I scanned a few planets in the Suzukai system to pick location for my first base. This system has 5 planets and 1 moon. Nuscan Alpha, the planet where I started the game, was too hot. Anzusu Minor, the second planet I visited to get base computer blueprint was radioactive.
First candidate was Iree, moon of Anzusu Minor. I decided not to settle in this lifeless moon, and scanned other planets, Lepu II and Naeanett Sigma. Scan result for Lepu II says "flourishing planet" with Copper, Cobalt, and so on. I decided to land this planet and see if it's suitable for my first base.
It's full of water with scattered islands. Not exactly good because I can't build underwater base for now, but temperature is mild and I can harvest lots of carbon from plants. Also, there are occasional hot storms with rain and thunder. Flourishing indeed.
I need to make sure starship launch thruster is always charged. When storm comes in the middle of exploration, I should call my starship to my location to use as a shelter. Another way to avoid storm is to dig a cave with terrain manipulator, but I prefer starship because it's fast and convenient.
I installed my base computer at the edge of an island, and built a small hut. The base computer has an unknown traveler's log and blueprints for useful items which will become available bit by bit as the journey continues. I also built a teleport gate, a biofuel reactor, and a battery.
With help of the base computer's log, I'm following the unknown traveler's path. The next destination is the space station.
By the way, this planet has a beautiful sunset.
