It's done! The Mountaintops of the Giants has both been traversed and conquered. This place was absolutely nuts. Trolls. Dead frozen giants. Giant hands. Giant dogs. Giant crows. Lots and lots of big stuffs.
The boss here was absolutely nuts as well. One huge fire giant who came at me with a plate. Or I guess it's more like a satellite dish at this point. He obliterated me on my first attempt, I had a good run on my second attempt and I took him down on my 3rd attempt. What's crazy about this guy is that when you get him low he'll rip off his own foot and go into a burning frenzy. His whole body pretty much turns into a big face that spews fire. Absolutely mental.
After he was down we had a free pass towards the giant fire bucket where we kindled ourselves and set the Erdtree aflame. That was one of the coolest cutscenes I've seen in the game so far. It also ended up teleporting us Crumbling Farum Azula, the giant tornado castle in the sky that I've been to before but only seen at a distance. This place is pretty harsh but definitely surpassable.
I already killed one of the bosses here and tomorrow I'll take down two more. Or at least attempt to take down two more. I started the Dragonlord Placidusax fight today and died three times to him. This dragon is absolutely bonkers with fire, lightning and lazer beams. He absolutely destroys and has one of the coolest boss arenas I've seen ever. Just check this out:
We'll be returning to this guy tomorrow and hopefully we can take him down. If we do we're moving on to Maliketh afterwards which will be another big hurdle. Tomorrow will probably be a boss stream with a lot of deaths. I hope to see you there!
Join me on my stream
I stream only for fun and because I can. Feel free to stop by, say hello and follow me if you like what you see. My gameplay sessions are saved as VODs for 14 days and will be edited into this post once the stream ends.
Stream info
We're doing a long stream today. I'm on holidays, my girlfriend is out of the apartment and I have snacks. It's basically a perfect recipe for a 5 hour stream. Hopefully that should be more than enough time to clear out this mountain. It's a harsh and unforgiving place but no challenge is to great for my +9 Grafted Greatsword.
We did a fair bit of exploration up here in the last stream but the dungeons we encountered were huge timesinks. These dungeons were deliberately crafted to annoy the shit out of you and it didn't help that they were quite the mazes either.
I've also gone and upgraded my Mimic Tear quite a bit and that thing destroys now. It's incredibly tanky and seems to deal about half the damage that I do. And that's quite a decent bit already. I'm gonna have to try and not trivialize the game to much with it. I still want it to be a decent challenge afterall.
