Learning how to play TFT. My perspective.

Recently, I've been playing "a lot" of TFT, whenever i can rank queu up at least 2 games i'll do it, and even though my rank is Gold 3 (EUW) at the moment i'd like to rank a lot more, and my immediate objective is to hit Platinum. It's not much i'll give you that, but something that i've been focused on since i started to play again is to maximize my learning experience, not so mucho focused on the rank itself.
TFT is no stranger to me, played on and off throughout the years, but not really paying attention to the mechanics of the game, just playing out some comps, and forcing them constantly, and it was Top 8 more often than not.
So as soon as the Patch 8 was released, i went into learning the basics and the gameplay itfself, why and where to do some movements, learning the units and the meta.
So, with that being said, i'll share with you some of the things i've learned to further understand the game, nothign too technical, we can maybe call it tips, even though i don't really like that word.
Beware: the images of the post are taken in a normal game, to illustrate my points, not to be taken as a how to play example.
The Basics
This is probably the first step to learning everything in life i'd say, in TFT after going through blogs, youtube videos and such i came to the realization that you need to know some concepts that will up your game easily, and i'll divide them in three.
They are: Economy, Meta/Positioning and Building.
I actually simplified them, inside these 3 concepts are a lot of gameplay and control. But i'll explain them further into the post.
But, before getting into the concepts, Why is it so important?, learning and acknowledging them will make you play better, no matter the season, no matter the situation, you'll always play round these basics.
I'm no expert not even a great TFT Player, if you want to read and watch some great TFT gameplay i'd recommend my friend @oldfool.
Economy
The economy of TFT is something rather complicated to understand, I found myself very often with doubts of what to do next, in order to spend or not the money I have. The money you have in hand will allow you to lvl up, buy units and overall improve your table, but when?
That's the question i started to ask myself. So these are some basic tips i can give you, keep in mind, Economy, Meta and Building are playing a role together at all time.
Interest: Apart from the passive income you'll have every round no matter the position you found yourself in, you have something call interest, you'll receive from 1 to 5 gold every 10 old you're saving. So, if you have 40 you'll receive 4 extra gold, and if you have 10 you'll receive 1 extra gold.
Loosing and Winning Streaks: This will allow you to gain extra gold, whenever you're in a streak the game will award you for winning streaks and compesate you for loosing streaks.
What to do with this information?. If you have 18 gold, and have a 2 cost unit in the bench and you lose you probaly have to sell the unit so you go up to 20 gold and gain extra income.
If you win, you go into 19 gold and you may sell a 1 cost unit if you have one, or buy a 1 (you'll have 18 gold) cost and sell the 2 cost so it goes up to 20.
On the opposite side, if you have 14 gold, and you won't or can't sell units to reach the 20 mark, you can spend 4 gold on units from the store, maybe you sell them later, but it's kind of a dead spot for money anyways, so it's better to have the units and if you don't need them sell them in the next round.
In this round, the first pvp round of the game, i know right off of the bat that even though i win or lose i can't make interest with the bench, all of my units make up to 7 gold, if i win i'd go into 9 and if i lose i'd go into 8. So i keep the units.
Meta and Positioning
Obviusly, with every online game you should learn the meta, in this case, the strongest comps in the current state of the game.
It was very difficult for me, i didn't played tft in a long time, so i was very confused with the synergies and the units. Often made mistakes. But that's part of the process.
With the comps i'd like to offer some advice that helped me MASSIVELY, we all like to play the strongest comps of them all, but we need to lear every unit, and the synergies between them so we can improvise on the go, that's how i play many of my games nowadays.
If you know the strongest units and comps, you'll know which ones will perform better than the rest, and most importantly wich units to play when you level up. I often ask when i'm playing: What unit is next to play if i level up?, that's something you should ask yourself everytime.
Knowing the compo will allow you to make some decide to put a 1 star unit over a 2 star or not to.
In this case, maybe a 2 star Lulu is better than 1 star Annie. And put the gadgeteen tank unit on warwick or poppy, rather than Annie. But to make the comparison, in the current state of the meta a 1 Star Gnar is better than lots of 2 star units.
It's also an example of improvising, even though it's not common, i highrolled a Warwick in shop, so i opted to include him, he's a better unit tahn a 2 Star Lulu and with Lulu i don't gain any sinergy, with Warwick and Leblanc i can get ADMIN.
Building
What do i mean by building?, you have the tools and knowledge on Economy and Meta, now you have to know, what, when and where to build, items and compositions.
You have to know the meta in order to know what type of items are better than the rest and in what situations you have to build items, also on which character to put the items.
