The New Order was a very important game for the Wolfenstein franchise, since we are not talking about just any franchise because we could be talking about perhaps the most important for the FPS genre, one of the most consumed genres today. This time developed by the Machine Games studios, and under the protective wing of Bethesda, this game not only reinvented the first installment of this saga, but improved everything as such.
In its time when this game was announced it is normal to feel some suspicion, because this franchise had its greatest boom a long time ago, and it is not much use to remember that pathetic installment that Activision launched in 2009, which I honestly do not think deserves to be called Wolfenstein .
With all the trailers that were released of this game before its departure, they already had people in mere expectation, but when it was finally released it was no wonder, this game met and broke against the expectations that were had about it. It's rare when a reimagining or sequel to something so old reinvents itself, luckily Wolfenstein was one of those oddities and it sparked off in the last two games we've seen from the franchise.
In The New Order, they do not focus so much on the military aspect as such, but on the human one, on how people suffer under the rule of the Nazis. Starting with its history, and taking into account that it is not a saga that shines so much in this regard, it does it quite well and has a beginning that makes you want to continue moving forward and know the story of its protagonist.
Here we are, obviously, before a war title based on World War II, but unlike any other title inspired by these catastrophic events, this time we will not find ourselves again invading the beaches of Normandy like good American soldiers to do for the umpteenth time the same campaign as in so many games. But here it is a bit different, maybe at the beginning we are in the Second World War, but that is the prologue, after this we jump to the future where many years have passed and the earth is dominated by the Nazis.
And although William B.J. Blazkowicz, the eternal protagonist of the Wolfenstein, is a patriotic American soldier, hero, stocky and with a huge jaw, here we will not talk about ranks or generals, we will see the human aspect of a world battered by the Nazi regime, how they kill without mercy, how people lose loved ones, and much, much cruelty. It is a raw game, of passion, love and revenge, of rebellion and fighting for what is believed.
If there is something that characterizes the Wolfenstein saga, it is two main and fundamental aspects: killing Nazis, and many shots; The New Order is no exception to the rule. While the fight against the Nazi regime is very marked in history, the shots are not lacking, in fact, in this game there were many new elements, which I appreciate, they give a new touch to the saga and although in reality they are nothing new in the genre, they are a very attractive nod for all modern FPS lovers.
Another thing that this game did not use was the tendency that modern FPS had to recharge your health simply by waiting for you, and I recover the medicine cabinets that many games of the genre used in other times. I would not have imagined it another way that was not the case taking into account the saga we are talking about.
Blazkowicz can carry an arsenal of weapons with him, but nothing is more fun than using two automatic shotguns. But escaping from the retro that some might consider to this feature, The New Order incorporates the famous perks that are so fashionable, and in a rather curious and cool way. We have a skill tree with four branches, one related to grenades, another to stealth, which is strange, but yes, this game has sigil, another to tactics and another to assault. We can improve our skills to reload faster, have more life, increase the ability to carry grenades and more.
The difference in the skill tree of this game is that it is not necessary only to kill to get them, there is a lot of variety and that they are achieved in very varied ways, it is not just killing, they have challenges that have nothing to do with that, and that They unlock skills for the areas I mentioned.
However, considering that Blazkowicz can carry a full arsenal of weapons, you will find yourself many times jumping from pistol to assault rifle, assault rifle to sniper scoped rifle, from there to the powerful LKW and from there to. use two automatic shotguns simultaneously and destroy everything in your path, even some walls and covers, which can be pierced with bullets. The New Order shows that it is a classic FPS, something that I liked a lot.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is not far behind in action, on the contrary, it has a lot and we will see it as we progress in missions of all kinds and that show the many sensitive aspects of the Nazi regime, which gives an even more realistic touch to the game. The New Order deals with topics such as human experiments carried out by the Nazis, the terrible concentration camps, and the mistreatment or murder of disabled people, in addition to showing torture of course.
Finally speaking of the technical aspect, I think they showed off a lot, although obviously it is not even a joke the most impressive thing you are going to see. With this I do not mean that it looks bad, on the contrary, it just does not reach other games of the generation in that sense, although if I have to highlight something it is the detail that they gave to the weapons, it is simply spectacular.
