For a long time I was thinking which game I played first, was it CS 1.6? was it Metin2? or Tibia? Finally I remember, it was Tibia then Metin2, then CS.
I think I was 12 yo, I've got my PC about a year ago which was in 2007. I've had a friend in real life that was playing this game, his dad was rich because he worked abroad so he had his PC earlier, he told me about Tibia. I mean I was sitting at his house looking at him playing, then when I got my PC, I created my own account in Tibia. Of course as a kid I created a nickname XxXMyNameXxXPL. Thats so cringe! Haha! This game was not a Polish game tho, and as a kid I couldn't speak or read English so all I was doing was following what my real life friend did before. I've spent days to get out of the first location called "Rookgard" and then at level 8 I choosed my class which was Knight , also my main city "Thais" and got teleported to the main land. From this moment players were able to attack me and I was able to also attack others. The sad and sometimes part starts there. I've been dying on the Rotworms all the time, then I was running back to retrieve my loot. After some time I decided to explore the map and look for help, because I couldn't progress, Tibia was too hard for me! I went to deposit place and all I could say was "items pls" "items pls!", finally someone gave me some items, they weren't a good items but I was still happy because I lost my starting gear by dying over and over to Rotworms. But I still had no potions and I didn't know that theres an NPC selling them so I spammed "BUY POTION!!!" finally someone gave me a trade without saying anything with a couple of potions and said "give me 200 gold". I've had 200 gold so I gave it to him and accepted the trade. He said "ty" it was a shortcut which meaning is obviosly "Thanks" but as a kid that couldn't speak English I thought it means "You" because "Ty" in Polish means "You" so I asked him "what???" "?????" "me ?" "what me?". And he said "Ty = Thanks". I was laughing so hard til this day. Probably thats the thing I remember the most from those times. Alright I've got my potions and some equipement so I went to hunt, I felt so strong so I decided to explore the map and look for stronger monsters. For sure I went to far... I went to Amazon's. Those monsters were too strong for me so I walked away but I lost myself on the map. Going back to town was like solving a labirynth for me, I've spent hours and in meantime I found a dead corpse of a player. So I clicked on it, opened it and I found an item called "Demon Shield". It looked like a really good high priced items.

I called my real life friend and I told him what I found. He said to me that this is really expensive item and I've had a lot of luck finding it in a dead corpse, the only way to loot it was from Demons for really high level over 200+! I was thinking "OMFG! I need to go back to town and probably sell it since I can't afford to wear such an expensive item, if I die now and lose it I will be so mad". For real I was having a seizures walking back to town.
I was so scared but I made my way back to town, but as soon as I was safe with the shield sitting in deposit room someone wrote to me. It was a neighbor of my friend. He was a lot older than us about 16yo. Looks like my friend told him that I found this shield, because they were playing together and the older neighbor was teaching him how to play. He told me in Polish language "Come, follow me I will give u something" so as a naive kid I went outside of safe spot with him. This bastard killed me, took all my items including the Demon Shield.
I asked him "Why?? Please give it back, please" and I started to cry. I was crying so hard and he answered to me "HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!" "I won't give u back, thanks for the shield". I was full in tears and I told him "I will go to your MOM and I will tell her!", he answered to me "its just a game what can u do to me?" but for me it wasn't a game, it was my FIRST GAME and i treated my characters and my items like my real life. This shield for me was more important than my own life in real life. Still full in tears I told him "I can go to my friend, his mom knows your mom, you're neighbors right?". I logged out and went to my friend house. I told him about this situation and then this bad guy appeared at his door. He asked my friend. "I saw him comming to you so often, is that the guy who found Demon Shield?" My scared friend said "Yes, but... can you give it back to him, hes crying because of you" but he said "No I won't give it back to him, its a game he died so I took his items, thats how the game works and btw tell him if he tells about it to my mom I'll beat him up IRL so badly". My friend told me about it and I was so scared, I couldn't retrieve my Demon Shield. I started to cry even more. It was all pointless... My experience with the game... The time I was trading, getting those items, everything was lost. Not like I could avoid it, probably at some point I would die anyway, but at this very moment for me it was the end of the world. I couldn't do shit. I stopped playing Tibia for next couple years, and when I grew up and I learned the game I became king. I was the one who was killing others and taking items, but I didn't used any bastard tricks like this guy, I tried to stay fair and earn my loot in a fair PvP. I hate people like this, til this day I remember this situation. It was the most amazing but also most depressing moment for me as a kid.