Back in the day, i didn't knew about it, so i was holding on to the item until my main carry came online, and it was a mistake because it was often a high cost unit, maybe 3, 4 or 5 cost. So you have to build items on units called "PlaceHolders" and as the name says, they're holding the item you want to build on your main carry, something like a provisional carry.
And sometimes you'd want to build an item that it is not that optimal, just to have some sort of advantage, to hold on onto a Win Streak or not losing too much health in a Lose Streak.
Here, knowing i want to play Hackers with gadgeteen Gnar carry, you see me building a Morello into Morgana, it's not an optimal Top-Tier Item, but it's a perfectly good item to build on pyke, so i slam it in Morgana, when i include pyke into the comp i sell morgana and apply the Morello.
Conclusion
TFT is a complicated game to get the grasp of, you need to understand many concepts in order to play them without thinking too much about them, that's why i practice the basics, the thinking process and the critical, make use of tools to learn the game, i often use websites so i can check out builds, optimal items, comps and how is every unit and augment doing in the current meta.
Some of them are MetaTFT and Tactic Tools.
Use the concepts to your advantage, there's a lot i didn't include here, becuase they're concepts i don't even understand yet, i do make lots of mistakes and i'm struggling to get out of gold. But the mindset of to take every loss into consideration and wonder why it was a bad game.

Recientemente, he estado jugando "mucho" a TFT, cada vez que puedo entrar en la cola al menos 2 juegos, lo haré, y aunque mi rango es Oro 3 (EUW) en este momento me gustaría clasificar mucho más, y mi objetivo inmediato es llegar a Platino. No es mucho, obvio, pero algo en lo que me he centrado desde que comencé a jugar de nuevo es maximizar mi experiencia de aprendizaje, no tanto centrado en el rango en sí.
TFT no es algo extraño para mí, he jugado de vez en cuando a lo largo de los años, pero sin prestar atención a las mecánicas del juego, solo jugando algunas composiciones y forzándolas constantemente, como resultado quedando top 8 la mayoría de las veces.
Tan pronto como se lanzó el parche 8, comencé a aprender los conceptos básicos y el juego en sí, por qué y dónde hacer algunos movimientos, aprendiendo las unidades y el meta.
Entonces, dicho esto, compartiré con ustedes algunas de las cosas que aprendí para comprender mejor el juego, nada demasiado técnico, tal vez podamos llamarlo consejos o tips, aunque realmente no me gusta esa palabra.
Atencón: las imágenes de la publicación están tomadas en un juego normal, para ilustrar mis puntos, no para ser tomadas como un ejemplo de cómo jugar en clasificatoria.
Los conceptos básicos
Este es probablemente el primer paso para aprender todo en la vida, en TFT después de revisar blogs, videos de YouTube y demás, me di cuenta de que necesitas saber algunos conceptos que mejorarán tu juego, los dividiré en tres.
Son: Economía, Meta/Posicionamiento y Construcción.
De hecho, los simplifiqué, dentro de estos 3 conceptos hay mucho juego y control. Los explicaré más adelante en la publicación.
Pero, antes de entrar en los conceptos ¿Por qué es tan importante?, aprenderlos y reconocerlos te hará jugar mejor, sin importar la temporada, sin importar la situación, siempre jugarás alrededor de estos conceptos básicos.
No soy un experto, ni siquiera soy un gran jugador de TFT, si quieres leer y ver un gran juego de TFT, te recomiendo a mi amigo @oldfool.
Economía
La economía de TFT es algo bastante complicado de entender, muchas veces me encontré con dudas de qué hacer a continuación, para gastar o no el dinero que tengo. El dinero que tienes en la mano te permitirá subir de nivel, comprar unidades y mejorar tu mesa en general, pero ¿cuándo?
Esa es la pregunta que comencé a hacerme. Estos son algunos consejos básicos que puedo darte, ten en cuenta que la economía, el meta y la construcción juegan un papel en conjunto en todo momento.
Interés: Además de los ingresos pasivos que tendrás en cada ronda sin importar la posición en la que te encuentres, tienes algo llamado interés, recibirás de 1 a 5 de oro cada 10 que estés ahorrando. Entonces, si tienes 40, recibirás 4 de oro extra, y si tienes 10, recibirás 1 de oro extra.
Rachas ganadoras y perdedoras: Esto te permitirá ganar oro extra, siempre que estés en una racha, el juego te premiará por rachas ganadoras y te compensará por rachas perdedoras.
¿Qué hacer con esta información?. Si tiene 18 de oro y tiene una unidad de 2 de costo en el banco y pierde, probablemente tenga que vender la unidad para subir a 20 de oro y obtener ingresos adicionales.
