Hello gamer friend's, I hope you all are doing fine!
When I was a teenager, in 2002, I was 12 years old, a friend mine time that’s still a fan of games like me, introduced me to the game that, for sure, I spent most time of my life , or I won relaxing LOL, making a passion, playing, and that game was nothing more than Counter Strike. I believe everyone who is reading this post has heard of counter strike yet, A game which pass throught generations and still making new fans today, moves large competitions around the world, and has a skin market that we can consider one of the pioneers in games, almost an NFT.
The game was divided into two teams, terrorists and counter-terrorists, and basically you had two map modes, DE_MAP where the map the terrorists had to plant the bomb and the counter-terrorists defuese and CS_MAP, were maps where counter-terrorists needed to rescue the hostages that were in the possession of the terrorists, all in round of a few minutes, it's the first FPS game I have ever played.
As our computers were really bad, we would go on the weekends to lan houses, where we could play 4 hours for only R$ 10.00 (around 2 USD). There were a lot of games to play, like warcraft, tibia, ragnarok, and much more, but we would always play CS 100% of the time. I really miss that, the screams from knife kills, the swearing, and even some fights would happen, hahahahaah.
I think this were the golden age of the online gaming in my personal experience. a Coca Cola, some snickers and twix, and the joy was complete. That would be enough to make us happy for the whole weekend, because we would spend saturday and sunday only talking about our gaming time on friday and the possible new strategies we would prepare for our comeback !
Something that we would do everytime and was pretty cool. Was using shields + smoke granades on online matches. Since most of the brazillian players had really bad computers, the smoke granades would freeze most of people's computers. Since we were playing in lanhouses with good computers, it would not affect us, and we would carry a lot of kills each map. People ended up leaving the server most of the times. A few servers even had options to ban smoke granades from matches. The shield was also one of my favorite gear. It would cause people to really rage. They would keep calling me noob while i smoked the shit out of them while rushing with the shield and a Deser Eagle. Using shield in lan house matches was the main reason of breaking fights lol.
When it was possible to buy a better computer and the residential internet in Brazil also began to improve capacity, this around 2008, new versions that we used to play in lan houses, CS 1.6, Condition Zero and Source had already come out, but we were still playing CS 1.6 outside of Steam, and we would look for random servers, which due the lack of server anti cheating security there were a lot of cheaters.
Even though it didn't stop our five to ten friends from getting together to play the MIX, it was like the counter strike GO of today's competition mode.
a team of 5 players against another team, usually better than 15 rounds, but in this times of MIX, it was a decision between players, in this modality that was outside Steam.
You could also look for random rooms, but it was very difficult for these servers and players accept you.
But another mode that I loved play, and currently the only mode I have played these days, after the hype of cryptogames, is Gun game, We would find there the most number of cheaters in the game, but it was a lot of fun, you started with one weapon and every two kills, you got a new weapon, and generally you went through almost every weapon in the game until you got to the golden knife, whoever got the first kill with the golden knife win the match. And the map I liked to play in the most was de_pollday.
I am currently still playing Counter Strike Global Offensive, but talking about the CS1.6 got me really nostalgic, it reminded of some old classic games like, The game ofl ife, Monopoly and even Carmen Sandiego, things that I had forgotten until now.
Currently I'm off patent in competitive mode, as I said, I've only been playing gun game mode with my friends, but I still have fun for at least 3 hours a week, I always used the nickname SMK or SMOKE, now I use SMOKE710, please send me a friend request so we can share some shots, pixel grenades and calls.
