It's been a long time since I tried a platform game, and even less a singleplayer game, lately I have dedicated so much time to multiplayer games that I have forgotten how nice it can be to play alone in some occasions, to the point that sometimes I get bored when I play alone, but I took advantage that I saw that I had Fez on my PC and I decided to give it a try, after all it was the perfect opportunity to play something from the platform genre and a singleplayer, I came across a very relaxing and nice game despite being a game with a 2D aesthetic, I knew this game for many years but I never tried to play it, so here I bring you my experience.
It starts as a platform game in which you must jump between platforms to explore, you are in a kind of floating island, an island inhabited by other characters just like you, only with a little distinctive as a beard or glasses, the first goal is to reach the top of the island, where you will meet an old man who will tell you that the adventure is about to begin, After that the game will show distorted texts as if it were a glitch, and then a black screen will appear and texts like the ones that appear when you restart the PC, after that the game will send you to the main menu, I thought this was pretty cool.
Basically the game takes you back to the beginning, BUT, this is when the main mechanic comes into play, change the perspective, you can alternate the way we see the game, this will help us to reach some areas that normally we would not have been able to, the game is based on the fact that we have to assemble cubes to open doors, but to assemble these cubes we need fragments that are scattered throughout the areas of the game, when we get 8 fragments we will get a cube, some doors require certain different amounts of cubes, some require only 1 cube and there are even doors that require 16 cubes, many times we have to think carefully about how we will play with the mechanics of changing the perspective to get cubes.
As we advance we discover areas where we have to try everything in our power to advance, for example, there is an area where you can take a time bomb to destroy doors covered with debris, but only the second time you find yourself in that situation, the game forces you to play smart with the time bomb and the main mechanics, the game is telling you that there will be more complex situations and maybe not only with a time bomb, the game warns you that many times before performing certain actions, you must analyze the scenario quite carefully to know how to act, many times it is trial and error, try something and learn from it, in the game there are treasures, chests that you can open to receive a prize, and many times we must use the main mechanics of the game to get the exact route to get to the chest.
It is very easy to get lost in the world, there are many scenarios full of doors that lead you to other scenarios, many times I have no idea where I'm going, but, the game allows you to see a map, at first it took me a bit to understand it because I had not paid much attention, I wanted to keep exploring until I saw where my desire to explore took me, it was then when I realized how interesting it is to explore this world.
Fez is not a game with the latest generation graphics, it does not have many mechanics, but it is still a very interesting game, if you like platform games I'm sure you will like Fez, although most of the time we must use our brain very well to advance, it is not a game in which you will get stuck or that will make you frustrated, on the contrary, it is very relaxing, I hope you liked this post, all images were taken by me, have a good morning, afternoon or evening!
Hace mucho tiempo que no probaba algún juego de plataformas, y mucho menos a juegos singleplayer, últimamente le he dedicado tanto tiempo a juegos multijugador que he olvidado lo bonito que puede ser jugar solo en algunas ocasiones, hasta tal punto que a veces me aburro cuando me pongo a jugar solo, pero aproveché que vi que tenía Fez en mi PC y decidí darle una oportunidad, después de todo era la oportunidad perfecta para jugar algo del género plataformas y un singleplayer, me topé con un juego muy relajante y bonito a pesar de ser un juego con una estética en 2D, conocía este juego desde hace muchos años pero nunca lo intenté jugar, así que aquí les traigo mi experiencia.
Empieza como un juego de plataformas en los que debes brincar entre plataformas para explorar, estás en una especie de isla flotante, una isla habitada por otros personajes igual a ti, solo que con unos pequeños distintivos como una barba o unas gafas, el primer objetivo es llegar a la cima de la isla, donde te encontrarás con un anciano que te dirá que la aventura ya va a empezar, aparecerá un cubo 3D que te dará un gorrito, luego de eso el juego mostrará textos distorsionados como si se tratase de un glitch, para que luego salte una pantalla en negro y aparezcan textos como los que salen cuando reinicias el PC, luego de eso el juego te mandará al menu principal, esto me pareció bastante genial.
Básicamente el juego te devuelve al inicio, PERO, es acá cuando entra en juego la mecánica principal, cambiar la perspectiva, puedes ir alternando la manera en que vemos el juego, esto nos ayudará a alcanzar algunas zonas que normalmente no hubiesemos podido, el juego se basa en que tenemos que armar cubos para abrir puertas, pero para armar estos cubos necesitamos fragmentos que están esparcidos por las zonas del juego, al conseguir 8 fragmentos conseguiremos un cubo, algunas puertas requieren ciertas cantidades diferentes de cubos, algunas requieren solo 1 cubo y hay hasta puertas que requieren 16 cubos, muchas veces tenemos que pensar con detenimiento el como jugaremos con la mecánica de cambiar la perspectiva para conseguir cubos.
Mientras avanzamos vamos descubriendo zonas en las que tenemos que intentar todo lo que esté a nuestro alcance para avanzar, por ejemplo, hay una zona en la que puedes coger una bomba de tiempo para destruir puertas tapadas con escombros, pero a penas en la segunda vez que te encuentras en esa situación, el juego te obliga a jugar inteligentemente con el tiempo de la bomba y la mecánica principal, el juego te está diciendo que habrá situaciones más complejas y tal vez no solo con una bomba de tiempo, el juego te avisa que muchas veces antes de realizar ciertas acciones, debes analizar el escenario con bastante detenimiento para saber como actuar, muchas veces se trata de ensayo y error, intentar algo y aprender de ello, en el juego hay tesoros, cofres que puedes abrir para recibir un premio, y muchas veces debemos usar la mecánica principal del juego para conseguir la ruta exacta para llegar hasta el cofre.
Es muy fácil perderse en el mundo, hay muchos escenarios llenos de puertas que te llevan a otros escenarios, muchas veces no tengo idea a donde estoy yendo, pero, el juego te permite ver un mapa, al principio me costó un poco entenderlo porque no le había prestado mucha atención, quería seguir explorando hasta ver a donde me llevaban mis ganas de explorar, fue entonces cuando me di cuenta de lo interesante que es explorar este mundo.
Fez no es un juego con unos gráficos de última generación, no tiene muchas mecánicas, pero no deja de ser un juego bastante interesante, si te gustan los juegos de plataformas estoy seguro que Fez te gustará, a pesar que la mayoría de las veces debemos usar muy bien el cerebro para avanzar, no es un juego en el que te vayas a quedar estancado o que vaya a hacer que te frustres, al contrario, es muy relajante, espero que te haya gustado este post, todas las imágenes fueron tomadas por mi, que tengas una buena mañana, tarde o noche!