Si gana, ingresa a 19 de oro y puede vender una unidad de costo 1 si tiene una, o comprar una unidad de costo 1 (tendrá 18 de oro) y vender el costo 2 para que suba a 20.
Por el contrario, si tiene 14 de oro y no quieres o no puedes vender unidades para llegar a la marca de 20, puede gastar 4 de oro en unidades de la tienda, tal vez las vendas más tarde, pero es una especie de punto muerto para el dinero de todos modos, por lo que es mejor tener las unidades y, si no las necesitas, venderlas en la próxima ronda.
En esta ronda, la primera ronda de PvP del juego, sé desde el principio que, aunque gane o pierda, no puedo generar interés con el banquillo, todas mis unidades suman hasta 7 de oro, si gano entraría en 9 y si pierdo iría A 8. Así que me quedo con las unidades.
Meta y posicionamiento
Obviamente, con cada juego en línea debes aprender el meta, en este caso, las composiciones más fuertes en el estado actual del juego.
Fue muy difícil para mí, hacía mucho tiempo que no jugaba tft, así que estaba muy confundido con las sinergias y las unidades. A menudo cometía errores. Pero eso es parte del proceso.
Con las composiciones, me gustaría ofrecer algunos consejos que me ayudaron MUCHÍSIMO, a todos nos gusta jugar las composiciones más fuertes de todas, pero necesitamos aprender cada unidad y las sinergias entre ellas para poder improvisar sobre la marcha, eso es cómo juego muchos de mis juegos hoy en día.
Si conoces las unidades y composiciones más fuertes, sabrás cuáles funcionarán mejor que el resto y, lo que es más importante, qué unidades jugarás cuando suba de nivel. A menudo me pregunto cuando estoy jugando: ¿Qué unidad es la próxima en jugar si subo de nivel?, eso es algo que deberías preguntarte cada vez.
Conocer la composición te permitirá tomar la decisión de poner una unidad de 1 estrella sobre una de 2 estrellas o no.
En este caso, tal vez una Lulu de 2 estrellas sea mejor que una Annie de 1 estrella. Y poner el item de tanque otorgado por gadgeteen en Warwick o Poppy, en lugar de Annie. Pero en comparación, en el estado actual del meta, un Gnar de 1 estrella es mejor que muchas unidades de 2 estrellas.
También es un ejemplo de improvisación, aunque no es común, me salió un Warwick en la tienda de manera temprana, así que opté por incluirlo, es una unidad mejor que una Lulu de 2 estrellas y con Lulu no gano ninguna sinergia extra, con Warwick y Leblanc puedo conseguir ADMIN.
Construcción
¿A qué me refiero con construir?, tienes las herramientas y conocimientos sobre Economía y Meta, ahora tienes que saber, qué, cuándo y dónde construir, objetos y composiciones.
Tienes que conocer el meta para saber qué tipo de objetos son mejores que el resto y en qué situaciones tienes que construirlos, también en qué personaje ponerlos.
En el pasado, no sabía nada al respecto, así que me aferraba a las partes de objetos hasta que mi Carry principal aparecía, y era un error porque a menudo se trataba de una unidad de coste alto, tal vez coste 3, 4 o 5. Así que tenemos que incorporar objetos en unidades llamadas "PlaceHolders" y, como su nombre lo indica, colocas el objetos que deseas construir en tu Carry principal, algo así como un Carry provisional.
Y a veces querrás crear un objeto que no sea tan óptimo, solo para tener algún tipo de ventaja, mantener una racha ganadora o no perder demasiada salud en una racha de derrotas.
Aquí, sabiendo que quiero jugar Hackers con Gadgeteen Gnar carry, me ves construyendo un Morello en Morgana, no es un artículo óptimo de de Mejor Tier, pero es un artículo perfectamente bueno para construir en pyke, así que lo coloco en Morgana, cuando incluyo pyke en la comp vendo morgana y aplico el Morello.
Conclusión
TFT es un juego complicado de entender, necesitas entender muchos conceptos para poder jugarlos sin pensar demasiado en ellos, es por eso que practico lo básico, el proceso de entender y el pensamiento crítico, uso herramientas para aprender de las partidas, a menudo uso sitios web para poder ver composiciones, objetos óptimos, y cómo está cada unidad y aumento en el meta actual.
Algunos de ellos son MetaTFT y Tactic Tools.
Usa los conceptos a tu favor, hay muchos que no incluí aquí, porque son conceptos que ni siquiera entiendo muy bien todavía, cometo muchos errores y estoy luchando por salir de oro. Pero con la mentalidad de tener en cuenta cada pérdida y preguntarse por qué fue un mal juego.
