Quando estamos envolvidos no mercado financeiro nós sempre analisamos e traçamos os planos tendo como base o risco do capital e os custos de oportunidade existentes e com isso bem estabelecido fica fácil saber quais são os riscos que estão sendo assumidos e conseguimos projetar algumas expectativas de valorização que nos permite especular um possível ROI.
Apesar de todos esses fatos serem verdadeiros (de forma bem simplificada) nós precisamos lembrar que existem diferentes tipos de investimento que não envolvem apenas o lado financeiro, muitas vezes esses investimentos utilizam recursos ainda mais importantes que o dinheiro e é sobre isso que falaremos no post de hoje.
TIPOS DE INVESTIMENTOS
Apesar do investimento financeiro ser o primeiro que vem na cabeça da maioria das pessoas, precisamos lembrar que o investimento de tempo é o mais precioso pois utiliza um recurso finito e que é impossível de se conseguir. Sabendo disso nós sempre precisamos considerar em nossas análises se o tempo investido em um determinado empreendimento realmente está sendo bem utilizado ou se os esforços estão sendo grandes demais para o retorno. Fazer essa análise para o investimento financeiro é algo relativamente fácil pois você pode subtrair a receita dos custos e considerar suas projeções futuras para ter uma previsão parcial do andamento do seu investimento, mas como calcular se o seu tempo investido está valendo a pena?
Eu decidi falar sobre esse assunto após ler duas postagens de jogadores antigos de Splinterlands que estão desistindo de jogar por não estarem mais animados com o jogo e por outros motivos mencionados em seus posts. Caso queira ler, basta clicar aqui:
Todos os seus argumentos são válidos e isso nos faz refletir sobre o que está causando esse sentimento. Por se tratar de um assunto muito pessoal e que pode variar de acordo com a experiência de cada pessoa, vamos apenas ignorar toda essa parte abstrata e focar no fato: jogadores estão desanimados de jogar Splinterlands. Em outras palavras podemos dizer que alguns usuários sentem que seu tempo está sendo mal gasto com o jogo e por isso eles não querem mais jogar.
Para um investimento de tempo ser extremamente positivo é preciso atender um fator principal:
- Satisfação pessoal.
Infelizmente não é sempre que podemos fazer algo que nos faz sentir prazer, porém quando falamos sobre jogos tudo o que queremos é que eles nos tragam essa satisfação pois é exatamente esse o principal objetivo dos jogos. Quanto mais o Splinterlands caminhou para o lado financeiro, mais a parte divertida foi sendo esquecida e isso gerou consequências que estão sendo sentidas e compartilhadas na Hive atualmente.
ALTERNATIVAS PARA O SPLINTERLANDS
Esse fato precisa ser analisado por toda a equipe de desenvolvimento para que alternativas sejam propostas. É extremamente importante que o lado financeiro do jogo esteja bem definido para que ele se mantenha vivo, mas acima disso é indispensável que os jogadores sintam vontade de utilizar seu tempo para jogar Splinterlands pois um jogo sem jogadores estará fadado ao fracasso. Apesar de muitos não gostarem da Web 2 ela está repleta de exemplos de jogos que são extremamente lucrativos porquê existem jogadores totalmente apaixonados e que ficam muito felizes em investir seu tempo jogando, mesmo que muitas vezes eles também precisem gastar dinheiro para melhorar sua experiência.
Aqui no Splinterlands está acontecendo o oposto, mesmo que algumas pessoas estejam fazendo bons investimentos financeiros (o que pode não ser a realidade considerando o longo Bear Market), muitos estão insatisfeitos com o seu investimento de tempo e acabam optando por apenas alugar/comprar um serviço de Bot para jogar por ele. Esse é um grande sinal de alerta que precisa ser urgentemente trabalhado e grandes mudanças estruturais precisam ser realizadas para restaurar o sentimento de felicidade ao jogar Splinterlands.
