Hello everyone!
I'm playing again, after a hiatus all kinds of posts are coming up again with some games I have pending, for the moment I leave you with this classic of classics, whoever hasn't tried this game yet do yourself a favour and cancel your plans for the day and get to the Aperture Science test centre.

Portal was one of those games that I always treat myself to revisit every now and then, just to remind myself how good an idea well implemented can be, rather than a full game I think it was a pilot project for Valve, just to see how viable the idea of an entire game based on the portal mechanic was.
Two guns, one with a blue portal and one with an orange portal that we can place throughout various test rooms to solve the puzzles they propose, and that's what we'll be doing throughout this game.
I told you that there is not much story or characters in the middle, well there is only one besides us the player, we are a silent protagonist, but the one that is not silent at all and takes the star is GLaDOS, the intelligence in charge of these test rooms and probably the rest of the labs. Her comments accompany us in each of the rooms and she becomes an equally disturbing and amusing companion.
Gameplay does well being something of an experiment in the core mechanics but it doesn't cut corners when it comes to including a lot of other things in the rooms, it's clear that GLaDOS is the one controlling the facility from the start but many secrets in the rooms, such as fallen walls or secret floors lead us a bit more into the story of how it all happened.
It feels unsettling when we first come across several of these clues, we can even see early on that there are some empty offices in many of these test rooms, the result of the artificial intelligence killing all the scientists with the neurotoxins,
but it always seems that there is someone watching you and observing you, I thought that this premise would be very good in a game with a more psychological component.

The feeling of loneliness is always disturbing, more when the site is one of experimentation with humans and portals, I do not care much about the part of the portals but if I would feel much fear if I were alone along several rooms that I have to overcome and that in some of them I have risk of dying.
something I really like about this hidden history of Portal is that the community and Valve fully embrace the idea of lore in these games, if not look at the comic they released a couple of years ago in reference to Rat Man, his story and how he made a living at the expense of GLaDOS.

There's something beautiful about the community creating this whole world outside of video games that amazes and fascinates me, it's the same with a lot of smaller games like Hollow Knight and it speaks to how much of an impact these games have on their players.
I don't know a single person involved in the video game space who doesn't know Portal, nor do I know the first person who the name Half-Life doesn't mean something to them,
Valve has built a reputation over many years for bold ideas in the gameplay space and that is reflected in how the community is willing to draw these story expansions in a way that often surpasses the narrative of the company's own titles.
The storyline theme is one of the ones I've been most interested in analyzing, of course with my recent interest in movies and analyzing them (unsuccessfully lol) I think I can notice how the video game maybe due to lack of focus, lack of budget or both doesn't always take advantage of these scenarios to give a development to its plot.
I know the sequel improves a lot the story and doubles the characters, it's a personal issue and I know it's in the sequel where there's a bit more development to these plots, this first game is something like a playable sample, expressly interested in showing the portals and playing puzzle solving with them.
Revisiting this game every so often has become a tradition for me, it's an idea that shines because of how well executed it is and because it's fun, I can't ask for more from an interactive medium than that it's fun to visit, every time I come back.

¡Estoy otra vez jugando!, despues de un hiatus nuevamente se vienen todo tipo de post con algunos juegos que tengo pendientes, por el momento les dejo este clasico de clasicos, el que aun no haya probado este juego hagase un favor y cancele sus planes del dia y lleguese al centro de pruebas de Aperture Science

Portal es uno de esos juegos que siempre me doy el gusto de visitar nuevamente cada cierto tiempo, solo para recordar lo bueno que una idea bien aplicada puede llegar a ser, mas que un juego completo creo que fue un proyecto piloto para Valve, solo para ver que tan viable era la idea de un juego entero basado en la mecanica de los portales.
Dos pistolas, una con un portal azul y otra con un portal naranja que podremos colocar a lo largo de diversas salas de prueba para resolver los puzles que proponen, y eso es lo que haremos durante todo este juego.
Les dije que no hay mucha historia ni personajes en el medio, bueno solo hay uno ademas de nosotros el jugador, que somos un protagonista silencioso, pero la que si no es silenciosa para nada y se lleva la estrella es GLaDOS, la inteligencia a cargo de estas salas de prueba y probablemente del resto de laboratorios. Sus comentarios acompañan en cada una de las salas y se convierte en un acompañante igualmente inquietante y divertido.
Al juego le va bien siendo algo asi como un experimento de la mecanica principal pero no se corta al momento de incluir muchas otras cosas en las salas, esta claro que GLaDOS es la que controla las instalaciones desde un comienzo pero muchos secretos en las salas, como paredes caidas o suelos secretos nos guian un poco mas hacia la historia de como todo paso.
Se siente inquietante el primer momento en el que nos topamos con varias de estas pistas, incluso podremos ver desde el comienzo que hay algunas oficinas vacias en muchas de estas salas de pruebas, producto de que la inteligencia artificial ha matado a todos los cientificos con las neurotoxinas,
pero siempre parece que hay alguien mirandote y observandote, pensaba que esa premisa estaria muy bien en un juego con un componente mas psicologico

La sensacion de soledad es siempre inquietante, mas cuando el sitio es uno de experimentacion con humanos y portales, no me preocupa mucho la parte de los portales pero si que sentiria mucho temor si estuviese solo a lo largo de varias salas que tengo que superar y que en algunas de ellas tengo riesgo de morir.
algo que me ha gustado mucho de esta historia oculta de Portal es que la comunidad y Valve abrazan por completo la idea del lore en estos juegos, sino mirense el comic que sacaron hace ya un par de años en referencia a Rat Man, su historia y como hizo para vivir a expensas de GLaDOS

Hay algo de hermoso en la comunidad creandose todo este mundo aparte de los videojuegos que me sorprende y me fascina, pasa lo mismo con muchos juegos pequeños como Hollow Knight y habla de lo mucho que impactan estos juegos en sus jugadores.
No conozco una sola persona involucrada en el espacio de los videojuegos que no conozco a Portal, tampoco conozco a la primera que elñ nombre de Half-Life no le signifique algo,
Valve ha construido desde hace muchos años una reputacion con ideas atrevidas en el espacio jugable y eso se ve reflejado en como la comunidad esta dispuesta a dibujar estas expansiones de sus historias de una forma que hasta muchas veces supera la narrativa de los titulos de la propia compañia
El tema argumental es uno de los que mas me ha interesado analizar, claro con mi reciente interes en las peliculas y en analizarlas (sin exito lol) creo que puedo notar como el videojuego quiza por falta de enfoque, de presupuesto o ambas no siempre aprovecha estos escenarios para darle un desarrollo a su trama.
Se que la secuela mejora mucho la historia y dobla los personajes, es un tema personal y se que es en la secuela donde hay un poco mas de desarrollo a estas tramas, este primer juego es algo asi como una muestra jugable, expresamente interesada en mostrar los portales y en jugar a resolver rompecabezas con ellos
El revisitar este juego cada cierto tiempo se ha convertido para mi en una tradicion, es una idea que brilla por lo bien ejecutada que esta y porque es divertido, no puedo pedirle mas a un medio interactivo sino que sea entretenido de visitar, cada vez que vuelvo
