It is easy to get bored with games that only have a premise, a formula that is constantly repeated over and over again, it is a routine that after a short time makes the game monotonous and repetitive, completely distancing us from it, when I think of this type of games many come to mind, but, today I would like to talk about a special case, a game that has a formula that is constantly repeated, but unlike other games, this one manages to make that repetitive formula its strong point and probably the most attractive premise of the game, today I want to talk about Left 4 Dead and its mastery to not become boring.
Es fácil aburrirse con juegos que solo tienen una premisa, una formula que constantemente se repite una y otra vez, es un rutina que al cabo de poco tiempo hace que el juego sea monótono y repetitivo, alejándonos por completo de él, cuando pienso en este tipo de juegos se me vienen muchos a la mente, pero, hoy me gustaría hablar de un caso especial, de un juego que tiene una formula que se repite constantemente, pero al contrario de otros juegos, este logra hacer que esa formula tan repetitiva sea su punto fuerte y probablemente la premisa más atractiva del juego, hoy quiero hablarles de Left 4 Dead y su maestría para no volverse aburrido.

Y es que Left 4 Dead solo se basa en interponerte hordas gigantes de zombies una y otra vez, a cada momento estás enfrentando cantidades gigantes de zombies que vienen hacia ti, para tratar de detenerte mientras avanzas hasta el próxima refugio, es cierto que en algunas ocasiones se nos plantean objetivos que van más allá que solo ir de un punto A a un punto B, en algunas ocasiones hay que recoger ciertos objetos para una cierta finalidad, llegar a un lugar específico para accionar algún mecanismo que nos permita avanzar, pero, esto no le agrega mucha variedad al gameplay, aun así me hace preguntarme ¿Por qué esto no se vuelve aburrido?
Después de analizarlo un poco, me doy cuenta que no le hace falta disimular el hecho de tener una formula repetitiva, ni mucho menos aparentar ser lo que no es, desde que comienza hasta que termina Left 4 Dead se apega al mismo plan, en ningún momento niega el hecho de ser lo que es, de ser un juego que solo se basara en un par de conceptos que no variarán mucho, el hecho de que el juego te avise acerca de eso desde que comienza, te hace pensar en que eso es lo que quieres, quiero decir, si vas a jugar Left 4 Dead es porque quieres disfrutar de esa formula, porque quieres matar y matar hordas gigantes de zombies como si no hubiese un mañana, no vas a buscar algo donde no lo hay.

And added to the fact that it is the perfect game to play with friends, it makes it a game with a quite attractive replayability, after all even if a game is very bad, it can be a quite enjoyable experience when playing with friends, it has happened to me a lot to be playing games that do not appeal to me at all (League of Legends, for example) and be genuinely having fun, Left 4 Dead has many situations where these hordes of zombies corner us and forces us to yell at our friends to help us, I remember playing the first game alone with bots and still enjoying it a lot, but when playing it with friends the experience is different, the fun is multiplied a lot, I'm sure I would have fun even if we play the same maps all the time.
Y sumado a que es el juego perfecto para jugar con amigos, lo hace un juego con un repetitividad bastante atractiva, después de todo aunque un juego sea muy malo, puede ser una experiencia bastante disfrutable cuando se juega con amigos, me ha pasado mucho el estar jugando a juegos que no me atraen para nada (League of Legends, por ejemplo) y estar divirtiendome genuinamente, Left 4 Dead tiene muchas situaciones en las que estas hordas de zombies nos acorralan y nos obliga a gritarle a nuestros amigos para que nos ayuden, recuerdo haber jugado al primer juego solo con bots y aun así disfrutarlo bastante, pero al jugarlo con amigos la experiencia es otra, la diversión se multiplica bastante, estoy seguro que me divertiría incluso si jugamos los mismos mapas todo el tiempo.
Otra cosa que también que altera un poco esta formula son los mods, es decir si quieres cambiar un poco como se ve el juego puedes recurrir a los mods que crean los mismos jugadores, tiene un catálogo de mods bastante amplio que puede darte muchísima variedad, desde skins de armas, zombies y personajes, hasta nuevas campañas para completar, he probado todo tipo de mods en este juego y creanme que la diversión aumenta muchísimo cuando modificas el juego a tu manera.
