Yesterday, I posted about the professional career I'd decided to pursue in the PS5 version of F125, a game that, despite its flaws, I find to be quite solid.
In it, I talked about how I chose Prema Racing as my initial F2 team, which made sense considering my affinity with Ferrari, as well as the fact that I wanted to eventually be offered a contract to drive their car.
The first race of the F2 season was Sakhir, and although the controls took a bit of getting used to (since I want to get through each race with as little assistance as possible), I managed to win after starting fourth on the grid.
The next circuit I had was Jeddah, and honestly, despite having done a few races there, I think it's one of my favorite circuits to race in Formula 2. It's quite narrow, but most of the corners can be taken at high speed. I struggled a bit more to complete the qualifying session in Jeddah, but I ultimately managed to secure a second place on the starting grid. I only had to battle a bit with my teammate Kimi Antonelli to get to the lead.
I made a couple of mistakes on the opening lap that dropped me to fourth place, and after spending several laps chasing Isaac Hadjar, I took my victory in Jeddah.
The next track was Australia, although I admit I decided to give my brother a chance to race here. He's much more skilled than me, and he not only took pole position but also won the race by almost 5 seconds, which is crazy considering it was only 5 laps of racing.
I played with the same setup as last track, the only difference being that I decided to turn off the power brakes completely. The difference is noticeable and can make things tricky at first, but once you get the hang of braking, it can help you achieve good times.
Something I didn't mention in the previous post is that I think the way this game portrays victories is great, very faithful to the experience we have when watching a real race. The competitor animations, the dialogue provided by the commentators, and the podium animations are extremely faithful. I like that there's a real difference between the magnitude of an F2 race and an F1 race, something that also happens in real life.
F2, as I said before, is a bit easier than F1. The car doesn't respond as well to corners, but gear changes are more manageable, and you don't have to manage the batteries. So it's a good starting point to get familiar with driving a car without being overwhelmed by all the mechanics you have to master.
