Hello, all gamers! How are you? I hope everyone is doing well. Today I'm bringing you a different topic from the world of video games. While it's not about a game itself, it is about a fundamental aspect of the industry that is practically the foundation upon which everything we play is based. That's the profession of "Conceptual Character Design." You may not have heard of it despite having been playing for a long time, but this position is responsible for designing the characters, their clothing, physical characteristics, environment, weapons, and more for the games we love. Personally, I find it a fascinating position and one that goes hand in hand with video game development at almost every level.
A while ago, I started drawing seriously (I don't want to go on about myself and drawing), a discipline that I had put aside for a long time and then returned to. Last year, for no real reason, I decided to take drawing seriously (studies and all that). Well, something I've always been passionate about is character design, as I mentioned above, and I've focused my efforts and studies on character design.
I've been working these last two days on the character I've been showing. He's a kind of evil humanoid bird knight, definitely an enemy, one of those enemies you might encounter exploring an extremely dark and gloomy medieval-style dungeon. Something in that style, quite dark. Blending the human and creature forms. I haven't finished it yet, but I want to finish it with its color palette and do the entire character concept sheet as if it were for a study. This will be a way to start my portfolio. So, let's say this will be my first character to include and finish. I'd like to show the progress and future designs of other video game characters and continue exploring the profession of Character Design with you here.
I know this is a separate post, or perhaps it could be published in one of the art communities. But since it's something geared toward video games, I think the Hive Gaming community is the perfect place to do it. I hope you like it. Share your thoughts and ideas for future characters with me. Best regards.