It is not easy to reinvent a saga, and luckily The New Order despite the years that it has already been, it did. It is a game with quite surprising emotional maturity for a game where it is basically about assassinating Nazis, Nazi robots and Nazi dogs. It tells you a great and exciting story.
Deathshead is one of the most cruel and sadistic enemies I have ever seen in a video game. At the beginning of The New Order, Blazkowicz faces a very difficult decision, of life and death, and the game changes thereafter. It is a title that offers replayability to complete the story in two ways, depending on two people and how they complement the story of your character.
The voice acting and performances are spectacular, I have to say they impressed me quite a bit, and it's something we've seen from Bethesda for quite some time now. The work that MachineGames and ID Software did was and is to be admired, it is impressive what they have done for two of the most important franchises for video games. It is a game that I recommend even with all the time it has, both this and its sequel seem spectacular to me. It does have negative aspects, like any game, but the positives far outweigh its shortcomings, it is undoubtedly a fun game, very complete and recommended for those who are lovers of the genre or not.

The New Order fue un juego muy importante para la franquicia Wolfenstein, ya que tampoco estamos hablando de cualquier franquicia porque podríamos estar hablando de quizá la más importante para el género de los FPS, uno de los géneros más consumidos en la actualidad. Esta vez desarrollada por los estudios de Machine Games, y bajo el ala protectora de Bethesda, este juego no solo reinventó la primera entrega de esta saga, sino que mejoró todo como tal.
En su tiempo cuando este juego fue anunciado es normal sentir cierto recelo, porque es que esta franquicia tuvo su mayor auge hace muchísimo tiempo, y no sirve de mucho recordar aquella patética entrega que lanzó Activision en 2009, que sinceramente no creo que merezca llamarse Wolfenstein.
Con todo los trailers que se lanzaron de este juego antes de su salida ya tenían a la gente a la mera espectativa, pero cuando finalmente se lanzó no fue para menos, este juego cumplió y rompió contra las expectativas que se tenían sobre él. Es raro cuando una reimaginación o secuela de algo tan viejo se reinvente a sí mismo, por suerte Wolfenstein fue una de esas rarezas y que desencadeno en los dos últimos juegos que hemos visto de la franquicia.
En The New Order, no se centran tanto en el aspecto militar como tal, sino en el humano, en cómo sufre la gente bajo el dominio de los nazis. Comenzando por su historia, y teniendo en cuenta que tampoco es una saga que brille tanto por este aspecto, lo hace bastante bien y tiene un inicio que hace que quieras seguir avanzando y saber la historia de su protagonista.
Aquí estamos, evidentemente, ante un título bélico basado en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero a diferencia de cualquier otro título inspirado en estos acontecimientos catastróficos, esta vez no nos encontraremos de nuevo invadiendo como buenos soldados americanos a las playas de Normandía para hacer por enésima vez la misma campaña que en tantos juegos. Pero acá es un tanto diferente, puede que al inicio sí que estamos en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero eso es el prólogo, luego de esto nos saltamos al fúturo donde han pasado muchos años y la tierra se encuentra dominada por los nazis.
Y aunque William B.J. Blazkowicz, el eterno protagonista de los Wolfenstein, es un soldado americano patriota, héroe, fornido y con una enorme quijada, aquí no hablaremos de rangos ni generales, veremos el aspecto humano de un mundo azotado por el régimen Nazi, como matan sin piedad, como las personas pierden a sus seres queridos, y mucha, pero mucha crueldad. Es un juego crudo, de pasión, amor y venganza, de rebeldía y lucha por lo que se cree.
Si hay algo que caracteriza a la saga Wolfenstein son dos aspectos principales y fundamentales: matar Nazis, y muchos disparos; The New Order no es la excepción a la regla. Mientras la lucha contra el régimen Nazi está muy marcada en la historia, los disparos no faltan, de hecho, en este juego hubieron muchos elementos nuevos, cosa que agradezco, le dan un toque nuevo a la saga y aunque en realidad no son nada nuevo en el género, son un guiño muy atractivo para todos los amantes de los FPS modernos.