Precisamos nos espelhar na indústria dos jogos e aprender com a sua experiência, afinal não é atoa que essa é a indústria de entretenimento mais lucrativa do mundo! Novos debates precisam ser iniciados para debatermos quais melhorias poderiam reviver a vontade de jogar (sem bots) Splinterlands e como aplicá-las. Eu não tenho nenhuma solução mágica mas estou abrindo esse espaço para todos que queiram dar sua opinião sobre esse assunto, quem sabe a equipe veja nossas ideias e comecem a voltar seus olhos para isso.
DIVERSÃO > LUCRO
Essa afirmação pode parecer insana mas lembre-se que a maioria dos jogadores em qualquer outro jogo só está gastando tempo e dinheiro em troca de diversão, já no Splinterlands nós estamos trocando nosso tempo e diversão por dinheiro. Fazer esse caminho pode ser uma péssima escolha e por isso é necessário rever quais caminhos devemos tomar para reverter esse fluxo.

When we are involved in the financial market we always analyze and plan based on the existing capital risk and the existing opportunity costs, and with this well established it is easy to know what risks are being taken and we can project some valuation expectations that allow us to speculate a possible ROI.
While all these facts are true (in a very simplified way) we need to remember that there are different types of investment that do not involve only the financial side, often these investments use even more important resources than money and that is what we will talk about in today's post.
TYPES OF INVESTMENTS
Although the financial investment is the first that comes to most people's minds, we need to remember that investment of time is the most precious because it uses a finite resource that is impossible to get. Knowing this we always need to consider in our analyses whether the time invested in a particular venture is really being well used, or whether the efforts are being too great for the return. Doing this analysis for financial investment is relatively easy because you can subtract revenue from costs and consider your future projections to have a partial forecast of the progress of your investment, but how to calculate if your time invested is worth it?
I decided to talk about this subject after reading two posts from old Splinterlands players who are giving up playing the game because they are not excited about it anymore and for other reasons mentioned in their posts. If you want to read it, just click here:
All your arguments are valid and it makes us think about what is causing this feeling. Since this is a very personal issue and can vary according to each person's experience, let's just ignore all the abstract stuff and focus on the fact: players are discouraged from playing Splinterlands. In other words we can say that some users feel that their time is being badly spent on the game and that's why they don't want to play anymore.
For a time investment to be extremely positive one main factor must be met:
- Personal satisfaction.
Unfortunately it is not always that we can do something that makes us feel pleasure, but when we talk about games all we want is that they bring us this satisfaction because that is exactly the main goal of games. The more Splinterlands moved towards the financial side, more the fun part was forgotten and this generated consequences that are being felt and shared on Hive today.
ALTERNATIVES TO SPLINTERLANDS
This fact needs to be analyzed by the entire development team so that alternatives can be proposed. It is extremely important that the financial game side is well defined for it to stay alive, but above that it is indispensable that the players feel like using their time to play Splinterlands because a game without players will be doomed to failure. Although many dislike the Web 2 it is full of game examples that are extremely profitable because there are players who are totally passionate and are very happy to invest their time playing, even though they often also need to spend money to improve their experience.
Here at Splinterlands the opposite is happening, even though some people are making good financial investments (which may not be the reality considering this long Bear Market), many are dissatisfied with their investment of time and end up choosing to just rent/purchase a Bot service to play for it. This is a major warning sign that urgently needs to be worked on and major structural changes need to be made to restore the feeling of happiness when playing Splinterlands.
We need to mirror the gaming industry and learn from their experience, after all it's no wonder that this is the most profitable entertainment industry in the world! New debates need to be started to discuss which improvements could revive the desire to play (no bots) Splinterlands and how to apply them. I don't have any magic solution but I am opening this space for everyone who wants to give their opinion on this subject, who knows, maybe the staff will see our ideas and start to turn their eyes to it.
FUN > PROFIT
This statement may sound insane but remember that most players in any other game are only spending time and money in exchange for fun, whereas in Splinterlands we are trading our time and fun for money. Taking this path can be a very bad choice and so it is necessary to review which paths we should take to reverse this flow.
