En esta oportunidad estaré haciendo un análisis, en aspectos técnicos y generales, del juego Remothered: Tormented Fathers. Un juego que, a pesar de tener una baja repercusión mediática, supo ganarse un puesto fijo — bien merecido, por cierto — en el género «survival horror».
Remothered: Tormented Fathers es un título fuertemente influenciado por los juegos clásicos de terror de los años 90; siendo Clock Tower: The First Fear su principal figura de inspiración. El juego fue desarrollado por el no tan conocido estudio italiano Storming Games, y distribuido por Darril Arts. Su lanzamiento al mercado fue el 30 de enero del 2018, solo para la plataforma Microsoft Windows; 178 días después para Xbox One y PlayStation 4 (25 de julio de 2018); y luego, gracias a la colaboración Darril Arts - Dico, el juego fue lanzado para la consola Nintendo Switch el 19 de julio de 2019.

This time I will make an analysis, in technical and general aspects, of the game Remothered: Tormented Fathers. A game that, despite having a low impact on the media, managed to gain a fixed place, — well deserved, by the way — in the «survival horror» genre.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a game strongly influenced by the classic horror games of the 90s; Clock Tower: The first fear is its main figure of inspiration. The game was developed by the not so well-known Italian studio Storming Games, and distributed by Darril Arts. Its market launch was on January 30-2018, only for the Microsoft Windows platform; 178 days later for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (July 25-2018); And then, thanks to the Darril Arts - Dico collaboration, the game was released for the Nintendo Switch console on July 19, 2019.
ARGUMENTO
La historia nos traslada hasta los zapatos de Rosemary Reed; una doctora del instituto Santa Margherita que, tras leer el expediente clínico del paciente Richard Felton, decide visitar su mansión para administrarle un tratamiento experimental que posiblemente lo ayude a sanar la misteriosa enfermedad que lo acompaña. Durante la entrevista medica se revela que la hija adoptiva de Felton, Celeste, desapareció en extrañas y rarísimas circunstancias; y su padre no muestra interés alguno en lo ocurrido. La intuición y agudeza mental de la doctora Reed la obligarán a desentrañar los secretos asociados a la desaparición de la niña, y quedar atrapada en la que quizás sea la peor pesadilla de su vida...
También hay que mencionar que la trama esta ambientada en los años 70...
ARGUMENT
The plot take us to Rosemary Reed's shoes; a doctor from the Santa Margherita institute who, after reading the medical history of the patient Richard Felton, decides to visit his mansion to administer an experimental treatment that possibly helps him to cure the mysterious disease that accompanies him. During the medical interview it is revealed that Felton's adoptive daughter, Celeste, disappeared under strange circumstances; and his father shows no interest in what happened. Dr. Reed's intuition and mental sharpness will force her to unravel the secrets associated with the girl's disappearance, and be trapped in what may be the worst nightmare of her life...
I also have to mention that the plot takes place in the 70s...
JUGABILIDAD
Remothered: Tormented Fathers solo cuenta con un modo de juego: el modo campaña. Este modo está dividido en 6 capítulos que iremos desbloqueando linealmente al concluir el anterior. El juego tiene una perspectiva en tercera persona; apostando por un personaje visible — una implementación muy rara en la actualidad — alejándose del terror en primera persona impuesto por títulos como Outlast, Amnesia, Slender, P. T, y muchos otros.
La esencia del juego consiste en huir y escondernos de un desquiciado psicópata; un asesino que nos buscará y perseguirá por toda los cuartos y pasadizos de la mansión, sin descanso alguno. — Siendo su mecánica una mezcla entre el género «survival» y el sigilo táctico.
En Remothered: Tormented Fathers, como en cualquier «survival horror», las funciones de los botones del control se reducen a 4 acciones básicas: moverse, agacharse, esconderse e interactuar con los elementos del entorno.
Nunca tuve la oportunidad de jugar este juego en Xbox, así que hablaré de mi experiencia cuando lo jugué en la PlayStation, hace un par de meses.
La jugabilidad es muy sencilla: En el apartado de los botones principales usaremos el círculo para esquivar, [X] para interactuar con los elementos, triangulo para abrir inventario y cuadrado para engañar al asesino; distrayéndolo con objetos y sonidos. En el apartado del joystick usaremos el thumbstick derecho para caminar, y presionando el stick analógico se activará la linterna; y el thumbstick izquierdo nos servirá para mover la cámara, y presionando el stick analógico nos agacharemos. En el apartado de los botones superiores [R1] servirá para correr [R2] para lanzar los objetos, [L1] para activar la vista trasera y [L2] para sostener las puertas.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers tiene un estilo de progresión muy propio de la vieja escuela — ese en donde tendremos que resolver puzzles y acertijos para ir avanzando en la trama.
Si sientes nostalgia y añoras la jugabilidad de títulos como Clock Tower: The First Fear y Resident Evil 1, este juego te gustará...
