Life has been very busy with some large projects going on behind the scenes taking nearly all my attention. Soon that will be behind us and the local gaming store will be starting it's multi-month Warhammer Crusade. I've been building up my force over years but, in the past 2 months, this really got kicked into overdrive.
You may have seen my article about getting my whole army primed recently. Before I checked that off the list I was already starting to fill uip shelves with gray plastic.
HQ's, Killa Kans, Deff Koptas, and some Deff Dreads.
The Motorpool: Trukks, Kustom Gorkanaut, Warbikers, Grot Tanks, ect|
Having played my first game of Warhammer a few weeks ago I decided to expand my HQ shelf in a few directions. HQ's are where I nearly always go kustom as Games Workshop is asking $30-50 for single models and that is ridiculous.
Here are the purchases for me to craft two additional Meks, a Mek with trakktor cannon, a kustom Boss Snikrot, a Warboss on Wartrike, and two more crews of MegaNobz with Twin Killsaws.
I'm feeling like a kid on Christmas morning waiting for these last bits and pieces to come in. It has become exceedingly clear in a very short time that MegaNobz with Twin Killsaws are likely the biggest threat in the Ork army and will remain there unless they are nerfed. As they can be lead by Big Mek in Mega Armor or Warboss in MegaArmor you have a variety of ways to pump them up further, they fit in multiple detachments, and honestly they are fun as hell.
I've solidified my list for week one of the Crusade. After going back for forth many times I've decided to build a Bully Boys list as opposed to a Dread Mob list. This means I'll be focusing on the elite of the Ork infantry, not the mechanical units as I had planned.
This has very little to do with Bully BOys being super powerful RN and much more to do with the Dread Mob detachment rule ("Try Dat Button!") adding too much confusion into things for a first time player.
Here's my list!
This is going to be SO MUCH FUN. For anyone familiar with Ork tactics it will be exceedingly clear whats going on here. For those who are not let me explain!
Team Kunnin - This is a group of 5 mega armored orks lead by a warboss (also in mega armor) with a teleporta. This is going to allow them to set up ANYWHERE on the board as long as they are 9"+ from an enemy unit. This will most likely mean popping out from behind a building at butchering something of the enemies at the worst possible time. The goal here is to get them to forget this even exists.
Team Brutal - Warboss and 10 nobz (tough orks) in a trukk. This is very simple. This is a truck full of hatred and it will be crashed into the enemies front lines, hopefully in the midfield. These Nobz are not expected to survive and that's fine.
Team Kunnin' N Brutal - Oh dear Mork and Gork bless us all. When 20 boyz get together it's already a terrifying thing before they get their two leaders. I'm going with a Warboss to use strategms on and a Weirdboy for DA JUMP! This means that on turn one I'll be using a Ork Shaman to teleport a MASSIVE clump of Orks to where they will be the most distracting.
The goal here is to make my opponent think I'm playing like a foolish Ork player and focusing on combat while secretly hitting all the objectives I can. The Stormboyz and Gretchin will play right into this plan.
Will it work? Only time will tell friends! I hope you'll keep readying and following along with me!
