Dave the Diver is a game that has a perfect mix between relaxation and stress. An in-game day consists of two phases. You dive up to three times per day, exploring and collecting fish. This is the relaxing part. When the evening comes you use your fresh catch to run the sushi restaurant. This is the stressful part. All the stress has borne fruit because I've now been able to open a second restaurant branch.
Passive income baby
Things start to get quite expensive when you get deep into Dave the Diver. Gear upgrades start costing in the thousands. Expanding your farms cost even more. Training your staff ends up at crazy sums as well. Luckily the game introduces ways for you to earn moer as the game progresses. Both from being able to catch and sell more expensive fish and dishes but you also get a few sources of passive income.
One you unlock rather early is the Fish Farm. Once unlocked you'll now sometimes find roe (fish eggs) that can be placed in the fish farm. Over time they will grow into proper fish, and as long as you find two or more of the same fish they will breed and multiply. The fish that's bred here can either be transferred to the restaurant to be made into dishes, or they can be sold outright for a decent amount of cash. I've been doing a bit of both.
New branch, who dis
The best piece of passive income comes when you're able to open the new branch. This happens after winning a set of cooking competitions. This is basically a second restaurant that's run by NPC staff. You can choose to transfer fish and ingredients from the fish farms to the branch restaurant and they'll use those to run the restaurant. It has a bit of a cost to get going early on as you need to hire and train staff that can run it. It's definitely going to be worth it though.
I've only had the branch open for one day and in that day I made almost 2,500 gold. That's around 20% of what I made from the main restaurant on the same day. Over time this is going to be a fantastic investment that will help speed up my progress in the later stages of the game. Using the money to hire and train better staff will just multiply these earnings as well.
I have so much unlocked and so much to manage in Dave the Diver now. The game just keeps on expanding. I wonder if there's more like this to be unlocked down the road or if I'm nearing the end. I'm 24 hours into the game now.
