My inevitable death finally caught up to me in Project Zomboid and it happened in one of the most annoying ways I could imagine.
I was on a really good run. I had survived for five full days which was a new personal record. I was kitted out with firefighter and police gear which gave off really good protection against zombie bites and scratches. I had taken over the local fire station and made it my base. I had tons of loot going for me when the inevitable disaster hit.
I was doing a pretty normal loot run. I had scoped out the court building just north of the fire station a few days ago but decided it was to dangerous at the time. I was feeling more confident now and managed to clear out the small horde that was hanging out in front of the building. One by one I lured them away from the pack and smashed their head ins. Easy. It really felt easy.
When I got inside I started looting the place immediately. I found a ton of cigarettes in all of the office drawers. I guess employees of the state take a lot of smoke breaks. When I was heading into one of the rooms I didn't pay enough attention and a zombie jumped me and bit me. In Project Zomboid a bite equals certain death. A few days later you'll turned into a zombie. All of this happened because I was getting overconfident and sloppy. I didn't take proper measures to make sure the room I was going into was clear of zombies. Dumb, and it's all my own fault.
It all felt pretty hopeless from there on out. Why would I even bother continue playing this character when I knew he would turn into a zombie in a day or two? I decided to make the most out of a bad situation so I went for a run to quickly explore the rest of the town.
I managed to uncover most of the Rosewood map so I now know where all of the shops and restaurants are. I also know where to find a auto repair shop and a motel. I'm guessing these places hold a lot of good tools and other items that could help me out on a new character.
This characters entire journey has been recorded and uploaded to YouTube so if you want to check that out you're free to do so below. I've recorded a few more episodes for a new character attempting to reach those 10 days of survival but I'm not sure how long I'm going to keep it going. I can feel a bit of fatigue setting in with this game as it feels like I'm mostly doing the same thing over and over again on each new character. The fact that the game is pretty slow and at times tedious as well doesn't help. Focusing on extreme realism will do that to a game.
Anyways, take a look at the episodes below if you want to.
