If there is a topic that always catches my attention without exception, it's time travel, or in general stories where time passes irregularly for whatever reason, which is why a year ago a game potentially caught my attention, Twelve Minutes, which is based on the protagonist being trapped in a time loop when he arrives at his apartment.

All this is shown in the trailer I saw at the time, it looked pretty complete and caught my attention, more to be distributed by Annapurna Interactive, who usually publish interesting proposals, such as Sayonara Wild Hearts or the most recent Stray, which I hope to play sooner rather than later.

Going back to Twelve Minutes, the game starts with our protagonist, a husband whose name I don't know and we'll call him Stanley, why Stanley?, because I feel like it basically haha, and because it makes me think of The Stanley Parable.

Stanley gets out of the elevator to enter his apartment, but he forgot his keys so he must use the emergency key that is on the floor next to the house, this simple action is to explain the controls in a fast and practical way, the whole game can be played only with the mouse, with the left click we do all the interactions, and the right click works as pause button, the moment Stanley crosses the door of his house, the time starts to run (literally, in the pause menu we can see the time advancing in real time as a way to guide us in each loop).

Upon entering Stanley is greeted by his wife, who prepared his favorite dessert for a special occasion, so they sit down to eat and she also gives Stanley a gift, baby clothes with the name "DAHLIA" and a flower, in case this doesn't make it obvious, Stanley's wife is pregnant, after the news, the couple begins to dance in their living room when someone knocks on the door, it's a man who claims to come from the police, He proceeds to tell the wife (whom I'll now call Karen to give her a name) that she is under arrest for the murder of her father, and asks her about a watch of which Karen denies knowledge, after asking several times, the policeman goes to Stanley and begins to strangle him, at which point Karen decides to confess that the watch is-

AND OUT OF NOWHERE, STANLEY IS BACK AT THE DOOR OF HIS APARTMENT.

Nothing has happened, yet, his wife doesn't know he's in the apartment, yet, there is no cop out to hurt them, YET, this is what Twelve Minutes is all about, avoiding what you know is going to happen before it happens, or at least finding the best possible way out, personally this is getting pretty hard for me.

The most obvious thing you have to do is obviously change your decisions to try to change the situation, I think the most common is to try to explain to your wife what is going to happen, but Karen is the most skeptical woman in existence, and she asks you for PROOF when you tell her you are in a time loop, because of course, how can you not believe when your husband tells you he is in a time loop?

The thing is that Karen asks you for EVIDENCE, for this you can try to predict things that are going to happen before they happen, for example, tell her that it's going to start raining when the weather is completely clear, or anticipate the whole surprise of the baby clothes, these two tests are enough to send Karen to the couch to think about it in depth for the time necessary for the police to arrive and change absolutely nothing.

I tried to completely omit Karen's presence and I started to investigate the apartment, I found in the closet Karen's phone and you can use it to call numbers like 911 and ask for help, the authorities will not arrive in less than 15 minutes, so this solution is practically useless since the cop arrive in more or less one or two minutes and it will not give time for someone else to arrive, I tried to find some additional number to call but so far I can't find any.

The next strategy was to try to make Karen confess about her supposed past and if she really killed her father, but as KAREN, IS KAREN, she will deny absolutely everything and if you push too hard she will leave the apartment crying and the loop will restart, so there was no choice but to keep looking.

I tried stabbing the cop, but he ended up knocking Stanley out, I tried using sleeping pills in Karen's water to see what I could achieve, but she would just fall asleep, I even took an extreme measure, and tried stabbing Karen, but this doesn't stop the cop from coming, and instead of interrogating her, he interrogates you, and since you don't know anything, he'll strangle you until the loop restarts.

I make this post to come to the conclusion that I've not advanced a single step in the right direction, because whatever you do the cop is going to arrive and handcuff Stanley and Karen, if you try to get up there he's going to knock you out with a punch and you go back to the beginning, and although it's interesting the amount of things you can try just starting, this makes it too difficult to find the right direction and makes the game relatively difficult, because there's no advice or even explain you that you can combine objects, so that is already a flaw of the game.

The only negative, is repeating the same things over and over and over and over and over again to try each option, there's no option that allows you to advance time freely, but you can sleep to advance it until the cop arrives, maybe there are more things you can do, but I refused to look for a guide because I want to keep trying some things.

The whole game is like a big puzzle that you must solve in the right order or you must start over, so if you like puzzles, this is your game without a doubt, for my part I don't have too much to add, but I hope to finish it sooner rather than later haha, thank you very much for reading the post, I hope you liked it.

Todo esto se muestra en el tráiler que vi en aquel entonces, se veía bastante completo y me llamó mucho la atención, más al ser distribuido por Annapurna Interactive, quienes por lo general publican propuestas interesantes, como Sayonara Wild Hearts o el más reciente Stray, el cual espero jugar más pronto que tarde.

Volviendo a Twelve Minutes, el juego empieza con nuestro protagonista, un esposo cuyo nombre no conozco al cual llamaremos Stanley, ¿por qué Stanley?, porque me da la gana básicamente haha, y porque me hace gracia pensar en The Stanley Parable.

