboks. I went to the location where I saw a couple before but couldn't find one. So, I search in the open plains next to that. I found one travelling away from me. I took a shot hastily but missed it completely.

I was getting impatient now. If it was the start of my playing session, I would have followed it and taken my sweet time with it but I spooked it and now there was no chance he is coming back.

So, I went looking for another one. Fortunately, I saw another one. I took my time with this one, it was a small group grazing and they were anxious when I approached but I got closer to them. And when I was certain, only then I pulled the trigger.

It dropped dead quickly and when I harvest my kill, I got another objective. I now had to bury this totem in a particular place close to a river. It was part of a local custom. Well, I didn't ask any questions and proceeded to bury it by the riverside. And this marked the end of my missions. It was a fairly easy one with just the requirement being an ethical kill.

While I was thinking of my next move, a Cape Buffalo attacked me, it tried to kill me. I had to dodge a couple of times and get away from this charged beast. It took me 3 shots in total to take down this one. I will say that it is one of the toughest animals I have found now.