Otra cosa que este juego no utilizó fue la tendencia que tenían los FPS modernos de recargar la salud simplemente quedandote esperándo, y recupero los botiquines que utilizaban muchos juegos del género en otros tiempos, algo que le vino muy bien porque no me lo hubiera imaginado de otra forma que no fuera así teniendo en cuenta la saga de la que hablamos.
Blazkowicz puede llevar un arsenal de armas encima, pero nada divierte más que usar dos escopetas automáticas. Pero escapando de lo retro que algunos podrían considerar a esta característica, The New Order incorpora los famosos perks que están tan de moda, y de una forma bastante curiosa y genial. Tenemos un árbol de habilidades con cuatro ramificaciones, una relacionada a las granadas, otra al sigilo, cosa extraña, pero sí, este juego tiene sígilo, otra a las tácticas y otra al asalto. Podremos mejorar nuestras habilidades para recargar más rápido, contar con más vida, aumentar la capacidad de llevar granadas y más.
La diferencia en el árbol de habilidades de este juego es que no es necesario solo matar para conseguirlas, hay bastante variedad y que se consiguen de formas muy variadas, no es sólo matar, tienen retos que no tienen nada que ver con eso, y que te desbloquean habilidades para los ámbitos que mencioné.
Sin embargo, tomando en cuenta que Blazkowicz puede llevar encima un arsenal de armas completo,te encontrarás muchas veces saltando de la pistola al rifle de asalto, del rifle de asalto al rifle con mira sniper, de este a la potente LKW y de esta a usar dos escopetas automáticas de forma simultánea y destruir todo a tu paso, incluso algunas paredes y coberturas, que se pueden atravesar con balas. The New Order se nota que es un FPS a lo clásico, algo que me gustó bastante.
Wolfenstein: The New Order tampoco se queda atrás en acción, al contrario, tiene mucha y lo veremos conforme vamos avanzando en las misiones de todo tipo y que muestran los tantos aspectos sensibles del régimen Nazi, lo que le da un toque aún más realista al título, y sobre todo lo llena de escenas crudas y explícitas. En The New Order se tratan tópicos como los experimentos humanos que realizaron los Nazis, los terribles campos de concentración, y el maltrato u homicidio de personas discapacitadas, además de mostrar la tortura por supuesto.
Finalmente hablando del aspecto técnico, creo que se lucieron bastante, aunque obviamente no es ni de chiste lo más impresionante que vayas a ver. Con esto no quiero decir que se vea mal, al contrario, solo que no le llega en ese sentido a otros juegos de la generación, aunque si tengo que destacar algo es al detalle que le dieron a las armas, es sencillamente espectácular.
No es fácil reinventar una saga, y por suerte The New Order a pesar de los años que ya lleva, sí que lo logró. Es un juego con una madurez emocional bastante sorprendente para un juego donde basicamente se trata de asesinar nazis, robots nazis y perros nazis. Te relata una historia genial y emocionante.
Deathshead es uno de los enemigos más crueles y sádicos que he visto en un videojuego. Al inicio de The New Order enfrenta a Blazkowicz a una decisión muy difícil, de vida o muerte, y el juego cambia a partir de entonces. Es un título que ofrece rejugabilidad para completar la historia de dos maneras, dependiendo de dos personas y como ellas complementan la historia de tu personaje.
Las actuaciones de voz y las interpretaciones son espectáculares, he de decir que me impresionaron bastante, y es algo que hemos visto de Bethesda desde hace un buen tiempo para acá. El trabajo que hizo MachineGames y ID Software fue y es de admirar, es impresionante lo que han hecho por dos de las franquicias más importantes para los videojuegos. Es un juego que recomiendo aún con todo el tiempo que tiene, tanto este como su secuela me parecen espectáculares. Sí que tiene aspectos negativos, como cualquier juego, pero los positivos superan por mucho sus carencias, es sin duda un juego divertido, muy completo y recomendable para los que sean amantes del género o no.
