I saw this game in a random recommendation in some stream and I don't know why it caught my attention so much. Luckily, when I looked for it on Steam I saw that it had a free demo and since I liked it so much, I'm here to talk about it. At first the name seemed quite strange to me, Zombieville USA 3D sounds like the name of a typical generic and meaningless game that they put on sale on Steam to see if someone falls into the trap of buying it. But after some research, I realized that it is based on an old and, for many, quite mythical game (Zombieville USA).
So, the scoop is simple; we will start the level in a city and we will see how the zombies start to appear. Our goal will be to hold out as long as possible, finishing off as many zombies as possible. To do this we will have a small gun, although this will change as we progress.
We will be able to move throughout the city, the more time passes the hordes of zombies will increase and will evolve. At first the enemies may be simple zombies, but over time we will see different versions of these with skills such as spitting slime balls, have more speed or be very large and withstand many shots.
Throughout the map there will also be small boxes with which we can interact. Each of these boxes will have a weapon that we can decide to buy or sell. The money is obtained simply by killing zombies. At the beginning it will be very profitable to buy all the weapons that we will find, since our simple gun will not have infinite bullets.
When we are defeated we will return to our camp. In this camp we can spend money to unlock new weapons and not only that, but we can equip them to start directly with them. We can also change characters, but I think this is purely aesthetic, as I was testing and did not notice any difference.
In addition to new weapons, we can also spend the money to acquire improvements such as increased health, the damage of melee weapons, the money we earn, among many other things. Although as this is only a demo, the game allows us to look at the available upgrades, but we will not be able to acquire them if we do not buy the game. It makes sense. Needless to say, if we want to try to get to the last round without applying any of these upgrades, we are in for a long and hard journey, but, although I couldn't, I don't think it's impossible to achieve it.
One of the best things about the game is the overall feel of the game. Despite being fairly simple, it's incredibly satisfying to start the level and start eradicating zombies. They really achieved that feeling that many roguelites generate to keep you hooked and when you die, you feel like trying again. I think this is partly thanks to the aesthetics it has, it's a mix between 'cozy' and 'gore' that gives a fun result.
Personally, I enjoyed it a lot and, being a free demo, I think it's mandatory to recommend it to anyone who has been interested in it. Who knows, maybe after trying the demo you'll be hooked enough to buy the game. In my case I feel that with the demo I had enough, but I have the feeling that the same thing will happen to me as with Grindstone and in a couple of months I might end up buying it.

Vi este juego en una recomendación random en algún stream y no sé porque me llamó tanto la atención. Por suerte, cuando lo busqué en Steam vi que tenía una demo gratuita y como me gustó tanto, vengo ha hablar un poco de ella. Al principio el nombre me pareció bastante raro, Zombieville USA 3D me suena a nombre de un típico juego genérico y sin sentido que lo ponen a la venta en Steam a ver si alguien cae en la trampa de comprarlo. Pero luego de investigar un poco, me di cuenta que está basado en un juego antiguo y, para muchos, bastante mítico (Zombieville USA).
Entonces, la primicia es simple; Iniciaremos el nivel en una ciudad y veremos cómo los zombies comienzan a aparecer. Nuestro objetivo será aguantar lo máximo posible, acabando con la mayor cantidad de zombies. Para hacerlo tendremos una pequeña pistola, aunque esto cambiará conforme progresemos.
Podremos movernos por toda la ciudad, mientras más tiempo pase las hordas de zombies aumentarán e irán evolucionando. Al principio puede que los enemigos sean zombies simples, pero con el tiempo veremos distintas versiones de estos con habilidades como escupirnos bolas de babas, tener más velocidad o ser muy grandes y aguantar muchos tiros.
A lo largo del mapa también habrá pequeñas cajas con las que podremos interactuar. Cada una de estas cajas tendrá un arma que podremos decidir comprar o vender. El dinero lo obtenemos simplemente al matar zombies. Al principio será muy rentable comprar todas las armas que nos vayamos encontrando, ya que nuestra simple pistola no tendrá balas infinitas.
Cuando seamos derrotados volveremos a nuestro campamento. En este campamento podremos gastar dinero en desbloquear nuevas armas y no solo eso, si no que podremos equipárnosla para iniciar directamente con ellas. También podremos cambiar de personajes, pero creo que esto es puramente estético, ya que estuve haciendo pruebas y no noté ninguna diferencia.
Además de las armas nuevas, también podremos gastarnos el dinero en adquirir mejoras como un aumento de salud, el daño de las armas cuerpo a cuerpo, el dinero que ganamos, entre muchas cosas más. Aunque como esto es solo una demo, el juego nos permite mirar las mejoras disponibles, pero no podremos adquirirlas si no compramos el juego. Tiene sentido. Sobra decir que si queremos intentar llegar a la ultima ronda sin aplicarnos ninguna de estas mejoras, nos espera un largo y duro viaje, pero, aunque yo no pude, no creo que sea imposible lograrlo.
Una de las mejores cosas que tiene el juego es el como se siente en general. A pesar de ser bastante simple, resulta increíblemente satisfactorio iniciar el nivel y comenzar a erradicar zombies. Realmente lograron ese sentimiento que generan muchos roguelites para mantenerte enganchado y que cuando mueras, tengas ganas de intentarlo de nuevo. Creo que en parte esto es gracias a la estética que tiene, es una mezcla entre lo ‘acogedora’ y lo ‘gore’ que da un resultado divertido.
En lo personal lo disfruté mucho y, al ser una demo gratuita, me parece obligatorio recomendarlo a cualquiera que le haya llamado la atención. Quien sabe, quizás luego de probar la demo logre engancharte lo suficiente como para comprar el juego. En mi caso siento que con la demo tuve suficiente, pero me da la sensación de que me pasará lo mismo que con Grindstone y en un par de meses a lo mejor termino pasando por caja.