Stanley sale del ascensor para entrar a su apartamento, pero se le olvidaron las llaves así que debe usar la de emergencia que está en la planta al lado de la casa, esta sencilla acción tiene el fin de explicarnos los controles de forma rápida y práctica, todo el juego se puede jugar solo con el mouse, con el click izquierdo hacemos todas las interacciones, y el derecho funciona como botón de pausa, en el momento que Stanley cruza la puerta de su casa, empieza a correr el tiempo (literalmente, en el menú de pausa podemos ver el tiempo avanzando en tiempo real como una forma de orientarnos en cada bucle).

Al entrar Stanley es recibido por su esposa, la cual preparó su postre favorito por una ocasión especial, por lo que se sientan a comer y esta además le entrega a Stanley un obsequio, ropa de bebé con el nombre “DAHLIA” y una flor, por si esto no lo hace evidente, la esposa de Stanley está embarazada, después de la noticia, la pareja empieza a bailar en su sala cuando alguien toca a la puerta, es un hombre que dice venir de parte de la policía, el cual esposa a la esposa de Stanley, y posteriormente a Stanley, tira a ambos al suelo y cierra la puerta del apartamento, procede a decirle a la esposa (a la cual ahora llamaré Karen para otorgarle un nombre) que está bajo arresto por el asesinato de su padre, y le pregunta por un reloj del cual Karen niega conocimiento, después de preguntar varias veces, el policía va hasta Stanley y empieza a estrangularlo, momento en el que Karen decide confesar que el reloj está en-

Y DE LA NADA, STANLEY VUELVE A ESTAR EN LA PUERTA DE SU APARTAMENTO

Nada ha ocurrido, aún, su esposa no sabe que está en el apartamento, aún, no hay ningún policía que quiera hacerles daño, AÚN, de esto trata Twelve Minutes, de evitar lo que sabes que va a pasar antes de que ocurra, o de al menos de encontrar la mejor salida posible, personalmente esto se me está haciendo bastante difícil.

Lo más obvio que tienes que hacer es obviamente cambiar tus decisiones para buscar cambiar la situación, creo que lo más común es intentar explicarle a tu esposa lo que va a pasar, pero Karen es la mujer más escéptica de la existencia, y te pide PRUEBAS cuando le dices que estás en un bucle temporal, porque claro, ¿cómo no creer cuando tu esposo te dice que está en un bucle temporal?

El caso es que Karen te pide PRUEBAS, para esto puedes intentar predecir cosas que van a pasar antes de que pasen, por ejemplo, decirle que va a empezar a llover cuando el clima está completamente despejado, o adelantarte a toda la sorpresa de la ropa de bebé, estas dos pruebas son suficientes para mandar a Karen al sofá a pensarlo en profundidad durante el tiempo necesario para que llegue el policía y no cambie absolutamente nada.

Intenté omitir completamente la presencia de Karen y me puse a investigar el apartamento, encontré en el armario el teléfono de Karen y puedes usarlo para llamar a números como el 911 y pedir ayuda, las autoridades no llegarán en ningún caso en menos de 15 minutos, así que esta solución es prácticamente inútil ya que el policía llega en más o menos uno o dos minutos y no va a dar tiempo a que llegue alguien más, he intentado buscar algún número adicional al cual llamar pero de momento no encuentro ninguno.

La siguiente estrategia fue intentar hacer confesar a Karen sobre su supuesto pasado y si en realidad mató a su padre, pero como KAREN, ES KAREN, va a negar absolutamente todo y si presionas demasiado va a irse llorando del apartamento y se reiniciará el bucle, así que no quedaba de otra que seguir buscando.

Intenté apuñalar al policía, pero terminó noqueando a Stanley, intenté utilizar pastillas para dormir en el agua de Karen a ver qué podía lograr, pero simplemente se dormía sin más, incluso tomé una medida extrema, e intenté apuñalar a Karen, pero esto no evita que llegue el policía, y en lugar de interrogarla a ella, te interrogue a ti, y como no sabes nada, pues te va a estrangular hasta reiniciar el loop.

Hago este post para llegar a la conclusión de que no he avanzado un solo paso en la dirección correcta, pues haga lo que haga el policía va a llegar y esposar a Stanley y Karen, si intentas levantarte ahí va a noquearte de un golpe y regresas al principio, y aunque es interesante la cantidad de cosas que puedes intentar apenas empezar, esto dificulta demasiado encontrar la dirección correcta y vuelve el juego relativamente difícil, pues no hay ningún tipo de consejo o siquiera te explican que puedes combinar objetos, por lo que eso ya es un fallo del juego.

Lo único negativo, es repetir las mismas cosas una y otra y otra y otra vez para intentar cada opción, no hay una opción que te permita adelantar el tiempo libremente, pero puedes dormir para adelantarlo hasta que llegue el policía, quizá hay más cosas que puedas hacer, pero me he rehusado a buscar una guía porque quiero seguir intentando algunas cosas.

Todo el juego es como un gran puzzle que debes resolver en el orden correcto o debes empezar de nuevo, así que si te gustan los puzzles, este es tu juego sin lugar a dudas, por mi parte no tengo demasiado que agregar, pero espero terminarlo más pronto que tarde haha, muchas gracias por leer el post, espero les haya gustado.