HOW TO PLAY
Remothered: Tormented Fathers only has one game mode: campaign mode. This mode is divided into 6 chapters that we will unlock linearly at the end of the previous one. The game has a third person perspective; betting on a visible character — a very rare implementation today — moving away from the horror in first person imposed by titles like Outlast, Amnesia, Slender, P.T and many others.
The essence of the game is to escape and hide from a deranged psychopath; an assassin who will search and chase us through all the rooms and corridors of the mansion, without any rest. — Its mechanics is a mixture between the genre «survival» and the tactical stealth.
In Remothered: Tormented Fathers, as in any «survival horror», the functions of the control buttons are reduced to 4 basic actions: move, stoop, hide and interact with the elements of the environment.
I never had a chance to play this game on Xbox, so I'll talk about my experience when I played it on PlayStation, a couple of months ago.
The game is very simple: in the main button section we will use the circle to dodge the attacks, [X] to interact with the elements, the triangle to open the inventory and the square to trick the assassin; distracting him with objects and sounds. In the joystick section we will use the right stick to walk, and pressing it will activate the flashlight; and the left stick will serve to move the camera, and pressing it we will tilt down. In the upper button section [R1] will be used to execute [R2] to launch objects, [L1] to activate rear view and [L2] to hold doors.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers has a very old-school progression style — where we will have to solve puzzles and riddles to advance in the plot.

MECÁNICA DEL JUEGO
Esta macabra mecánica cazador-presa es el corazón de toda la experiencia de Remothered: Tormented Fathers. En varias ocasiones estaremos escondidos en un armario entreabierto, mirando como un psicópata se acerca, y tendremos que controlar el miedo con algunos quick time event — la tecnología háptica del control hace más realista la situación.
Aquí no usaremos armas, y nada detendrá al implacable enemigo. Esto nos obliga a observar, esperar y memorizar; digo memorizar porque es muy fácil perderse en los escenarios de la casa, ya que no tenemos ningún mapa.
Hay que aclarar que Remothered: Tormented Fathers no es de juego de terror-acción, ni tampoco de velocidad; bien es cierto que hay escenas de persecución, pero solo si no eres lo suficientemente cuidadoso.
Nuestra mejor arma es el sigilo, la oscuridad, el silencio y sobre todo la paciencia...
GAME MECHANICS
This ghoulish "hunter-prey" mechanic is the heart of the entire Remothered: Tormented Parents experience. On several occasions we will hide in a half-open closet, watching a psychopath approach, and we will have to control our fear with some "quick time event" — haptic control technology makes the situation more realistic.
Here we will not use weapons, and nothing will stop the implacable enemy. This forces us to observe, wait and memorize; I say memorize because it is very easy to get lost in the mansion, since we don't have any map.
It should be clarified that Remothered: Tormented Fathers is not a horror-action game, nor a speed game; It's true that there are chase scenes, but only if you are not careful enough.
Our best weapon is stealth, darkness, silence and, above all, patience ...
CONCLUSIÓN
Storming Games, para ser un estudio casi desconocido, supo muy bien como transmitir esa sensación de tensión y miedo que no puede faltar en un buen «survival». Tal vez el modelado de los personajes no es igual al de un juego triple A, pero la verdad es que la atmósfera oscura acompañada de los sonidos y monólogos del antagonista, compensan muy bien esa falta.
Lamentablemente esa primera impresión va desapareciendo poco a poco, cada vez que nos atrapen y nos asesinen — como he mencionado en reiteradas ocasiones.
Una cosa que si no puedo pasar por alto es la mala sincronización de los labios y gestos de los personajes, en algunas escenas de su cinemática. Muchas veces, cuando ya estamos inmersos en la dinámica de la narrativa, perdemos esa poca experiencia por esta razón.
También puede que Remothered: Tormented Fathers, después de un par de horas de juego, se convierta en un angustiante ciclo: Avanzar a un objetivo, huir, esconderse, esperar y repetir — si no tienes paciencia, esta mecánica te terminara cansando...
Por esa razón, únicamente si eres alguien paciente que le gusta el estilo de la vieja escuela, entonces, solo entonces, te recomiendo este juego...
CONCLUSION
Storming Games, being an almost unknown studio, knew very well how to transmit that feeling of tension and fear that cannot be lacking in good «survival». Perhaps the modeling of the characters is not the same as in a triple A game, but the truth is that the dark atmosphere accompanied by the sounds and monologues of the antagonist, very well compensates for this lack.
Unfortunately, that first impression gradually disappears, every time they catch us and kill us.
One thing that I can't ignore is the poor synchronization of the lips and the gestures of the characters, in some scenes of their cinematics. Many times, when we are already immersed in the dynamics of the narrative, we lose that little experience for this reason.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers can also, after a couple of hours of play, turn into a heartbreaking cycle: move towards a goal, run away, hide, wait and repeat: if you don't have patience, this mechanic will tire you out...
For that reason, only if you are someone patient who likes old school style, then, only then, I recommend this game...
